Samsung's new BD-P3600 serves up way more than the full HD 1080p video and 7.1-channel surround sound for which Blu-ray Disc is known. The combination of Wi-Fi readiness (with the included Wi-Fi dongle) and an ethernet port make it possible to connect the BD-P3600 to your home internet network. From there, the possibilities are astounding. Thanks to Netflix and Pandora readiness, you can stream internet movies and music and send them straight to your HDTV (a Netflix membership is required for some services). Further, BD Profile 2.0 capability (also known as BD Live) gives you the ability to discover on-line extras for many of your favorite Blu-ray movies. Finally, 1GB of built-in memory is ideal for buffering audio and video content streamed from the internet.
It's all about the Blu
If you haven't heard of Blu-ray Disc before, here's a quick crash course. DVD technology uses a wide red laser to record movies onto the disc. Blu-ray Disc, on the other hand, uses a narrower blue-violet laser to do its encoding. Consequently, a dramatically larger amount of information can be recorded in the same space. In fact, a Blu-ray disc can store over five times the information of a DVD. This makes it possible for both full high definition 1920 x 1080p video and HD 7.1-channel audio to be stored on a single disc. And that's just the beginning. There's also plenty of room left over for special features and behind-the-scenes extras. Samsung's BD-P3600 not only supports a variety of Blu-ray formats, but also gives you the ability to play back DVDs and CDs, as well as audio and images recorded using formats such as MP3, and JPEG. Further, DivX certification gives you the ability to watch video recorded using this compression codec.
Surround sound's full potential
While Samsung's BD-P3600 features built-in decoding technology for a variety of surround sound formats, two top the list: Dolby Digital TrueHD and dts-HD Master Audio. These advanced technologies allow for decoding of the full HD 7.1-channel surround sound found on many Blu-ray Disc titles. Full 7.1-channel surround sound adds two side surround channels to standard 5.1-channel configurations, creating and even more realistic, enveloping audio experience. For those of you with older receivers, or who just prefer analog to digital audio, the BD-P3600 offers integrated 7.1-channel multi-channel analog audio output.

First off this is my second Blu Ray player Ive bought from Vanns, among many other purchases, and Ive always been extremely happy. In addition, this is my second Samsung Blu Ray player, first was BDP 1600 and I also love my 4 Samsung PlasmasLCDs - Ive always had full confidence in Samsung products.
I did a lot of research before making this purchase and I surprisingly saw a number of negative comments. Ive had no trouble with the player and it works great! I have Netflix, so I tried out streaming movies and havent had a problem, the wireless dongle included works great. Not only that but picture quality is exceptional... I have a 7.1 Klipsch surround system that sounds terrific with the enhanced decoding that this player is capable of. One of my biggest selling points on this player is that it is able to upconvert my extensive dvd collection to 1080i, looks amazing. I highly suggest HDMI with this player, that will get the max out of not just this but any blu ray player

Weve only had the player for a couple of weeks but its everything we thought it would be. The Netflix streamlining feature is great. I like watching movies and doing excercise videos and this enables me to choose them immediately. The Pandora feature is great for music lovers, expecially if you like a certain type of music, it finds and plays similar groups. The actual blue ray player does present a great picture, but we have played many blue rays yet to compare any. But all-in-all is a great player.

This is a great player when it concerns dvds. I have had no problems while using the player as a dvd player. On the other hand there is a very noticable difference in how long it takes to load the menus and previews that come along with blue-ray. The picture is great along with the sound.

Followed the clearly written instructions to attach the included wi-fi dongle to the back usb port turned on the unit went to set-up in the menu, and the rest was easy.
Had a question about selecting an audio mode it was answered clearly in the instruction materials.
The unit automatically handled its own firmware update once we made the wi-fi connection to my network.
Sound and picture are great. Seems to load pretty fast. Have had a few instances where the disk is loaded but the system doesnt sense it -- Ive just turned the system off, then on, and the glitch seems to be self-correcting.
Made the connection to youtube and watched streaming videos. The youtube interface is a little clunky -- but that is a small criticism for a fantastically performing unit.

I was choosing between the Samsung 3600 and 4600, and decided to go with the 3600. Im quite happy with it. The 4600 was meant to be wall-mounted and had a different form factor wider and less tall, which wasnt worth the extra cost since the player hardware is the same. The 4600 was also too wide for my entertainment center space, as it turned out, so be sure to measure!
The 3600 came with a USB stick for connecting to a wireless network, which was convenient. It also as an ethernet port if youd rather use that. The main benefit I had of putting it on the network was that the player automatically updated its own firmware from the Internet, so it was immediately capable of playing some blu-ray discs that the original player firmware could not. Compare this experience to the less expensive Samsung blu-ray players that dont come with network support out the box, and then read the instructions on how to update the firmware by hand with a disc you burn yourself from a computer, and youll immediately save yourself all of that hassle with the 3600!
The next benefit of putting it on the network is that you can stream music from Pandora, as well as movies from Netflix and BlockBuster. Ive used it for Pandora, but not Netflix or BlockBuster since this makes my 3rd device in my entertainment center that can stream Netflix, so there was no need.
Next, if you have a Samsung HDTV I have a 5 inch A650 then the TV recognizes the Samsung blu-ray player and will automatically turn itself on and switch to the blu-ray player input when you put a disc into the player. This is a nice feature, which you can turn off in the televisions settings if you prefer. Its been convenient for us since our 3 year old can put in their own DVDs without having to reach any remotes from a high shelf.
One thing that would have been nice is if there were an HDMI cable that came with the box. It doesnt, so make sure you have a cable already.
Lastly, the picture quality is gorgeous. I recommend this player!

After much research I decided on this Samsung player a couple months ago. First, the wireless was very simple to set up, however I do not have an encrypted network since we live in the country. The start up is faster than anything else I have seen at friends places. The online Netflix and Blockbuster are very convenient for the kids! I can put several dozen movies in the queue and they can choose what they want. It even knows where you stopped it so the kids can pick up where they left off. Pandora radio is one that has been great. With the stations I already had on the computer, I can now send them through the entertainment system to have great background music or route it to the outside speakers have have commercial free music while entertaining or enjoying the outdoors. Overall, I would recommend this player and the fact my 4 year old can load, choose settings and play a movie tells you the controls are rather simple.

The wireless internet connection opens a world of glorious, crystal-clear opportunities.
Build your netflix cue and watch your favorite movies. Log on to Pandora and enjoy music. Instead of telling your friends about that youtube video, just cue it up on screen!
Oh, and the blue rays look good too! As well as up-bumped DVDs.
We paired it with our Samsung TV, so were also enjoying the advantages of the anynet compatibility between the systems. Also great.
This is definitely a great addition to creating an all-in-one home entertainment system.

I purchased this player mainly to steamline Netflix, in addition to playing blu-rays. The remote has alot of buttons I have not needed to use. I choose to run an Ethernet cable directly from my PC to the player since the players wireless kept loosing the signal. The touch buttons are hard to find in low light inside my cabinet.
The other player that would streamline Netflix was quite a bit more money and didnt think have as nice picture quality. The technical support for that product was very poor.
Although the set up was a little challenging but not impossible, Samsung has excellent technical support! This player has excellent picture quality and audio! A great player for the money!

Samsung BDP3600 Blu-Ray Player
Review I am very impressed with the Samsung BDP-3600 Blu ray player that I purchased. It outperforms other Blu Rays in its price range. It has many features and the setup is a breeze. I wanted the ability to use an ethernet cable or go wireles if I wanted or needed. The wireless adapter was included which is a good deal. I already owned a Sony and it did not have the Netflix streaming capabilities that I was after. Setting up the wireless connecion on my home network was very easy and took less than 10 minutes. As a bonus for me I have also enjoyed the Pandora radio, it is pretty slick. Also very easy to set up. They picture quality is outstanding and the remote works well with my tv for universal control. Overall very happy with this purchase.

After purchasing and trying to install the model that was on sale at BestBuy and not being able to connect to my network, I decided to buy this model through your company since it wasnt available at BestBuy. It wound up being cheaper than the BestBuy price. When I received the package the setup was pretty easy. The only trouble I had was connecting to my wireless network. I was successful in finally connecting to my network by letting my iMac know what to look for. The Netflix, Pandora and uTube features work as advertised. I would recommend this product. The only down side was the wireless network connecting, but it isnt a major drawback.

Weve had this unit about a month and so far, it does everything we want it to with no problems.
The reason we bought it was for its onboard wireless NIC - and it had decent reviews. Connecting to our homes wireless network was effortless. I will say the intstructions lack the steps to do this but its fairly simple to figure out.
When you consider the cost of a DVD player now which isnt much anymore, its much better sense to put your $$$ towards a Blu-ray that can play any DVD AND connect to the internet NetflixBlockbuster.
Rarely will we ever rent DVDs locally now. Now we have a better selection, done at home with no late fees.

I bought this unit over Christmas and I have not had any problems to date. I read some of the other reviews on this unit and they indicated NOT to do the firmware update. Apparently, the new firmware is not good for the unit. I reviewed many units before purchasing this Samsung. The main reason I chose this model was the Netflix streaming feature and the fact that the wireless adapter was included. Setting up the wireless feature and the Netflix feature was quite easy. The picture quality of the unit is very good. I was surprised on how well the unit streamed the Netflix movies. This unit is good for someone who wants a wireless feature and Netflix streaming. Overall, Ive been satisfied with this blu-ray player.

I purchased one off these for myself, found it to be such a great product that I bought another as a gift for a family member.
Blue ray picture quality is outstanding. I am also using it to stream Netfix movies, which has also been a great experience.
The only negative I have found, is that the included remote needs to be aimed very carefully, which can be a bit annoying until you get used to it, which reflects in the ease of use rating.

its a nice piece to look at, but the buttons being on the top of the unit is a miss. they are way too sensitive and not easy to use. im surprised that a dvd does not look all that great with the upconverting. ive adjusted every thing you can but not that happy. blu discs look fine, but that should be expected.im actually hooking up my sony dvd player to play music and dvds and use this for only blu discs. oh well.

Visually , this product was far beyond my expectation. The quality of picture and sound with optical cable is amazing. For the price paid at Vanns, the value was the best on market for the available options. I would say that overall, this is the best product for your money, and the best price was at Vanns. My only issues may not be with the player but rather the technology, and that would be that the wireless hook-up takes a while to re-sync each time you start, and that when streaming, the player rewinds by greater intervals, not what you are used to for on-demand or regular dvd play. That being said, I will likely not go back to regular dvd viewing after having experienced Blu-Ray on Samsung,.

The BluRay player was shipped in a timely manner and delivered double packaged with the manufacturers box and a shipping one. The player works beautifuly. It loads the discs very quickly and is able to directly download Netflix and Blockbuster movies without difficulty. Streaming Pandora Radio is also a great fature. Definately worth the price.

We looked at many models of Blu-rays, but Samung was the only one that had the features we wanted. The wireless interenet works great. We use Blockbuster the most and the movies streamline with no problems. Netflix, Pandora, and You Tube also work great. The remote also conected to our Samung tv by itself with setting it up.

Great product!!! I am thoroughly enjoying this player. The quality of the picture on Blu-ray or conventional DVD is excellent. Better than I imagined it would be. I am also extremely happy with the additional features such as Pandora Radio, Netflix, and Blockbuster through the wireless connnection which was very easy to setup. The only criticism is that these services are not sending 1080P signals. The other criticism minor is that the player takes some time to access any bluray, dvd, or wirless program. Lastly the quality of the Divx playback is exceptional.

This slim line player was easy to install and easy to operate, and the clarity of the play is amazing. We bought it to connect wirelessly to our Netflix account, and it does everything we want it to. Blu-ray and regular videos have wonderful clarity. Because it is so thin, and has a front opening, it fits easily in different cabinet configurations. If you dont use remote, though, the buttons on the top front are hard to read so you have to put the machine on top of another piece, or sticking out so you can reach them, and memorize the buttons, which are raised, so you dont have to have a flashlight.

One consideration... for those interested in gaming, probably much cheaper to buy an Xbox or Wii, etc. which include Blu Rays built in.

This device has performed very well. I am extremely happy with my purchase so far. It was easy to set up and connect to my Linksys router. My router discovered the wireless dongle supplied almost immediately and all I had to do was follow the on screen instructions to enter my security code and PRESTO I was done. I only had 2 cables to connect one HDMI to my 55 Vizio LED HDTV and one digital optical cable to my Yamaha Home Theater system. The picture quality is superb and streaming of Netflix movies is relatively fast and of great quality. This is my first venture into the Blu-ray world so I have nothing to compare this unit to. Everyone would benefit by purchasing this fine product and I would definitely recommend it. I was influenced in my purchasing decision by the Samsung reputation for quality and the wireless capabilities of this particular unit.

After doing my homework, on what available in the market today I ordered the Samsung BDP 3600. The biggest selling feature, for me, is the ability to down load movies on Netflix. This function has worked great. The only down side is the movies are not down loading in Dolby digital audio. The sound is Ok but the big plus is downloading a movie when we want to watch it. This saves the time of going to the video store, and selecting a movie, and then remembering to return it on time.
As of yet, the Blue ray titles, I have watched have not had a 7.1 audio option available. But Im confident that this feature will be nice in the near feature.

I was debating which Blue Ray player to get. After reading few reviews, setteled on this BDP3600.
What I like
Wireless network, netfix, blockbuster, pandora and youtube access.
We have used netflix access using wireless network to watch numerous movies on our LED LCD tv.
This player is doing good job of upconverting regular DVDs to 1080p. Blue Ray is good.
So far it has played following media without problem
regular DVD, blue ray dvd, home made family movie on dvdr and dvd-r.

Netflix movies play flawlessly, look great and offer a nice option for entertainment. Pandora is a unique source for music as well, as it finds songs you should like based on your selections. Weve really enjoyed this player. Its operates quietly, the picture is excellent and the netflix, pandora, youtube features are great. Weve watched a lot of movies over netflix and the player displays them well and we rarely have lag in download times. We did notice if you reduce your instant que in netflix to just one or two it the playback almost always works without a hitch, if you have many items in your que, it does lag. No biggie though once we figured that out. Would buy this again for sure.

Im extremely happy with my Samsung BD-3600 Blu-Ray player. The device is flawless mechanically and plays Blu-ray , DVD, and CD disks perfectly. Screen menus are easy to navigate. Setup was intuitive. The wireless interface via the included dongle is also superb. Streaming from Pandora, Blockbuster and Netflix gives me fine sound and DVD quality video performance, limited only by the quality of the source material and sending server, not the player. I purchased the Samsung BDP3600 for the following reasons 1I wanted a HDBlu-ray player, 2I wanted Internet access for Netflix, Pandora, etc., and 3I wanted a good price.
I received all 3 with the Samsung. the player was easy to set up both for the player and for Internet access for both wireless and hardwired. Both coonections provided adequate speed for download and viewing movies from Netflix.
The quality of the picture for HDBlu-ray is great. The ease of use is the remote is fine as it mirrors that of my Samsung LCD tv. And it works well with my Logitech Harmony 880 remote.
In short, I am very pleased with it. The only drawback is with the manual controls on the top instead of the front which limits its placement with my other components.

I have to say that the month and half that Ive been using this blu ray its shown to be pretty impressive. Quality of the picture is great, the pandora, netflix, and youtube features work very well too.
The remote control however, is something to complain about. For one, it feels way to fragile. Two, sometimes you have to press the keys multiple times in order for the blu ray to pick up the signal. While it is not much if you are standing directly right in front of it, but the angles are pretty horrible.
Overall though, for the price i could not be happier.

This is a great product! I bought a Samsung LN46b550 HDTV last summer which is awesome and connected the new Bluray player with an HDMI, did setup and started watching a Blueray movie in 15 mnutes. The picture quality and sound are extraordinary. Samsungs anynet turns both componets on at the same time and the ethernet connection . . . the dongle came with the player . . . immediately brings up movies streamed from Netflix. Also, free Pandora music and Youtube come with it . . . free, free, free. I give both of these products the highest recommedation! Go for it!

This is a first rate Blu-ray player. Samsung has its own common command language that its components use to talk to one another through the HDMI connection. So if you turn on the Blu-ray player it notifies theSamsung TV to turn on and switch to the Blu-ray input. That can be convenient in some situations but annoying when you are watching TV and your wife wants to put her Yoga DVD away.
It also uses the universal CEC Consumer Electronics Command language that is the standard between all brands. So it also tells the Onkyo AV Receiver to switch to the Blu-ray player when you do the slightest thing.
On the nice side, you can hide the Blu-ray player in a cabinet and just point its remote at the Samsung TV. The TV will relay the message to the Blu-ray player.
Also, the buttons are on the TOP of this player. Depending on how you stack your components this can be an issue.

I own a number of samsung products, 2 LCD tvs and now 2 blu ray players. My first samsung blu ray player is a bit old 2 years but still performs well but we needed to upgrade, and the wireless ability of this one sold the deal.
The player starts up blu rays fairly quick compared to other models and brands, plus the internet widgets are very easy to use and work extremely well. The remote control is great and this is just a fine product. I will probably buy a few more in the near future.
Vanns always does a great job with delivery and I have purchase most of my Samsung products from them. Im a very happy customer!

This was my first purchase form Vanns. I had to return the bdp-3600 because it would not play certain formats that samsung said it would play.
I ordered another brand of player from Vanns which I am awaiting delivery of.

I bought this model because of its wifi capablities. I can watch Netflicks with it and didnt have to mess with running wires to hook it to internet. I have a Samsung plasma tv, so the tv remote will operate the bluray without needing to use both controls or buying a universal remote. Ive had it for a couple of months now and the only problem that I have had with it was one of the dvd not bluray that I was watching I couldnt get the volume to work on the bluray remote but it would with the tv remote. This is the only problem that I have had with it. I tried a different movie later and it worked just fine. Overall, Im glad I purchased it .

Ive been very happy with the purchase so far. The image quality is fantastic. Had very few issues setting up the system. Im pretty comfortable with computers and once I realized this thing is more like a computer than a video player it was pretty straightforward to set up. Took a few minutes to connect to my wi-fi at the house, but if you can connect your computer you should be okay. Weve experienced a few playback issues in the first few months of use, but re-booting the system seems to fix it every time. Streaming from Netflix is very convenient and the image quality is actually pretty good, music from Pandora is great - have not tried You Tube or Blockbuster.

Despite reading a mixed bag of reviews on Amazon.com for this device, I decided to give it a try and backed it up with a Squaretrade warranty. It has functioned flawlessly since Christmas setup was very quick, even the wireless connection was pretty straightforward. During the setup, I was prompted to download a firmware update, which stalled initially- but I just canceled it and restarted and it went right through. Most likely a computerinternet connection issue rather than a problem with the player- Ive seen this sort of thing before.
Picture and sound quality are awesome, the streaming capability puts it in a whole new category. Love it!

However, if you leave a disk in the player and turn it on, it doesnt really give you much control. It just starts the movie from where it left off. Sure, fine, but what if I wanna go listen to Pandora? You have to stop the disk once it fully spins up and has loaded menus. Plus, I am a bit nervous to find whether Samsung will ever add new features content providers such as Hulu or just make me buy a new one. It was a big purchase for me, but I have enjoyed it immensely. Now about that Hulu, and I will be done with cable forever...

The Samsung Blu-Ray Disc Player BDP3600 is as pleasing to the eye as it is to set up and use. Opening the box and using the setup guide to watch my first Blu-Ray was easy and only took 15 minutes and that encluded setting up the wireless feature for NET FLIX and YOUTUBE.
The instruction manual is well written and easy to understand, unlike some of the other brands.
I would recomend this unit to anyone looking to purchase a Blu-Ray Disc Player.

The samsung player has been mediocre. The system all depends on the quality of your TV, DSL line speed and other things. I bought the Y FI so I could connect wirelessly to my internet but it could not copy the entire programs and would stop in the middle to reload data. That was frustrating. We ended up getting a wire and hooking it up directly. Also, unless you have a great TV the blue rays dont make a huge difference. I was a bit disappointed. I mainly bought it to get net flix and have been able to do that successfully. Its like remodeling, once you update something you have to start replacing the rest of your stuff!!

I bought this as a chrismas present for my folks. They are not very good with electronics. My dad called me for a little help and then called me later to tell me the device was working great and that he was already watching a Netflix movie with it. If my folks can use it then it is easy to use. They also mentioned that the picture is amazing. Im sure it was probably the first Blu ray movie that they have seen and they are hooked.

I was looking for just a DVD player. I started to check out not just the better picture in a blue ray player, but also all the other features, Pandora Music, Net Flix and Blockbuster. Now I download all the movies I want to watch instantly. I got alot more than I ever imagined. This Samsung Blue Ray Player works beautifully, not a glictch. It is very user friendly. Im glad I ordered the 3600 because of the Netflix and YouTube. Also the Pandora. Set up was easy on and support for when I had a wireless question was great.

I love the design and ease to set up and program. The picture is clear with vivid brillant color. I had no problem with using it for Blu-ray discs or Pandora. However, the unit is about 12 feet from my computer and on the other side of a wall. I can stream Netflix movies to it and they play for about 10 minutes and then I lose the picture and the systems seems to have to reload the movie again. This happens continuously so Im now watching movies back on my computer.

Isnt technology great! We purchased the samsung blu ray for our bedroom, along with the samsung LED tv, and denon receiver, for our bedroom. I will not rent regular dvds. They have to be blu ray. BEAUTIFUL! Another great feature of the unit is the wireless set up. Boom, easy set up and the best is we can listen to Pandora radio through the blu ray. What can I say? Money well spent.

The BDP 3600 is part of a new genre of blu-ray players and succeeds Samsungs two earlier versions. I have two of these players purchased from separate sources, and bought them because the 3600 is the first Samsung model to allow internet streaming from Netflix, Pandora, Youtube and Blockbuster while simultaneously allowing periodic software updates via Samsungs website. An HDMI cable to your TV is a must for the future even if your service provider, like Comcast in my area, does not at this time support 1080p. My 1080i connection is unbelievably detailed, the sound is theater quality even on my paired Samsung 5.1 home theater and both units operate as smoothly and easily as they appear.
I did considerable research online prior to these purchases and frankly am puzzled by the number of negative comments as respects inability to establish a wireless connection, interference, dropped signals and the like. My units operate in flawless fashion and without signal interference even in a concrete house with metal framing! If there is a drawback to the BD3600 it lies with Samsungs poorly written manual and user-unfriendly interface as regards initial wireless hookup. I was fortunate to have a techie neighbor walk me through it the first time as it is not an intuitive process and may require a call to Samsung by those such as myself that are missing the electronic hookup gene, but overall these units are worth the investment and add immeasurably to the overall viewing and listening experience.

Its refreshing when a product performs exactly as its described. This Blu-ray player was very simple to set-up and it is very easy to use. The wireless connection is the way to go! 1. The P3600 lacks parental controls for access to the internet video streaming features. This is important for families with children because anyone can access Blockbuster, NetFlix, YouTube from the home screen when the device is connected via network cable or wirelessly.
2. The P3600 does have parental controls with different levels of security for playing blu-ray discs that are encoded with a certain type of rating system.
3. Samsung told me that they are working to add parental controls in a software fix that might be corrected with an update delivered through the internet connection..

This blue ray player is awesome and easy to use. I have it hooked up to Samsung PNB550 Plasma and it looks sharp. The online capabilities are easy to hookup and it responds faster than most of the other blue ray players I tested. Being online is very nice to keep firmware up to date. Upconverts DVDs really well compared to my upconverting Sony dvd player that doesnt seem to upconvert half as good as this insane player. I played Monsters VS Aliens on regular dvd and everyone thought it was a blue ray disc. I would deffinately buy this DVD player again..

Pros Super fast wifi, pandora, netflix, excellent upscale for regular Dvds, dynamite blu ray play, great options for connecting hardware, sound is outstanding, crisp and clean. The design also fits perfectly with the samsung line of products.
Cons Player feels a little delicate, top side button placement is odd, but a non issue with a remote, occasionally you have to reset your wifi connection when you close out, but nothing to lose sleep over.
Summary It is clear that for 2009 and into the forseeable future, everyone will want a Blu Ray Player with wifi because it just makes life so easy. The Samsung is the first out to market, and it is feature rich and plays sound and video like a champ. Watched Punisher War Zone on it this weekend, a fairly meaty film with a lot of fast paced action, and the player did not hiccup once, neither did the sound. The Dark Knight looked amazing and well. I used Walle as upscale, looked terrific. The only film so far that didnt look a lot better then I thought it would was Serenity, the Joss Whedon film that came out a few years back. I didnt see a lot of improvement in the picture from my regular DVD. Have no idea why, but its no big deal. The Price tag initially threw me but in the end, for a future proof player, its worth the investment. I would also recommend using a Samsung television with it if possible, the sync is a great feature, and once you have the perfect universal remote, your good to go!!!
