| I am far from an audiophile, but I do know the difference when it comes to price v. performance. I was in Best Buy being treated to a variey of auditory delights from Bose, Panasonic, Sony, Pioneer, Samsung and Onkyo. I was pleased with them all, but I wanted a really unique system that was somewhat space saving and nice to look at. When I told my salesman that I was impressed with the Bose 3-2-1-GS for its size and two-speaker simplicity, he decided to show me the KEF KIT100 and cranked up the volume. I was literally blown away! Since there was a $500 price reduction, from $1499 to $999, and the Bose was $1,275 and was not as full-sounding as the KEF, the decision was a 'no brainer'. I bought the KEF KIT100 and set it up in about 20 minutes, almost as advertised, and matted it to my new Panasonic TH-50PX50U in a room 26x22. Wow! Although the KEF's unique dual-speaker surround sound is rich and full, especially with DVDs'and 5.1 HD broadcasts, you really have to SEE how good DVDs'look on this system. The controller has a built-in Progressive Scan that upcoverts DVDs' to very near HD quality...and voices and background sounds are crystal clear and easily distinguisable i.e. footsteps, doors or metal banging, and a host of other subtle movie sounds for a well-designed, two-speaker system. Yes, the KEF is that good, about 80 of the overall quality of a 5-speaker sytem! If you have the bucks and want simplicity, good looks, awsome sound and picture quality at a very fair price, ....! This is one system that won't disappoint. |

I have to agree with the previous reviewer on hisher opinion about the system. I was 90% sure to get Bose 3-2-1 system at Best Buy when I came across this KEF system. There is no comparison in terms of sound and build quality.
Coming from a FULL size home theater system if you have the room to run all 5 speakers and a large sub, and those annoying rear speaker with cables, this little 2 speaker unit is a very good compromise for my smaller new space. I have been raving about it and showing it off to all my buddies. It is also good for most music taste, especially something that require a good amount of bass. The front sound image is Better than you can get from any speaker at this size.
Just for reference, I have my Martin Logans converted back to a 2-channel music only for the jazz, strings, piano and vocal stuff. haha!
I am 100% satisfied with this awesome KEF unit. In addition, I didnt have to convert myself to the dark side Bose.
Note all the default setup pages are set to S-Video output. So, you need to have that cable before going out to buy the component video cable. |
