Always like Pioneer products. In head-fi.com this amp was mentioned more than once as having a good headphone sound. I needed a good headphone and a good integrated amp for my speakers. This works very well for what I needed. This amp is a little bigger than I thought it would be. Thats my problem not the amps. Sound is very good and clarity is to me very good. Ease of use, very simple for anyone. My headphones are generally run by dedicated tube amps as I usually do not like SS amps. But this amp is a keeper.

Pros This Pioneer amplifier is in a slim form factor, features good layout of the controls and all the connections on the back. Front face and controls are plastic but overall feel fit and finish of the unit is very good. Sound quality is superb both using headphones, or speakers, with or without use of the tone controls. I am using it as both a speaker switch and second amplifier for driving speakers in two other rooms in the house. It will play both A & B speakers simultaneously. Power out is 40W conservatively rated but very clear and no distortion. Case temp after driving the speakers for a while was warm but not too hot, recommend setting the A-35R in a vented cabinet. The A-35R is also used for playing phonograph records as my new main AV Receiver does not have phonograph input.
Cons Does not accept digital input - no optical inputs or coax inputs, but as a second amp, that is not necessary. Also, power button is manual so remote control only works after manually pressing the power switch. Another minor drawback is that the speaker terminals will not accept banana plugs.
In summary as a second integrated amp to switch and drive two additional sets of speakers, feature phono input and 5 other available inputs, the quality and price, this was a great solution for this need. What the A-35R does, it does very well.

This amp is perfect for a small 2-channel system on a budget. Power to drive 4 ohm loads, and the accuracy to bring out the true color in your speakers. Elite quality at a small price. One of the best Bang for Buck components of all time.
