I needed to replace an unreliable clock radio and this Sony model had all the features I needed. We do not have very many radio stations of worth where I live so I did not expect much in the way of performance from the radio section. This radio does no better than my old one in terms of picking up stations. The difference with this one is that when the set time arrives it actually does tune in the station I set. The wake to CD feature is what I wanted and it works flawlessly. If you specify the CD tracks you want, the A and B alarms even wake you to different tracks. Only thing I would change is to add a headphone feature, but that has been mentioned in other reviews. As with many Sony products, the unit is a bit more expensive than I think it needs to be. I am still exploring the features of the ICF-CD7000. So far I think its great!

We bought the Sony after an exhaustive search of CD clock radios. Theyre becoming difficult to find. Since we were replacing a 10 year old Sony Dream Machine that has poor radio reception, we were hesitant about another Sony. This one however, looked very impressive. When it arrived, we were amazed at the extensive array of features, including radio presets, digital tuning, line-in, etc., etc. Plus the styling made it very cool looking. We were impressed - until we turned it on. The radio reception was even worse than our old one. Terrible, in fact. We live near a major metro area, not in the sticks. Reception should have been much better. We tried hard to make it work because we really liked this unit, but we finally gave up and returned it. We decided to stick with the old one for now - it sounds better. Too bad.
If youre in an area where the reception is better, or if the radio itself is not as important to you as the other features, this is a very nice unit.

This is not only a CD Player but also a great mp3 player and radio. It looks great and is very easy to use. The sound quality is exceptional. I use it at my desk at work. I can adjust the sound as low or as high as I want. The radio also works great. I heard rumors that the reception would be bad, but I work in the Sears Tower in Chicago, IL on the 90th floor and the reception is great. I thought I would have a problem plugging in my IPod. This player is so easy to use, I just plug it in, press a button and it begins to play. I am very happy with this purchase. It was not only a great deal on the price but it works well beyond my expectations.

Gift for my twin boys 9th birthday. they think its the Bomb! Im the greatest dad ever they keep saying. My wife says she wants one, now. its cool ambient lighting that can be dimmed or turned off. They love beiing able to plug in their mp3 players, but theres ususally a fight as to whose turn it is life w twins. We figured it was time for them to wake themselves up and the they were excited to set their own alarm and get up with music from the CD player. The sound seems adequate for the device and the audience. The slanting CD player can be a nusisance, but just have to be careful loading the cd in. the Nap timer feature is sweet. they tested that out last weekend. made them have a 15-min quite time. Its only been in use for a week, however. No manual came with it, but most operations are common sense. Cant figure out how to set a particular track for music alarm, nor how to set a radio station preference for alarm. but havent spent a lot of time with it either.
I give it a 8 out of 10. its hard to get perfect out of me. my sister and I both had Sony Dream Machines as teens, and always seemed top notch, and this one doesnt disappoint either.

There is also a buzzer if you want it.
IT seems to have fairly good FM reception, and separates stations pretty well. --A lot better than another Sony clock radio that I tried before.
The sound is barely adequate for music, but O.K. for voice news

My wife was looking for a Clock Radio with a CD player so she could listen to relaxing music before bed time and awaken in the morning to the same.
We found the Sony online and read many positive reviews about it.
We have had it for several weeks and are very pleased with its performance. It has all the features we were looking for and more.
Sony was the only one to offer such a clock radio and were sorry to hear that they are no longer going to make this model. I would hope they come out with a new one with all the features this one has.
This was our first time ordering from Vanns and were pleased with our experience. In the future, if we need something , we will consider Vanns again.

I bought this unit to replace an earlier Dream Machine that had a cd motor failure. Because I have had such good luck with Sony products, with that one exception, I decided to try this newer model. There are some noticeable improvements. The most helpful one being the battery back up. Also, the overall design is more user friendly. It is very easy to set up with just a quick overview of the manual. The old saying, when all else fails read the directions definitely applies here. This is a very nice looking, well designed unit with lots of features that will serve you for years as long as the cd motor doesnt fail. Im glad I bought it. Its perfect for bedtime. Put on a nice cd and ease off into a very restful sleep. Afterall, it is called a dream machine.

I have just returned this model for a refund. While it is cool looking during the day, at night the annoying blue neon type lights flare around, and brighten up a large area. The glow of the bright blue lights make it impossible to read the time display which is not as bright as the lights.
In addition, it isnt able to pick up the station I have always listened to at night.
I have bought a much simpler Sony CR which works perfectly with a large time display to read day and night and I can access my station with it.

This is a great Clock Radio CD Player. I was looking for something with a small foot print, reasonable price, specific functionality and reputable quality. The Sony fit the bill to a T. My previous alarm clock radio was adequate with dual time and battery backup but the radio reception was limited and I would usually wake up to static. It was also hard programmed to the original Daylight Savings change dates which caused it not to roll the time on the more recently revised change dates. I decided the solution to both issues was a new unit with a CD playing option. The Sony has good sound quality and as it turns out much better FM radio reception. The battery backup and auto time change insures that I always awake on time. It is a sleek looking unit that doesnt clash with our traditional bedroom decor. It is fairly easy to use, the instructions required that you pay attention but were not complicated. I have one issue with alarm clock function. To shut off the alarm, there is one small button located on the front in the upper right area of the unit. It can be a little difficult to locate in a dark room when you 1st wake from a deep sleep and dont have your glasses on. In time Im sure finding it will be more automatic and a fairly insignificant issue. One other minor annoyance is that I bought two units, and the case on one seems to be slightly warped, causing it to rock when pushing buttons. So far the only fix seems to be to put something under one of its four feet.

Ive always held Sony in high regard but this radiocd player was disappointing. Bought as a desk radio for my wife as a Christmas present, I tried it out before I wrapped it for her. Glad I did. I realize this is not audiophile equipment but the sound quality will only please talk radio listeners. I quickly purchased a single speaker Timex radio that sounds MUCH better and wrapped that instead. The Sony sits on my desk now and was also used during Christmas in the office break room to play Christmas CDs where it revealed another of its faults. Personal compilations played as well as factory made but about 1 in 5 CDs would not play correctly or not play at all. I cant comment on the radio reception as I use it inside a metal building. One station comes in very clear, some come in and out, and others that should play dont come in at all. Again, that may say more about the location than the receiver. Finally, if youve ever seen a silver car thats been polished by someone that didnt know how to use a buffer you have a good idea what the lid for the CD player looks like. It was Christmas time and I had a lot of other things going on, otherwise I would probably have returned this.

I love that it has a back-up lithium battery, so I need not worry about missing a plane or being late for work if there is a power interruption. The sound quality is very good for such a small item, and it is so nice to wake up to a specific track on a CD that I like. It has 3 settings for the brightness of the backlight. I keep it on the lowest setting at night, and If I wake and want a little lighting to get around without waking my spouse, then I can press the button and get what is like a little nightlight. It is true that some of the buttons are small and a little hard to find, but I find it easy enough to cope with this. I would definitely recommend this product.

Very easy to program. With a great, easy to understand owners manual. You can awake to a CD program your favorite track and volume or your favorite radio station again, program the volume you desire or the buzzer alarm that starts out soft and subtle and gradually gets louder and faster!
