I just purchased an SUV and the salesman suggested it would be cheaper to purchase a portable DVD player rather than theirs, a $2000 option. I read the reviews and selected the Panasonic DVD LA-95. The product arrived within 24 hrs I only paid for 2 day shipping. We took the player on a plane trip and it was great. I have 2 teens and we bought a splitter for the headphones. The sound without the headphones is excellent too. The picture is crisp. The screen is sufficient at 9', I don't think there are any bigger on the market right now. The player itself is lightweight, fits anywhere. Batteries only last about 2-2 12 hrs so an adapter is a must for long trips. We've used it in the car and placed it on a pillow. No skipping. This player now travels everywhere with us.

This is my fifth and, by far, best portable dvd player. Panasonics are far better than any other brand and this is the best panasonic (I've owned three). The picture is fantastic. Most impressive is its minimal weight and thickness. I would highly recommend this player (but you need to buy a spare battery since the included battery only lasts about 1 1/2 hours.)

Using a clever battery design (it's in the hinge), Panasonic's made a really slim DVD player that's got a huge screen yet weighs no more than a small book.
The imagery on the 16:9 LCD is crisp and clear. Even in low brightness mode (to save on batteries), movies were clearly visible on the airplane. The player automatically displays anamorphic widescreen movies and 4:3 material with side bars. For titles that don't encode their screen size, you can manually select from several zoom modes, which is a nice touch.
The built-in speakers struggle to overcome the noise of the airplane, but that's what the headphone jack is for. Unfortunately, there's just one headphone jack. Other players I looked at included two, so bringing along your own splitter is a necessity when traveling with family, as I do.
When I got to the hotel, I plugged this player into the TV there using the supplied A/V cables, hit PLAY, and closed the lid. It doesn't have progressive video output, but then again, I haven't been in a hotel yet which had progressive-capable TVs! TV output is a great capability.
In addition to left/right stereo and composite video outputs, this player can do S-video, analog 5.1, and optical audio outputs, too.
Another great feature is the built-in MP3 decoder. I brought along a some CD-ROMS I burned with MP3 music files and we had days worth of listening pleasure. In fact, our trip ran out before our music did!
Panasonic's on-screen menus and controls are like their A/V component sized systems: a little confusing at times. I still can't figure out why "ACTION" is supposed to mean "SET UP." The little remote control is cute, but the cursor navigation and combined enter key knob is a bit finicky and requires a delicate touch.
Best of all, this player kept my daughter occupied during the flight, instead of crying out loud and begging to run around the plane. And the sleek design and beautiful screen will make you the envy of everyone else on the plane.
