I am a frequent user of digital cameras. I did have canon and Kodak for sometime with 5MP picture quality. But recently I purchased Panasonic Lumix 4MP with Leica technology. The quality of picture is amazing the image stabilization at higher zooms is great. As I read the manual more and more, themore I become fan of this camera.Another good feature is the strength of the camera in taking pictures during night time. It has very special light control sytem and easy to understand from the manual. Overall this camera is excellent for the price I got from Vanns.com and I recommend this camera to those who are interested in serious digital photograhy.

I decided it was finally time to upgrade to a new digital camera from my old Sony 1.3 Megapixel. I spent a lot of time online reading and sifting through countless reviews. I decided to look for an ultrazoom camera with at least a 10x optical zoom. When all was said and done, I decided on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ10S over the Canon S1 IS, the Kodak DX6490, and the Olympus C770UZ.

What drew me to the Lumix was the great 12x optical zoom and the image stabilization feature. Only the Canon had image stabilization among the others that I looked at. I felt it was important to get this feature with the large zoom.

I really like all the manual controls that allow you to run the show the way you want. I also love the large 2' high resolution LCD screen. It makes it very easy to see my pictures.

I'm still getting the hang of taking pictures indoors in low light, often experimenting with the different settings to see which one looks the best.

Overall, I'm really looking forward to honing my picture taking skills and with this camera's manual controls, there's plenty of room to grow from novice to pro.

And finally, I was a little skeptical of purchasing a camera online, but after realizing that this camera is VERY hard to find at brick and mortal stores, I decided to give Vanns.com a try. I was impressed by all the sparkling reviews and not nary a negative remark. Well after dealing with them myself, I can emphatically echo the sentiments of the other reviewers about Vanns.com service. I have wanted to buy a 'serious' snap and shot camera for quite sometime, I was looking for several features great zoom and automaticmanual modes.

I came about the FZ1 at first, and I wanted to get that one for the size. But when I learned about the FZ10 I fell in love instantly.

I got the camera a few weeks ago for a trip to Asia this summer, because I want to take as many amazing pictures as possible. And this camera delivers it!

At first when you open the box you expect a gigantic camera, although it is big, it's not the size of a professional camera, although it is bigger than the other 'ultra-zooms' in the market. But it's not as big when it's in your hands. It is very easy to use. Just pop in the memory card and let the battery sit for roughly an hour to charge and off you go. Or connect the AV adaptor, if you are eager to play with the new toy.

When you turn the camera on, you don't even need to look at the instructions. The camera itself gives you the 'commands', for example 'turn flash on' for portrait mode, or 'no memory card'.

Also the menu is pretty self explanatory. If you want to erase the camera will show press 'up' or 'down', or 'side arrow' to continue shooting.

Or for trimming a picture right on the camera as I used earlier today it'll say 'left arrow' 'right arrow' for moving area, 'up' for zoom, and 'down arrow' to set.

Besides that, the camera has nice features, the video mode with audio which records audio that is pretty far, I tested it with a car racing, and it recorded the announcer very clearly.

Also, it has a flip animation. Which you select that in your menu, then start taking a picture of for example, as I tried a lego person, and start moving its hand, a bit at a time and take a pic each time, and voila, it'll convert it into a quicktime movie!! You will see the lego person waiving its hand! very cool feature.

The manual modes are nice. I can't say much about it because I'm still learning how to control aperture and shutter speeds. But the camera is FAST!!

The camera also has this autofocus and manual focus, and if you press down lens barrel to the left it'll focus your object when it is in manual focus.

Another very nice feature is the HDTV mode under 'picture size' it takes pictures in widescreen mode!

I found 2 flaws with the camera. But these are 'minor' which are 1 you cannot zoom inout while it's recording video. 2 You cannot thread a 72mm filter onto the lens, you must use the lens hood to use filters.

The battery lasts for quite a while. I played with it and the flash for roughly 216 photos with the LCD screen, and it died after that. But 216 pictures is a lot!!



This camera offers a lot of other features that I don't mention, I mentioned the most 'obscure' features, other people mention them in reviews. You can get more reviews on other websites dedicaded to reviewing cameras.

Overall, this is a great camera. It has everything I was looking for in a digital camera, and with an added bonus that it's in the 'ultra zoom' category.

Also don't forget to buy the 512MB SD card, because files specially video files can get big - 1.30mins 40MB and you want to take as many pictures you can with such an amazing apparatus!

I am totally pleased with my purchase experience at Vann's. I had researched digital cameras and settled on the Panasonic DMC-FZ10 as my first digial camera. Ordering from an internet company I haven't used before is a little intiminating for me. I shouldn't have worried. I have owned this camera for about 2 weeks now and am very impressed. My husband and I wanted a camera with at least a 10x zoom like our old camera and when we came across the 12x by panasonic we were in love! I've heard a few complaints that it's hard to hand-hold at 12x zoom which is true with all large zoom cameras but I have been able to hand-hold alot of pictures taken at 12x with the fz10. The image stabilization is a major plus!

There was one problem that alot of people seemed to experience that almost kept me from buying the fz10 and that is the poor low-light focusing. I have yet to see ANY problems with focusing in low-light as long as the flash is on. The night I got my camera I snuck in to my toddler's room which was pitch black and took a very bright and clear picture of her sleeping. I had the flash on but was about 10 ft away and it lit the whole room perfectly! That's when I knew I had bought the perfect camera! It has yet to disappoint us in anyway.

The menu was very easy to learn within minutes just by playing with it a little. I highly recommend the Panasonic FZ10 to anyone looking for a large-zoom camera that is very versatile for a great price!

I purchased the FZ10 a couple weeks ago, and I can't be more pleased. I've owned or had the opportunity to extensively test more than 20 consumer and prosumer level digicams over the last 5-6 years, and this one is the one I'm gonna have for a LONG time!

I took it to the annual EAA Sun'N'Fun fly-in in Florida and took more than 1000 shots. Many were of fast planes making high-speed passes, and many of still subjects. All of them were taken using full auto settings. All the results were very pleasing to me, the only shots that were bad were MY fault, not the camera's. I found that if I manually focused the camera for infinity when shooting the high-speed passes, I was able to bang out shot sequences as fast as it would write them to the memory. That 12X zoom, 420mm stabilized Leica lens is fantastic! Crisp, clear, frame-filling shots of planes doing aerobatic routines that would have been only dots in the sky with a 3X zoom. Terrific!

I'm also getting excellent results with indoor shots, as long as I work within reasonable parameters. No digital camera can work miracles, or make light where there isn't any.

Whether you're a point 'n shoot user who will never use anything but the automatic settings, or a serious photographer who wants full manual controls, I think this one deserves special consideration.

I researched cameras online until my eyes about fell out. I went back and forth on several cameras, inlcluding the Nikon 5700, Canon Dig Rebel and others but kept coming back to the FZ10s image stabilization and 12X opt zoom. I was also attracted the shutter and processor speed.

Then I began searching for camera stores. I was referred to Vanns and never regretted it. They were friendly, personal, helpful and when I ordered it was on time and shipping tracked. I've referred many people to them.

Our online user group has grown to 200 members in a very short few months and we all love our FZ10s and share ideas and results. Most shortcomings in the camera are just misunderstandings of the operation of the camera.

The previous camera I owned was a Olympus 10x optical. Which I was very happy with. But it was only a 2.2 mxp. I do a lot of projects on my computer and blow up pictures. I am now in heaven. The Panasonic is sooo easy to use and has so many features. I am not a novice but no where near a pro.,this camera makes me feel like a pro. The hood that comes with the camera is fantastic for taking pictures of my son's football games which are held mid-day. No glare on the pictures. The only thing I don't like, is the zoom button is too flush to the camera. It should extend out just a little more.

I feel the best features of the FZ10 are the Leica lens system that is a 12X zoom and the MEGA optical image stabilizer. I use the FZ10 for wildlife and outdoor photos. The 12X zoom and the image stabilization is a definate aid. I don't always get to set up using a tripod.

I have been very pleased with the 3X digital zoom also. I read other reviews before purchasing this camera, where others were not so pleased with the results. I found the 4.0MP provide great rendering even at the 3X digital zoom level.

This is my first digital camera. After using 35mm SLR's for years, I found this camera easy to use. Menues can be navigated easily.

I feel this camera is a great buy for the price.I think anyone with some photographic experience would really enjoy the FZ10.

The Panasonec Lumix DMC-FZ10 is an excellent camera and surpassed my expectaions. While I read many reveiws before making my choice, you never know what it will be like until you try it for yourself. The size was big enough to feel like my 35mm SLR and yet light enough that it can be carried aroung my neck with ease.

The 12x optical zoom provided excellent quality pictures as reflected in my first picture of a flock of 11 wild turkey in my back yard. The image stabilizer feature allows for pictures to be taken without a tripod even at long range.

The camera is as easy to use as a point and shoot camera with many more features that an experienced photographer would expect. The software was simple to load and it was a breeze to download pictures from the camera to the computer. While the instructions at first can be intimidating once you use the camera they become easy to understand and apply. Overall I feel like I made an excellent choice.

I ordered the Panasonic DMC-FZ10S just a couple days before Christmas as a gift for my wife and opted for the free shipping. The Salesman indicated it would be delivered in 7-10 days. It was actually delivered on Christmas Eve. Perfect! The buying process was excellent. Courteous and efficient. No pressure for any accessories, etc.

We love the camera. It has met our expectations in every respect. Easy to use. It delivers sharp, high quality photos under varying conditions. It provides excellent quality at 12X zoom, hand held. We have noticed that the supplied lithium ion battery discharge rate is noticibly higher in cold weather mid 20's. If you are going to take a large number of photos in excess of 100 in these conditions, have an extra battery handy.

I jumped from a Kodak DC4800 to the FZ10 and am thrilled. My old SLRs are dying and this is a close replacement to them! I've shot indoors and out, sun and rain. Animals, flowers, trees, moving and otherwise. I've used a tripod and hand held the 12x. Within a week I was comfortable with it.

However, I find that I cannot rely on total programming. Though the AF works pretty well, I tend to use ASM or at least the Program shift with total P. I've sat in a chair and zoomed up to 4x from 4' away on still objects and gotten fantastic quality. I shoot my dogs playing with flash or outdoors, using higher speeds andor burst mode.

I cannot seem to get enough of this camera!
