Blu serves up the full home theater experience
Full, high definition audio and video . . . all thanks to a teeny blue-violet laser. That's the revolution offered by Blu-ray Disc. While DVD technology uses a wide red laser to encode audio and video on DVD discs, Blu-ray Disc technology uses a much narrower blue-violet laser, making it possible to fit a significantly larger amount of data on a disc of the same size. How much more data? Try five times more data! So, while DVDs store standard definition 480i video and 5.1-channel compressed surround sound, Blu-ray Disc serves up full 1920 x 180p high definition video as well as 7.1-channel, studio-master-quality audio. And that's not all. There's still space left over on Blu-ray discs for a wide range of bonus features, including extra scenes, director commentary, interactive features, and picture-in-picture BonusView viewing. Discover the Blu-ray Disc experience with the BD270 Blu-ray player from LG.
What the director intended for you to hear
While DVD technology marked a huge advancement over VHS, sacrifices still had to be made in transferring your favorite movies from the silver screen to your home theater. And perhaps the largest sacrifice concerned the audio portion of the home cinema experience. Audio data occupies much more space than does video, so in order to fit a movie's soundtrack on a DVD, the audio had to be compressed, or altered from its studio-original quality into a more compact form. Naturally, realism-enhancing detail was lost. Thanks to the dramatically improved storage capacity of Blu-ray disc, however, full 7.1-channel studio-quality surround sound can be placed on a single Blu-ray disc along with the video. Delivering this HD audio experience to the rest of your A/V system, the BD270 from LG sports Dolby TrueHD and dts-HD Master Audio decoding, the latest processing technologies from Dolby and dts. Further, 7.1-channel audio output delivers this full surround sound experience with superior fidelity. Hear movie audio as the director intended for you to hear it.
Hardly the end for DVD
Fear not: investing in the LG BD270 does not mean "lights out" for your DVD collection. Quite to the contrary. Advanced video-processing technologies allow the BD270 to upscale standard definition DVD video to near-HD 1080p levels via HDMI, optimizing your DVD collection for viewing on your HDTV.
A little multimedia functionality
There's no doubt about it — your HDTV would make a great venue for sharing all your latest digital photos. If only there were a way to get your photos from the computer to the HDTV . . . Enter the BD270 from LG, featuring a built-in USB 2.0 Media Host. Load your favorite shots onto a USB thumb drive, connect the thumb drive to the BD270 via the USB port, and voilà, you and your friends are reliving your adventures on your widescreen HDTV.

The definition and clarity of the images on my TV when using my new Blue Ray player is incredible! I could see the pores on the actors faces. The picture is just simply awesome. Easy to install and controls are easy to use. I had also purchased a Samsung LCD TV through Vanns a couple of years ago. I am thrilled with both products purchased through Vanns. Ill more than likely purchase a wider TV in the future as mine is only 40 Inches, and you better believe the first place Im looking is at Vanns. I feel for both purchases I couldnt beat the price or the products performance. Thanks Vanns!!!!!

This is a remarkable piece of video gear, producing spectacular images from Blu-ray DVDs. It also does a good job of playing conventional DVDs. Of course, being connected to an LG Hi-Def TV receiver helps! The price was right, too.

We love this stylish and thin player. We upgraded to blue ray for the obvious reasons and are glad we did. While it took this older person a while to figure out the remote, it does make sense and probably would have taken a lot shorter time if I had actually read the directions! The only downside is the omission of a HDMI cable, but since they come in many different lengths I understand the logic. Picture quality great. Thanks, Vanns, for another fine purchase. Great price, fast shipping, and attention to detail.

This blue ray player seems to be a perfect match for our new HD tv. Although we saw many more expensive players, this was recommended as everythig we needed to do the job and we find this right. It is easy to use, sends a wonderful picture, reacts immediately to the remote and does everthing we need.We have not found it incapable of anything we required or asked of it. We definitely recommend it. I dont know what else the more expensive Blue Ray Players may do, I just know that for us it does everything and does it well.

Overall this is a nice little player, its a little weak on the outputs. The specs on Vanns said it had both optical and coax bitsteam outputs, it only has a coax output . Also it was supposed to have component video outputs and doesnt . The system I wanted to use it in needed both of those so I had to swap my players around to use it. It performed well other than that and seems to load discs alot faster than my other player.

The audio quality is excellent and can handle many high quality formats like Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio. Video quality is excellent with blu-ray as well as SDregular DVD upconverts well. Rated very well in a report magazine for consumers. Yes, players coming out now have more or better features. But if you arent into the bells and whistles, this player is awesome. Especially for the money! Vanns had the best price when I bought it, and it has the best price today.

blue ray player great at first but started locking up mid movie shortly after bought. Returned for second unit. Second unit worked fine for a short period of time then started doing the same thing. Unit freezes up then needs to be powered off then restarted to play movie regardless of disk type.
Poor support from LG . . unit returned for service . . 69 buck service fee for work under warranty as stock LG warranty is 1 year but only on parts . . not labor!
Sony - full year!
Unit returned and now will not play any DVDs. Blueray disks play but freeze up half way through movie.
Going back again . . .maybe fourth time is the charm.
4 months old, replaced once, repaired twice . . . . . sony I bought at the same time is still working without a hitch!
Regardless of price, this unit is trash in my humble opinion!
