Internet junkies rejoice!
Are you in love the convenience of streaming media, but you don't want to give up the quality a component offers? Don't throw in the towel just yet. The fine folks at Sony created their top-of-the line BDP-S570 Blu-ray player just for you. Built with BRAVIA Internet Video, you'll have instant access to the likes of Netflix, YouTube, Pandora, Slacker, and Picasa. But you don't just have access to the Internet, any computer could do that. What makes the BDP-S570 worth it are the little extras, like DLNA compatibility, Gracenote Metadata Service accessibility, cross searching functionality, and iPod/iPhone compatibility. Yes, all those independent conveniences just landed on the mother ship of entertainment technology. The S570 also has I/P noise reduction, which actually improves the image quality of the streaming video. Oh yeah, the S570 plays Blu-ray and it's 3D ready.
And the award for "Best Picture" goes to . . .
In the movie world, "picture quality" depends, largely, on the budget you throw at a film. In the digital world, picture quality depends on bit rates. For example, DVDs can deliver 10 Mbps. HDTV broadcasts can reach 19 Mbps. But Blu-ray Disc outshines them all with up to 48 Mbps! Quite simply, Blu-ray is the best home video source. Ever. At the same time, it provides seriously sweet surround sound. With up to 7.1 channels of surround sound and options for up to 32 streams of audio, the BDP-S570 is an amazing experience for your ears. Blu-ray Disc can deliver concert videos and music videos that will make you want to get up on stage and sing with the performers. To put it in other terms, Blu-ray is like "Gone With the Wind," "West Side Story," "The Godfather," "Forrest Gump," "Titanic," and "Gladiator" all rolled together into one visually captivating, auditorily enthralling feast for the senses.
WiFi: Clearing up space for your dirty socks
Gone are the days of wading through the slithering mass of network cables strung out between your home theater system and your computer. Yes, three cheers to the Wi-Fi Alliance for untethering us from the burdensome aspect of technology, making our lives clutter free. And four cheers to Sony for putting WiFi in the S570.
What was once not even remotely possible is now a remote
Can you imagine your grandpa, 50 years ago, sitting in his La-Z-Boy, changing the channel on his tube television with the rotary dial telephone? For anyone actually alive during the age of the console t.v. and the rotary dial phone—come on, I know I'm not the only one left. I'm not even old yet!—the thought is comical. For anyone born post-1990, the idea of not using your phone for every possible daily task is inconceivable. And just when you thought every i app ever possible had been created, Sony came up with one for their Blu-ray player. Their free app allows you to operate and control the S570 via your iPhone or iPod touch.
It's not the destination, it's the journey.
Unless we're talking about home entertainment, that is. Your family doesn't want to spend two hours waiting for the movie to load and two seconds watching it. That's why Sony made sure the BDP-S570 is first out of the gates with the Quick Start mode. Be prepared though, it's so quick, you might miss something.
DLNA: Because we can all get along
The BDP-S570 allows you to wirelessly stream digital photos from your PC or other Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) enabled devices to your Blu-ray Disc player. How does it work? First you need to set up a home network — wired or wireless because DLNA Certified devices today connect and communicate with each other via the network. If you're new to networking, this may sound daunting. It's not. The smart capabilities of most hardware nowadays makes set up a snap. Once you have your network established, all you need to do is connect DLNA-certified products. (DLNA-certified products are built to work together no matter which company made the product. And there are currently 60 corporations collaborating, so opportunities abound.) Now you can print photos you're viewing on your t.v. or telephone, play music from a variety of devices, play movies located on your computer — the possibilities are endless. The beauty of collaboration is the freedom of choice.
Sustaining entertainment
Adding to the depth of your entertainment experience, Gracenote Metadata Service gives you access to detailed information about the movies you're watching. There's even a cross search functionality that allows you to easily search select BRAVIA Internet Video partners for entertainment and information related to the disc that you're watching.
When opportunity knocks. . .
How many times has your pal arrived at the door, thumb drive in hand, dying to show you this, wanting you listen to that? Well the S570 accommodates even the most demanding technoficionado with its convenient front USB slot.
Redefining high definition—just add 3D
See and hear a whole new dimension in High Definition with Sony's BDPS570. With the advent of new 3D TV, Sony adds 3D technology to their Blu-ray Disc player. And the crystalline clarity of 1080p Blu-ray Disc movies, Blu-ray 3D media, and DVD upscaling that can bring your DVDs to the highest possible quality, means your favorite movies have never looked or sounded so good. Elevate your HD experience with the S570 Blu-ray Disc player. Featuring Full HD 1080p video output, you can take full advantage of your HDTV and the unparalleled detail of Blu-ray Disc video content. Plus, this player upscales your existing DVD collection to near HD quality via HDMI. Finally, with a built-in Ethernet port and wireless functionality, you can connect to the Internet to download and stream BD-Live content such as additional scenes, shorts, trailers, and more.

Preparing the Sony Blu-Ray is not as easy as they would like you to think. If your not part of the numberous web sites they have preloaded they do you very little good. The main reason I purchase this model is wireless capability, hulu, and netfix. It has met all those requirements. There are times when the wireless is not as fast as I would like, a lot of retrying to establish contact, but well within acceptable usage. This is my third Blu-ray, they are replacing dish. They help reduce my entertainment cost by only having to pay for Hulu and Netflix. This unit is by for the best for value. Recommend buying a midrange price unit over a less expensive one. Option capability is everything. Great Blu-ray picture with dvds and internet quality is very acceptable. Happy with this model

First off, Vanns customer service is the best.
The Sony Bluray player starts up very fast and is easy to set up and the user interface is great. The one thing I dont like about one of the internet apps, Netflix, is you cant search movies from the app. You have to add movies to your Que from your netflix account on your computer. Other then that, the HD quality of netflix movies is very good.
Over all, I am happy with this player. My last Sony player, one if the first blu ray players, took over a minute to start up. This one takes about 10 seconds.
Have fun and thanks Vanns.

The Sony BDPS570 Blu-ray player is an incredible product. Sony has done it again!! It is probably the easiest electronic device I have ever hooked up. If you can read prompts on your tv and press buttons....you can program this blu-ray player.
After reading some of the reviews, I was concerned about the play of the Streamed movies i.e. Netflix however, I quickly found out their problem MUST have been with their internet connection speed....not the blu-ray player. I have not had any problems AT ALL with the play of ANY movies.

We bought this DVDBlu Ray player and matched it up with a new Sony KDL55HX800 3D TV. The Blu Ray quality is outstanding and the 3D content is very good with just a little crosstalk evident when we move the glasses slightly off center. Very good size unit and will be connecting the wireless internet soon. Overall, we are very satisfied with this combination. This was a replacement for a Samsung BD-6800 player that was connected to the Samsung PNC508000 plasma TV. Nothing wrong with that player but the plasma picture was way to dark for our tastes once we got the set home and replaced it with the Sony units. Like I said so far, no problem with the Sony units. Also has a fairly quick start-up time compared to my older LG player. I use a closed non-broadcasting wireless network, and no problem connecting to it. You like the player to your online accounts Slacker, Pantora, Amazon on demand on a computer, and the sony web site is fairly clear on how to do it. I got this because it was only about $20 more than others with the potential for 3D if I get one of thse TVs in the future.

I dont have any Blueray discs yet, but I have enjoyed the ease of use for my current DVD library. Controls are easy to use picture quality is great setup was not difficult. The unit is sleek in design and looks good with my Sony TV and 5.1 Surround Sound Home Theater system. Profile is very nice without lots of buttons showing I like this!

This Blu Ray by Sony is the best machine Blu Ray I have owned. It beats my previously high-rated Panasonic hands-down. The loading speed and the simplicity of the controls makes this player the one to keep. I basically plugged in the machine to the TV and tuner, dropped a DVD in the tray, and the rest was apparent. Given the reasonable cost of this machine, I cant think of a reason to go more upscale than this model. Moreover, it is 3D ready.

I received the item purchased, on time, as promised.
I unpacked the item, read the instructions, connected power, turned it on and it worked! It was that simple.
I highly recommend this Vanns for your supplier and Sony for your product.

Everything I read about this unit was accurate.
Set-up time was counted in mere minutes with no head scratching, frustration or confusion . The remote is nicely designed and very responsive -my 6 year old daughter could navigate menus within minutes.
Wireless connectivity was achieved immediately and signal strength seems to be better than my laptop.
Netflix and Pandora set-up could not have been easier and both function perfectly. Picture quality seems good, although I have not yet upgraded my tv so I cannot be more precise than that.
As someone who does not have cable, satellite or network tv hooked up, this unit opens up a whole new world of content and is thus a very economical investment.

I am very happy with my recent purchase of the Sony Blu-ray BDPS570.
The main reason for my purchase was to stream video with my Netflix membership.
The setup was fairly easy and the video quality is great!
Extremely happy with my purchase so far...

Sony products are synonymous with quality and reliability. In the past, they have put out some great midline BD players. Yet each model seemed to yearn for something better via omission of one or two features. The most annoying for me has been the exclusion of the eject button on the remote. Seems petty, but why not include it? The 2010 lineup of their BD players has been highly anticipated. 3D TV is still virgin in terms of actuality, so let's just toss that notion aside and focuses on what is The model 570. I am not sure why, but this player has been difficult to obtain upon release. Vanns has their great email notification system for out-of-stock items, and once again it has served the customer well. I had been searching all over the web for retailers that had this model in stock and Vann's became one of the first after many a weeks wait following Sony's original release. I had been basking in all the positive reviews during my waiting period, and having this unit in use for almost a month now I am 95 percent satisfied. The player is small and thin, but that does not balk at the solid construction. Setup was seamless and dummy-proof. The largest challenge was the WiFi. Manufacturers continue to include the verbage Security Key when what they really are requiring is your password to your WiFi router. This continues to be highly annoying, but since I had been thru this setup situation twice before I knew what to do. When you are setting up the WiFi in the 570, enter your router PASSWORD when it asks for the Security Key. The rest of the setup was a breeze. Pic quality is superb in both BD and DVD. Not too impressed with the displaying of photos via USB port, but that is not what I have the player for. There is a huge selection of extra viewing choices on the web. The Netflix option, which I previously had to hook up my laptop to my 60 Sony TV to view, looks awesome and is a much-utilized feature in my home. Disc loading time is lightning fast, and already discs that would not load in my 2nd gen Samsung player have loaded fine. BTW, first requirement after initial setup is to perform a system update. Many neg reviews have stemmed from these ignorant users who pollute the knowing with their complaints in their reviews simply due to the fact that they failed to perform this basic but all-important step in their setup. My one and only Con for this player is the same beef I have with the Panasonic line of players I returned theirs after discovering this. When watching, for instance, later seasons of The Simpsons DVDs, the player does not communicate over HDMI the correct aspect ratio to my Sony TV. It instead stretches the 43 pic to a 16:9 and I am forced to reset my TV's wide mode to Normal. This is especially a problem when in the later seasons you have the option to display the deleted scenes during play, and when transitioning to those the TV goes back into wide mode. Well folks, enough rambling for now. In conclusion, the Sony BDPS570 player is just what 2010 deserves. You have given us a full-featured, easy to setup and use BD player- with room for future enhancements. Thank you Sony!!! After all these models, getting it right and combining all the best features into one player is a reality.

I would give it a 55. The Menu interface is vastly improved and the Wireless is spot on.
I had the Sony BDPS 300 and despite the patches it could not decode True HD and DTS Master Audio. the 570 is very sleek and nicely built. After 2-3..weeks of research I waited for this one to be released since it was the best for the price and features. Way better than a LG or a Samsung. When it comes to BluRay Sony leads the way...period. Vaans as always have excellent track record !
