Superb Sounding
Where performance and simplicity are paramount but space is sparse, the Model One Table Radio from Tivoli Audio is a perfect fit. With just three knobs, it's the antithesis of today's increasingly complex electronic products. But, behind the simple appearance of the Model One, encased within the elegant enclosure is a storehouse of advanced technology that enables higher fidelity sound reproduction and better radio reception than anything else anywhere near the size and cost of the Model One. The furniture-grade, handmade wood cabinet is not just for appearance sake (although it does make an impressive visual statement). The audio benefit of the classy enclosure is that it provides an acoustically inert environment that contributes greatly to the superior sound reproduction. A heavy-magnet, long-throw 3" driver is allied to a multi-stage frequency contouring circuit that adjusts the speaker's output over half-octave increments. The result is musically accurate tonal balance and bass response. It's easy to see and hear why Henry Kloss himself called his Model One Radio "the culmination of more than forty years of bringing music into people's homes via products they tend to keep and enjoy." You'll certainly want to keep and enjoy your Tivoli Model One Radio for many years to come.
Remarkable Reception
Instead of a standard, off the shelf integrated circuit, the Model One uses a state of the art, discrete-component FM tuner featuring GaAs MES-FET mixers. This technology was originally developed for cellular phones but Henry Kloss realized the benefits it held for FM radio reception and made the Model One the first radio to adopt this technology. The result is vastly improved reception and increased clarity on closely spaced stations. You enjoy stronger and much clearer reception from your favorite stations and with the superior tuner, you may find stations you never knew were there. Tuning in your favorites, both old and new, is a pleasure using the large analog tuning knob with its geared down 5:1 tuning ratio that provides easy and accurate tuning while the amber tuning indicator lets you know when you've achieved proper tuning. Built-in AM and FM antennas provide satisfying reception, while a rear 75 ohm jack allows connection of an external FM antenna for difficult reception areas. Tivoli's Model One Radio sounds and looks great in offices, dens, bedrooms, kitchens, RVs, boats, anywhere you want to really enjoy radio.
Ingeniously Simple
Sometimes you just want something nice to listen to and don't want to have to perform complex calculations and contortions just to turn on the radio. The simplicity of the Model One radio is simply elegant. Large, easy to read dial and large, easy to grip knobs make tuning and adjusting your radio simple and precise at the same time. An auxiliary input is provided to connect a CD player or other sound source and a record output that enables you to connect a recording device like a CD recorder or tape deck, or use your Model One radio as a high quality outboard tuner. A built-in headphone jack enables you to enjoy private listening when you want. The quality, performance and elegant simplicity of the Model One are reminiscent of a time when radio was the centerpiece of home entertainment and radios were built as fine furniture rather than just boxes that produce noise. Tivoli's Model One is more than a high performance radio. It's a work of art destined to become an heirloom.

I am not an audiophile, was just looking for a good AMFM radio with a sensitive tuner and nice sound. I also like quality stuff, which is why I went to the internet to search for a radio after shopping several stores and finding cheap plastic junk. I bought this sight unseen and was a little nervous when it arrived. Immediately, however, I discovered it to be exactly what I had hoped for. It is easy to use, well constructed, the tuner is sensitive and precise, and the sound is awsome. I play classical music on it almost every day and the sound that fills my home is crisp, clear, and beautiful. Couldnt be happier.

This is a radio that looks as good as it sounds. It's surprising at the quality of music for the price. My only wish might be for a tone control, but that's trivial.

This is a great small radio with excellent sound and simple controls. I really appreciate the simplicity of the design and the straight-forward controls. I am using the Model One Table Radio in my kitchen and I listen to it most of the time that I am home.
I compared this radio against many others before purchasing it. What I wanted was a basic radio that had a good sound, simple controls, good reception, and a quality tuner that would prevent drift and interference. I wasn't too concerned about special controls for bass and treble. Since I was planning to use it in a small space and mainly for news and talk radio, stereo sound was not too important to me either.
The Model One was really what I was looking for. It has very good sound for both music, talk, and news radio--A very nice bass and clear sound. The controls are very basic AM-FM Band selection, volume, and tuner. There is also an LED light for power, and a variably-bright light to indicate the strength of the station, which is a very nice feature that helps tune the station perfectly.
Aesthetically, the design is simple and minimal. The cabinet is made of solid wood, which is a nice feature. The knobs are plastic, but they have a very solid feel to them, so I don't consider this to be a negative at all. The tuner knob is larger than the others, and has a nice turning ratio. When you turn it, the station selection turns slowly, which makes it easier to refine the tuning. I really like this aspect of the tuner.
On the back there is a connection for an external antenna, which I haven't used, and an auxiliary jack for other input, which I also don't use.
I think this is a great radio if you want something simple and basic, with great sound, a good tuner, and good reception. The aesthetic features are nice, too.
I bought this from Vanns.com, and this was my first purchase from them. I was happy with the service. The emails were friendly, there was no shipping charge, and delivery was quick. When I received the radio, I was pleased with the packing. I would purchase from them again.
