Experience true cinema viewing right in your living room
There are a lot of differences between going to the movie theater and staying home watching a flick. But the differences don't have to be in the quality of the visual and audio experience. The increased resolution of Blu-ray Discs was a step in the right direction. Panasonic's DMPBD60 takes things a few steps further with technology like the PHL Reference Chroma processor and the p conversion processor. These two bits of electronic intelligence combine to create UniPhier, a precise digital video processor that produces sharp, crisp, natural colors that are extremely faithful to the original movie.
The ultimate playback source for high definition 1080p content
Blu-ray media offers a wide range of functions that foster the transition to HD including 1080p image quality, lossless Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, and versatile picture-in-picture applications. The DMPBD60 adds the new BD-Live function, which uses the Internet to further enhance your entertainment experience by allowing you to download additional contents and share the information with other BD-Live users. You can also use Viera Cast, an internet functionality that will let you access Amazon.com's huge library of Video On Demand titles. An included SD memory card slot gives you even more flexibility to watch HD videos or slideshows you've recorded on your own. Don't be tied down to one format. The DMPBD60 gives you the freedom to access HD content wherever you want it.
HD networking with an SD card
Networking is an essential product of the DMPBD60. The included memory card slot allows for easy transferring of images from an HD camcorder or digital still camera via an SD memory card. You can simply insert the SD card into the DMPBD60 to view images on a large screen HD flat panel television with AVCHD format video images or JPEG stills in full 1920 x 1080 resolution.
One-touch control from your TV's remote
With the DMPBD60's VIERA Link&trade HDAVI control, you can control your Blu-ray Disc player and all your Panasonic home theater components with your TV's remote. Simply press the VIERA Link button and select "BD Player" on the menu screen; the DMPBD60's menu will be displayed and you can begin playback.

This Blu-ray player has a great price, is super simple to set up, and has insane picture quality- much better than expected! I was going to buy a cheaper Blu-ray player, but I got this one for free with the purchase of my TV! Thanks again Vanns It has DVD up scaling, which is not a lie at all. It really does play my DVDs much better than my old DVD Player. I have not had a problem with this player, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great Blu-ray player.
Once again nobody beats Vanns prices and service!

I extenisively researched several other top brands of Blu-ray players and found the Panasonic to be the best choice as in performance and least amount of mechanical defects. The quality of the picture is excellent! Much better than expected. The clarity and shapness is enhanced through the HDMI connection. Watcing home movies and digital photos is unbelievable. The remote looked seriously complicated, but isnt. The price is very affordable and well worth it. I would suggest the Panasonic over the Sony, JVC and many others out there. I bought the Panasonic Blu-ray player to play on our new LED TV and used it on our year old LCD. It plays fantastic on both. WE LOVE IT! Panasonic has the least amount of refurbished blu-ray players and other electronic equipment out there being returned and resold.

Connect with a HDMI cable, turn it on and youre set. And without breaking the bank account. Contrary to some reviews Ive read it does not seem to be excessively slow on loading or reading times for blueray or standard DVDs. You do have to wait about 20 seconds after you hit the open button for the system to turn on and accept the command but once booted seems reasonably fast.
Picture is awesome especially when using standard DVDs as they seem very close to the resolution of Blueray with the upconversion to 1080p. Now if someone would finally make a DVD that was true 7.1 Surround sound Id be in 7th heaven.

For the price this is a good unit. I bought it because of the quality I have found with other panasonic products.. I have since seen the unit for less, but thats OK.
Its blue ray performance is outstanding, but is not consistent in upconverting regular dvds - .
It seems to depend on the vintage of the software. Older classical music concert dvds look better using my 8 year old panasonic dvd player probably taken from videotapes.
All in all, no real complaints. No problems yet with needing to update software.

This is the Blu-ray player we selected for classroom use in my department at The University of Montana. In 7 months of use we have had no malfunctions and no complaints from faculty or students.
Because I was pleased with this unit I bought one for home use and another as a gift for my son. We have both been happy with the convenient and intuitive controls and ease of operation.
The BD60 upgrades DVDs to the point that I often use the Blu-Ray player rather than the DVD player in order to take advantage of this higher quality.
I dont find it easy or useful and sometimes not possible to utilize alternate formats such as .jpeg. Many photos do no display at all via the SD or USB interface and proportions are distorted. This unit does not seem to read DIVX movie files at all. Perhaps the next model will.

If you do your research, as I did, you will discover that the professional reviews report that instead of trying to compete and build a lesser product Panasonic combined parts manufacturred by technology companies that are at the top. This unit has the best of the best from top to bottom! Many other manufacturers will report high ratings for limited features, but this unit recieves high ratings across the board. As Blu-Ray is the new technology, there is much competition, but Panasonic has perfected manufacturing a superior product in a very short time!

Nice Blue ray... Great picture with Blue rays of course... the SD slot is great if you have a camera that uses them... USB port up front, easily accessible... it takes a minute to open, read, and play but if youre that anal you need to reassess what is important in life and what is not... the upscaling works o.k. on some of my DVDs... not so great on others... seems like the newer the better... I dont stream Netflix or anything else so I cant comment there... I bought it for the SD slot and because it came highly recommended by some internet sites and by the people at Vanns... since Vanns had the best price on it I bought it... Blue ray 300 looked great on it... regular Gladiator looks o.k... Hangover looked much better... my concert DVDs look o.k. on it so the upscaling isnt anything to write home about... My brother and I bought the same tv... sweet Samsungs... but he went with a Vizio Blue ray... cheap... $110... his plays Gladiator way clearer... didnt compare any other movies but the Panasonics upscaling doesnt impress me much... especially after seeing my brothers make Gladiator look like a Blue ray... Id consider other BDs if I were you... me? Like I said, I like the SD slot... so Ill stick with this one...

Great picture with this Panasonic Blueray player on both the Blue Ray and the DVD movies. It may my observation but I believe it gives a better picture with the DVD than my original DVD player. Unbelieveable picture with the Blue Ray disk. The TV is a Panasonic Plasma, the combination of the both of them is a great system.

Vanns through this in for free as part of a bundle when i purchased my Samsung 55 LCD from them. This is my first blu ray player and i couldnt be happier. Has BD Wise so communicates flawlessly with my Samsung Home Theatre and the picture of any DVD not just Blu Ray, is great. Would recommend anybody looking for electronics to check Vanns.com first for great pricing and customer service!

We enjoy the Blu Ray player, but we have to manually unplug one fiber optic cable and plug in another on our entertainment system to get sound from the Blu Ray unit.
We dont really see any difference between Blu ray and regular DVD as the quality of the picture looks the same to us on our new 46 LED television set.

I wanted a Blu Ray for watching Blu Ray discs. Didnt need any internet connection or an SD card slot or anything fancy. I wanted a reasonably priced good quality video player. I saw a Consumer Reports review that put this one at the top of their list and it was very reasonably priced at Vanns. I got it very quickly and it was very easy to set up. One HDMI connection to my LG TV and it was ready to go. I dont have any audio receiver in use with this player. I think the video is excellent and the remote is simple and easy to use. Im not a techno geek, Im a middle aged guy who wants good quality video to watch movies once in awhile. For what I spent, I got more than what I expected with the Panasonic BD60.

GREAT Blue-Ray,DVD player. A great priceperformer. However there is an update to the devices code V2.2. While it maybe easy to update to this level using a Router Connection, is not that easy if you have to download the code from the service site to a CD-R disc. You need to be sure to use the panasonic, jpsupportglobal site. There is another global site that does not have the code. You must use Microsoft XP3 as VisaWindows 7 can NOT create the disk format needed. V2.2 has some functions believe are important.Such as 1080P..
With V2.2 I believe it to be an excellent disc player particularly with a Panasonic Plasma set.

I bought this player to use in our bedroom. The main reason I chose it was because it was relatively inexpensive, under $150 and I have had good luck with Panasonic products in the past. Since it is in our bedroom, I cannot comment on how well it performs audio decoding, but the picture looks great. We run it via HDMI to a 40 inch Sony XBR3 LCD set. It has been my experience that most Blu-ray players do a superb job of handling Blu-ray movies with regards to video performance. We have also owned Samsung and LG players and the Panasonic does Blu-ray just as well as those other brands. The Samsung we had was an earlier model, the BDP-1400. It did a great job of playing back Blu-ray discs, we use our receiver to decode the audio, so again I cannot comment on the performance in that area. However, the Samsung needed to have its firmware updated every few months which was a bit tedious. Also as a profile 1.0 player it was very slow to load discs. With the Panasonic we have had no such problems, and the load time is considerably quicker. The AVCHD playback capability is also nice as we can plug in the memory card from our camcorder and play it directly on the TV. The Panasonic is not as fast as the LG BD-390 but the LG is more than twice the price of the Panasonic player. If you want a solid player that delivers strong Blu-ray performance at a great price, look at the Panasonic DMP-BD60.

First, I thought Id never make the move to high def tv, then I did and am really enjoying the result. I thought it wouldnt be a big deal, but learn differently quickly. A freind suggested that I get a blu-ray player and I didnt think it would be a noticeable change, but made the upgrade and highly recommend it. The hook-up was easy and immediately enjoyable. I have absolutely no complaints about the Panasonic player I got. The price was right even though I missed Vanns Xmas sale on them and I love the new look and the sound is really incredible, too. Surround sound on the blu-ray is somehow different and always enjoyable.

This is my 3rd Blu-ray player I have bought in 3 years. The Blu-ray picture quality is outstanding. The Viera cast is easy to use and has a very well thought out menu design. Within 5 minutes of hooking it up I was streaming you tube videos. This player also up-converts standard DVDs almost as well as my Pioneer Elite Dvd player. I have not been able to find any other Blu-ray player in the $200 price range that has the video quality this one has. I highly recommend it!

Bought it and use it, not impressed by it. Panasonic just doesnt seem to get it. Not everybody has only Blu-ray discs to watch. The up-scaling on this machine is fair at best. I have a PS2 that plays standard definition DVDs as well. Now, blu-ray disc playback is outstanding! Color, clarity and sound are perfect. The remote is fair, you need to jump through hoops to get the sub-titles on it. Up-dating firmware is a snap if you connect via Ethernet. I would rate it a 6 out of 10 due to lack of up-scaling ability and the archaic remote.
