In addition to DVDs you buy or rent, the DVM715 also plays DVD-R and -RW discs, which is a great feature to have these days with the increasing presence of DVD recorders. You can also play CD-R and -RW discs, including those containing MP3 and WMA8 audio files. You can even view still photos in the Kodak picture CD or JPEG format. As you can see, the DVM715 offers a variety of ways to keep you entertained.

Not only does the DVM715 play multiple formats, it does it in high fashion with progressive scan technology. Progressive scan technology featuring DCDi by Faroudja represents a vast improvement over the interlaced scanning method used in TV broadcasts and other conventional applications, as it can process around twice as much video data to produce a sharper, noise-free picture with finer details. High-definition video images are faithfully displayed with optimum naturalness and beauty. High resolution audio and video Digital-to-Analog converters also ensure a quality picture, and digital audio outputs provide a smooth path for Dolby Digital and DTS soundtracks. For fine tuning, you can adjust several aspects of the picture, including brightness, contrast, color and sharpness.

More Ways to Play

The DVD715 includes a wide variety of playback functions. For instance, if you have to stop in the middle of a movie and take it out of the player, the Resume Play feature will return to the exact spot you left off when you put the movie back in. You can also take advantage of Slow Play, Repeat Play (A-B, Chapter, Track, Disc), Random Play and Program Play. If you'd like to take a closer look at part of the movie, you can use the Picture Zoom. During play, when you press the Zoom button on the remote control, you can enlarge a picture by 2x or 4x. Use the cursor to move the enlarged viewing area up, down, to the left, or to the right.

Check Your Status

With the DVM715, the display on the front panel indicates whether a loaded disc is a CD or a DVD so that you can easily monitor the kinds of discs that are loaded. A simple press of the Display button on the remote controller lets you see the current operating status of the DVM715 within an easy-to-read display on screen. The various operations and settings are easily changed using the remote controller while monitoring the screen display. When you want to view video images with an aspect ratio of 4:3 on a 16:9 TV monitor, the Aspect Ratio function converts the images to the correct aspect ratio. This function also works the other way around, converting 16:9 images for output on 4:3 TV screens.

WOW! I was looking for a progressive scan DVD and CD carousel changer to get the full effect of my new 27' LCD and new Denon DHT 485XP. The DVM 715S is the perfect compliment to my Home AV arrangement. I couldn't be happier. Being able to pop in five cd's, hit random play and not have to worry about a thing for hours, is great. Sure hope my neighbors don't mind the great music being pumped through my system and outdoor speakers!
The picture and sound quality the DVM 715S offers is in a class by itself. I also have a combo DVDCDVHS unit for the kids hooked up, and the difference in picture and sound is night and day.
The features of being able to put in CD's, DVD's, Picture discs, Random play, programmed play, etc. are all a plus.
You can't go wrong with this unit. GET ONE!
