Rediscover high fidelity
As soon as someone starts talking about "hi-fi", chances are words like "long play", "turntable", and "vinyl" start popping into mind. Hi-fi, or high-fidelity, however, applies to all audio, not just that coming from your record player. Just as the name implies, high-fidelity audio is audio that's characterized by a high degree of acoustical accuracy and low noise or distortion. In other words, it's audio reproduced as true to the original as possible. And it's precisely with high fidelity in mind that Denon has crafted the D-M37 CD stereo system. A quick peek at the CD/receiver's design is enough to make the case. First, a Simple & Straight circuit design uses short signal paths and simplified circuitry to minimize common adverse influences on sound quality. Second, a triadic noise reduction concept was followed to reduce noise resulting from circuit, board, and wire layout proximity. Finally, the signal-to-noise ratio has been improved by suppressing distortion from the input selector, electronic volume, and power amp. Combining playback support for CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3, and WMA audio with its high-fidelity construction, the Denon D-M37 delivers clear, detailed audio from a variety of sources.
Coming to you in stereo
Whether in the home office, the kitchen, or the garage, you're looking for more of an audio experience than that offered by a simple boombox stereo. Thanks to its compact design and high-performance components, the Denon D-M37's speakers serve up a satisfying stereo audio experience. Each speaker combines a 1" soft-dome tweeter with a 4.5" woofer to reproduce full high-frequency and midrange audio. The use of voice-coil ventilation for all the drivers allows for improved performance and efficiency by preventing overheating of the cone and maintaining uniform centering of the diaphragm. Further, a newly developed crossover network facilitates the reproduction of the smoothness of natural sound. And if you're looking to add low-frequency bass audio to the mix, the D-M37's mono output is ideal for connecting a separate powered subwoofer.
Beyond CD audio
These days, CD's aren't your only source of audio. First off, you still turn on the radio for news or music from time to time. Further, you have a wealth of digital audio stored on your computer and portable audio player. Keeping you connected to all your tunes, no matter where you get them, the Denon D-M37 features a variety of connectivity options. First, and AM/FM radio tuner accepts up to 40 presets, making it easy to dial your favorite stations. Next, a front USB port allows easy connection to MP3 players. Finally, a rear control dock input allows you to connect a Denon ASD-11R iPod dock for listening to your Apple iPod while it charges. (ASD-11R sold separately.)

I spent several months researching the perfect shelf stereo system. This was a taxing and confusing process, as each time I was convinced I found the right one I would uncover an abundance of negative reviews somewhere. What I felt was the one for a week would become a loser the following.
This Denon system, however, really made my ears prick up. I had difficulty locating even one negative review, and those that leaned toward the less than satisfied end of the spectrum seemed to be nitpicking.
So I bit the bullet and ordered.
Email notifications were timely and informative, and the product arrived a day earlier than scheduled already a plus. Packaging was very secure and considerate of electronics, and assembly of the stereo took a very short amount of time less than an hour.
To test the system upon completion, I chose a favorite album of mine that is also sonically remarkable Super Furry Animals Rings Around the World. Two minutes in and I was already hearing elements that I have never caught and Ive been listening to this for almost a decade. The bass was booming and complex but not overpowering, high end was exactly as I like it, and mid-range had the perfect amount of presence.
I have played MP3 discs and attached a turntable to the stereo, and both sound terrific. I have yet to try the USB drive, but thats forthcoming.
The unit is streamlined and classy, and the speakers have a wonderful heft to them.
All in all this is a seriously solid system that sounds just as terrific as many high end stereos that I have heard.
Without a doubt I highly recommend it!

Absolutely beautiful sound quality!!
As I listen to Jazz primarily with a dash of Blues and Opera, the deep tones and depth of the music is a necessity.
I had been researching shelf systems and was going to purchase a much pricier model Cambridge when a close friend who works in music production suggested a Denon. I had not heard of this brand, but trust my friend he has worked for Prince.
And - I had just received my recent issue of Consumer Reports where I read that Vanns was tops in the on-line retailer category.
So I jumped and ordered this. I am so happy!! This system has totally delivered and the Vanns customer support was friendly and knowledgeable.
THANKS!!

EXCELLENT product and performance! Well made. I had forgotten what REAL stereo is like Mangione and Shearing sound like you are there. The native bass with Denon options is very good added a Yamaha YST-FSW050 subwoofer and it matches very well. You DO get what you pay for this is the BEST!
Vanns, as usual, delivered a great product and matching price. SERVICE is always Excellent!

I am really satisfied with such a big sound coming from such small speakers. I like the clarity of the separation of instruments and the design reminds me, in a positive way, of an old fashioned amplifier cover. However, the system is hard to use the settings and controls.
I also like the clarity of the system. When I plug my Carvin headphones into it, I can hear the notes clearly, enabling me to practice my guitar.
The CD player is so good you can hear defects and dropouts in the CD recordings.
