This is my first digital camera. The FZ-1 camera is great. The Leica 12x zoom is an unprecedented feature, not found in other cameras in this price range. The FZ-1 has only a 2.1-Mb sensor but the photos are very clear and sharp. The 2.1 Mb sensor and the 12x optical zoom make a great combination, versa higher Mb and a digital zoom as the quality you loose when you have to use the digital zoom. It is difficult to see your subject on the LCD screen when taking pictures in low light conditions. In reading other camera's reviews this appears to be a common compliant with digital cameras. I like the AntiShake, which I have on my camcorder and how it helps with high zoom shots, just another feature of this great camera. My wife posts items on ebay, 30 minutes after getting the camera out of the box she was posting great pictures to ebay. The price and service from Vann's were great!

Ordering online can be intimidating because you don't know how you will be dealt with. Vann's made it so easy and care free, better than if I bought it at a local store. Kudos to Vann's!
I ordered a brand new FZ1 and it arrived in perfect condition just a few days later. All the items were in the box just as listed on the Panasonic literature and it was brand spanking new.
This is a special camera. Most people today buy strictly high mega-pixel cameras and never look at the other details. The Leica lens on the FZ1 is remarkable. It is a 12x optical not digital zoom that stays at 2.8 all the way through the zooming. This lens makes the FZ1 stand out among all the other digicams. It is tack sharp corner to corner, and just like the Leica name implies, you are getting something really special.
The FZ1 is responsive, it is ready to shoot after you turn it on in about 2 seconds. After you shoot the picture, the camera is back and ready to shoot again very quickly, unlike my previous digicam that made me wait and wait while writing the picture to the card.
I have printed stunningly sharp and vibrant pictures all the way to 8x10. The FZ1 has AntiShake which is something every camera should have. The pictures even in low light, have no blur and look sharp as a tack making award winning prints.
I recommend this camera highly. Don't be fooled by the fact that it has only 2mp. Unless you regularly print at sizes much larger than 8x10 you have no worries. I do recommend you purchase a larger SD card because being that the pictures are 'free', you will likely take tons of pictures with this incredibly fun camera.

This is my first digital camera after always using film. The 12X zoom lens is awesome. This camera takes great closeups and outdoor pictures. Indoor pictures in low light are a little more difficult to take due to the inability to see your subject on the lcd screen. Although this is only a 2.1 megapixel camera, it take sharp pictures as long as you don't need larger than a 5x7 picture. Since it has fewer pixels you can take more pictures at the finest resolution,310 pictures on a 256 card. The picture quality is due to the fantastic lens. My 4x6 pictures look as sharp and saturated as my film cameras. I am very happy with this camera. If you want a great point and shoot digital camera for snapshots with an awesome lens, this camera could be for you also.

I ordered this camera from Vann's on 7-20-2003 with 2nd day air delivery. I received it on the 2nd day.
The FZ-1 camera is great. The 12x zoom is a remarkable feature of the camera. I have used the camera daily since receiving it and have taken some very impressive photos. The FZ-1 has only a 2.1 mb sensor but the photos are very clear and sharp. I have enlarged several photos to 8x10
