Multi-talented
Simply calling the XVN680B a DVD player is a big understatement. That's because it plays so much more than just DVDs. Say you want to listen to one of your CD or CD-R/RW discs you created with your computer. Just load it up in this player and let it roll. If you have a list of MP3s on your hard drive that you would like to listen to on your entertainment system, just burn them onto a disc and drop it in the player. It even plays WMA files. You can put JPEG images on a CD-R/RW and view them on your TV. Most DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW discs as well as VCDs and SVCDs will play nicely with this component, too. So simply calling this machine a DVD player doesn't really do it justice. There's a whole lot of entertainment potential packed into the XVN680B.
Gets along well with others
Not only does this versatile component play a wide variety of discs, it also hooks up to almost anything. With a range of inputs and outputs, you'll find this player is easy to connect with nearly any entertainment system. An HDMI connection means you can transfer high definition video and audio through a single cable to a compatible HDTV. The XVN680B even up-converts a standard DVD signal to 1080p to get the most from your compatible high definition television. Use the component video output to tap into the XVN680B's Progressive Scan output. You also have S-Video and composite video outputs for easy hook-up to almost any TV or A/V receiver. For easy integration into surround sound systems you have optical and coaxial digital audio connections available to provide pure Dolby Digital and dts surround sound to a compatible receiver or decoder with this connection available. This slim, stylish DVD player keeps a very low profile at just 1.6" to help you conserve space and it's standard component width (approx. 17") to enable stacking. With JVC's XVN680B, one size really does fit all.
Getting around
A graphical user interface (GUI) makes navigation easy with the XVN680B. This quick loading DVD player has lots of options to give you control of your viewing, including scan, skip, and slow play (forward and reverse), and program, random, and repeat play. A book marker feature takes you back to favorite scenes, and zoom play lets you get in close with compatible DVDs. If you want to view JPEG still pictures on your television, you'll appreciate the digital still (JPEG) slideshow with music capability.

The JVC DVD is a replacement for a worn out model similar to the one just ordered. I especially like the streamline style and simplicity of use. It fits right in the limited space where the old one came out, and is easy to operate and I am enjoying the player very much. As with most electronics now days, they have a limited use life - after which time, replacement makes much better sense than repair - this JVC unit fit that requirement to the T...

The unit is very lightweight and slim in design. It was very easy to setup and your preferences are easy to program also. The picture quality is great and it plays nearly anything. Only one small criticism the drawertray eject button is just a bit too close to the drawertray for big fingers like mine. Otherwise I give it 99 out of 100. Outstandingly value priced.

I needed a new DVD player after my 11 year old JVC dvd player stopped working. I tried 2 well-known brands but neither worked as well as on old dvd player. So I went online and found the JVC XV-N680B which had upconverting and HDMI. It did everything I wanted it to do! My search ended with another excellent JVC product!.

I have a 1080P JVC TV and combined it with this JVC DVD player. The 1080P definition is amazing! I watched Lord of the Rings again and couldnt believe what I had been missing during my previous viewing experience. The DVD player is very intuitive, has quick start-up, and lots of fast forward and rewind speeds. Based on research Ive done, JVC consistently rates among the best brand names without the high prices. Ive always purchased JVC when possible and have never been disappointed.
