Pros Great reciever, great 1080p thruput, good power strong sub-w
Cons HDMI 1080p thruput only, sub par speakers
HTIB have come along way, usally i would turn my nose to these systems but after looking at the specs and the past performance of ONKYO i felt it wouldnt hurt to try. Easy setup. easy speaker calibration. The speakers on this system does not do this receiver justice. I recommend replacing the cheap speaker wire ASAP to push the sound alot better. The receiver has alot of features and alot of custom sound settings not found in other HTIB what blows me away is that this system is at a resonable price. The HDMI switch in this receiver works seemlessly. Best 1080p passthru I have seen for the price. This system is a diamond in the rough and should demand some attention. After spending some time with the remote its a breeze. Really am impressed with what onkyo is doing as a company.

I was totally satisfied with this purchase. I bought it primarily for Music and it sounds great. For a first timer, its definitely worth the price and is easy to set up. Plus I got it cheap at Vanns compared to B&M stores. No shippingtax. It has a wide array of inputsoutputs that I wanted. I dont have a HDTV so HDMI was not on my list. I like the speaker B settings. The listening modes are great especially the surround ones. The audyssey set is simple and is no brainer and you can always tweak it to suit your ears too.
Cons The speakers are kind of big so if you have the $$ you may want to consider 908 or 750 systems which have bit light weight speakers. I used 16 gauge speaker wires as the ones that came are very thin more resistance plus I wanted uniform color. No worries anyway.
