It's a radio . . .
Now you can have Boston Acoustics audio and all your favorite radio programming at the office, in the kitchen, or next to the bed with the Horizon Solo alarm-clock radio. First, let's meet the radio: While a precision digital radio tuner locks into your favorite AM or FM station, a 3.5" full-range speaker driver serves up all the tunes with full, dynamic sound. Further, Boston Acoustics' patented BassTrac audio processing delivers rich, clear bass at any listening level. As a radio, the Horizon Solo brings you impressive, noise-free listening whether at home or at work.
. . . and it's an alarm clock . . .
Remember now, the Horizon Solo radio has an alter ego: the alarm clock. Hmm, an alarm clock, huh? Boy, that's a pretty exciting alter ego. It's true, most alarm clocks are, well, uninteresting at best. Actually, seeing as how they're the ones responsible for your having to get up every morning, they're the object of no little animosity. And yet, somehow the folks at Boston Acoustics manage to make an alarm clock that's . . . cool. Sure, the Horizon Solo's dual, independent alarms let you set two alarm times, but the real show-stopper here is the 360° snooze button. The entire outer trim of the Solo's face is a touch-sensitive snooze button. So, the next time you to go hit the snooze for another ten minutes of beauty sleep, you don't even have to bother to aim for a button — just tap the silver trim, and you're good to go. In fact, it's so simple, you can probably do it in your sleep.
. . . i.e. it's versatile.
While the Horizon Solo's two-in-one radio/alarm clock design is versatile, there are a few more bells and whistles to this gizmo. First, a rotating control panel allows you to position the Solo either vertically or horizontally, depending on where you're placing it. Second, a high-contrast LCD display gives you a clear read-out of radio stations, station presets, alarm statuses, and the time. The LCD even adjusts its brightness in response to ambient light levels, automatically. Third, a stereo headphone jack lets you listen without disturbing others, and an auxiliary input lets you connect to your portable audio player. Finally, a variety of interchangeable, colored metal grilles are available to help match the Horizon Solo to your room's décor. (Note, interchangeable grilles are sold separately. Black onyx grille is included with the purchase of the Midnight model.)

I basically wanted to add another 5-star review, I am just so happy with this radio.
My main response is that this is a class-act product made by a good company. I needed to replace by old beloved Proton radio and get the same sound quality without the problems of weakish station tuning, scratchy volume control, failing alarm system, poorly functioning battery backup system. This radio is a lot better than the Proton was in every way and I am glad I found it.

The Boston Acoustics radio immediately looks well made and solid. It is easy to get running right from the box. Its radio is more sensitive in my fringe FM location and allows good reception of a PBS station that is noisy on my other radios. With an external FM antenna it is as sensitive as any component tuner. The audio is quite presentable for a modest sized enclosure. It is a fine machine and exudes good engineering design.

The radio was easy to program and it had a headphone port so I would listen to the radio while my wife could watch TV.
I would highly recommend it.

I wanted a radio with dual alarms and after looking at Bose - I was replacing a wave -, Cambridge Soundworks, the BA Horizon Duo and a few other models I settled on the Solo. Main reason for this is the vertical orientation that raises the clock up and allows it to be seen by my fiancee on the other side of the bed. Unit feels nice and solid, good texture to the materials and the 360 degree snooze ring is handy - although its very sensitive and each subsequent tap will increase the snooze time so you must be careful when you reach over in a groggy haze @ 6AM. Sound quality is respectable but not audiophile worthy and it does come with bass & treble adjustment for slight customization. Alarms are easy to set and you can wake to buzzer, music or both.
Overall Im very satisfied and its a great value when compared to some of the overpriced options out there.
