i purchased this system after a long time spent shopping both locally and on line. i replaced an older system that i should have given to a museum. i decided a one box system would suit my personal needs better than a multi-componentmulti-brand homegrown system would offer-not to mention easier. not only is this system everything i hoped it would be, it is far more than i expected and it was the cheapest or the other brands i looked at. i almost didnt buy it for that reason. i read several reviews myself and will address some of those issues.the pluses are this sound is wonderfu, clear balanced i did not have to calibrate the speakers as my space is symetric and small and certainly powerful enough for my room. the rear speaker wires are to short as stated in many reviews i read myself but adding a wire is very easy since all wires are color coded. set up was so easy i was scared to turn it on as i figured i was forgeting something. the only thing that didnt work was the fm radio, the antenae is cheap. i simply jumped it to my old tv antenae and everything worked fine. i am still playing with all the features and settings but have not been disapointed with any aspect of this unit. i admittedly am not an audiophile and there my be many systems that are better but i dont see how if you look at the price and ease of setup. the only system that i looked at in person that i could accually state that was better was a BOSE system cost over a thousand dollars more. i think i made a wise choise and antisipate enjoying this for a long time. one small issue that seems to me to be an oversight- i have an LG tv as well and both remotes are very similiar but not enough, same functions on the remotes are in deferent places making it easy to push the wrong button if you arent paying attention.

only complaints i have are
the blue volume knob is too bright and becomes distracting.
could use a better webuser interface keyboard and mouse?.
input source selection is a bit time consuming. may be improved with buttons on the remote that take you directly to desired input.
otherwise i love it. streaming netflix is great. pandora is awesome.
the sound is loud and clean.
outstanding unit.

I ordered the LG Home Theater System LHB953 through Vanns.com and received it on the day promised with no problems or hassles something thats becoming rarer and rarer these days!. The unit itself is pretty awesome. I didnt have any trouble setting it up, despite not yet having an HDTV to hook it up to soon, though!. The only trouble I had was in properly setting up the surround sound speakers, but that had more to do with my living room than anything particular to the system. It would be nice, however, if at least the rear speakers were wireless...having wires running all over the place is unsightly. That said, the sound is great for an all-in-one system, and I LOVE the iPod dock. So convenient! Streaming from Netflix was a major feature I wanted, but was concerned that it would not work as well as promised. However, I have to say its pretty awesome. Now we can download movies from our Instant Queue withouth having to crowd around a small computer screen.
All in all, Im very pleased with this purchase. This system has proven extremely difficult to find, and has been out of stock nearly everywhere, except Vanns. Given that its clearly in demand, I was pleasantly surprised that Vanns also managed to have the best price Ive seen anywhere. Its amazing to me that another store could have it priced almost $100 more, yet not have it in stock or be able to say when it will come in!

I initially looked at the next system up with the tower speakers, but this system fit my enteretainment center better. Set up was a breeze, and operation is great. I love the vibrant sound. Ive been watching movies that Ive had for years, and am amazed at the things Ive missed over the years. I havent hooked up the Pandora yet, but Im really looking forward to this next step. The ipod docking is clean and easy to operate. Had this for one week and so far am very pleased. Good value, good use, great sounds.

When I bought my first LCD television I wasnt ready to buy a blu ray so I purchased the LG up convert dvd player which I was simply thrilled with. When recently looking at a larger TV I was ready to buy that Bluray player. After some research I settled on the LG LHB953 Home Theatre System.
The features that attracted me to this model were the up convert capability, since I still own many standard dvds, the iPod Dock, the AMFM Tuner and the USB Memory Stick capability.
When I first received the System I had yet to get a TV so I opened the box to check the tuner, CD and iPod capability. This system blew me away. The sound was crisp, clear and needless to say loud! I was anxious to get it hooked up to a TV and check its BluRay quality. When I got it hooked up to the LCD and got my first viewing of a BluRay disc I was completely mesmerized by the quality and the picture of this player. I am no tech guy but I can truly say that the picture and sound are more than I ever imagined. The picture is so clear and crisp that at times I feel as if I am looking out a window and not at a LCD screen. The sound makes you feel like you are in the movie. I would definitely receommend this product to anyone looking for a system like this.
I am looking forward to getting this connected to a internet line and testing the other functions like YouTube, NetFlix and Pandora Radio.
Two Thumbs up, 5 Stars, etc.

We bought this LG home theater to go with our LG flatpanel -- while we thought it would work flawlessly, the set up was difficult because of our DVR cable box ATT UVerse. Great sound, though!

I was suprised at the great sound and ability of this unit to fill my room with rich and full sound. I had to get rid of a rather large home system to please my wife, and was not looking forward to owning a htb. After setting this item up i have no complaints. The built in I-Pod dock is awesome, and the ethernet port allows us to download movies from netflix instantly. Great product for a great price.
