My audio system is a Mac to a Home Headroom with several headphones for different purposes. The iMac is not a great pre-amp.
While upgrading for 96-24 audio I researched and settled on the d2 for several reasons - above average 96-24 DAC on the receiving end, wireless connectivity to several DACs by the transmitter, reliability of transmission, isolation of mains hum via interconnects, good warrantee and USB connection.
Via the USB, my iMac now sends digital bit perfect 96-24 to the transmitter. There is a wireless connection that does not create to my loss ears and can transmit farther than my wallet can afford to spend for good interconnects. The receiver DAC does a wonderful job for the money - remember - this is interconnects, transmitter, receiver and DAC for $599. At that price one would be happy just to find a DAC alone with this quality.
The only problem not solved is my ground loop induced mains hum. I will address that with other measures.
