Professional photography captures every detail
With the DSLRA900 digital SLR camera body from Sony, it'd be pretty hard to miss a detail. First, the 35mm full-frame Exmor CMOS image sensor is approximately 2.35 times larger than the sensor found on many DSLR cameras. The resulting larger capture area improves wide-angle performance and tightens depth-of-field control for professional performance. Second, the DSLRA900's 24.6-megapixel resolution maximizes the resolving power of your lens, delivering sharper, higher-contrast, more detailed photos. The DLSRA900 defines detail.
A steady shot, no matter the situation, no matter the lens
Many a "perfect shot" has fallen victim to a common culprit — cold temperatures, adrenaline, anything that causes hand shake. Building on years of expertise, Sony has developed the world's first body-integrated image stabilization solution for a full-frame DSLR. The SteadyShot INSIDE in-camera image stabilizer actually shifts the image sensor to compensate for camera shake without sacrificing image quality. The compensation effect is equal to as many as four shutter-speed steps, giving you more creative freedom when shooting in low light. Further, because SteadyShot INSIDE technology is integrated into the DSLRA900's body, it works with all compatible Sony Alpha system lenses.
For when you're in the thick of the action
As a seasoned photographer, you know that sometimes, when the conditions are just right, you need to be able to shoot faster than you can press the shutter button. Imagine: a breakaway at a sporting event, wildlife darting through the trees, a fireworks display. Featuring dual BIONZ image processors, the Sony Alpha DSLRA900 is able to deliver true-to-life images with ultra-low noise at a continuous shooting rate of 5 frames per second.
The ultimate view
Your ability to see your subject is crucial to composing and exposing the perfect shot. Sony's Alpha DSLRA900 offers both a clear view of any subject and advanced technologies for customizing a shot's exposure, whether before or after the shot. First, the DSLRA900's ultra-bright, 100% coverage glass pentaprism viewfinder provides you with amazing clarity and high optical performance for tighter focus control. Further, it offers viewfinder magnification of 0.74x, allowing you to see an image nearer to its actual size, as well as 100% field coverage for detailed framing work. Second, the 3.0" Xtra Fine LCD viewscreen offers stunning detail for both reviewing and correcting images right on the camera. Finally, Intelligent Preview gives you the ability to see the effects of manual adjustments to exposure value, shutter speed, aperture, dynamic range, and white balance before you even take the shot. Take the ideal shot the first time.
The ideal gallery
There's no better place to show off all the great shots from your latest photographic adventure than on your HDTV. With direct HDMI output, the DSLRA900 lets you view and share your photos in breathtaking clarity and detail on your HDTV. If you're using a PhotoTV-capable Sony BRAVIA HDTV, the HDTV's display will automatically optimize display settings to display your pictures in a way that more closely matches the natural look of printed photographs.
Dual memory slots
Giving you versatile options when choosing image-storage media, the DSLRA900 sports dual memory-card slots. Each slot supports both CompactFlash media and Memory Stick Duo memory cards.
Ready for any adventure
You need a camera body that's ready to go as far as you are to find the perfect shot. The Sony DSLRA900's die-cast magnesium-alloy shell provides a rugged, durable camera body that is surprisingly lightweight. Further, sealed viewfinder optics and rubber gasket surrounds on all buttons, dials, and switches help resist the entry of dust and moisture into the camera, allowing for safe use in a variety of environments. Finally, the supplied rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides long-lasting performance, capturing up to 880 images on a single charge.

After using several DSLRs before this one i.e. Canon 5D, 10D, Sony A100, this is the first camera that Ive used where I dont feel the need to actively find a better camera. I am not only amazed by the amount of detail it captured, but also by its ability to capture the details at 5fps. The camera performs well enough in low-light conditions that I havent found the need to constantly carry around an external flash as I have with previous DSLRs Ive used. A single battery is able to easily last me through a whole day of shooting. Despite the camera having been out for a while, if you dont mind the weight... high-quality lensesthis camera combined weighs quite a bit... and dont need video recording or live preview, I would definitely recommend this camera.

I upgraded to the A900 from the A700 and I am blown away! The A700 was an amazing camera but this one is just amazing! It stands to reason that it would be though. It has a Full Frame sensor in it whereas the A700 has an APS-C sized sensor. The files can be rather large but it allows you some extra room to crop down and still have very nice detailed shots. I would not trade this camera for any of the other current Sony models available as of writing this review. If you are an old Minolta shooter or a newer Sony one such as myself you will definitely be pleased with this camera. In case you did not know one of the great benefits of the Sony DSLRs is that you can use the old Minolta autofocus lenses with them. There is some very nice glass out there that can be had for very reasonable prices. You can not say the same for the likes of Canikon.
