I received the Pioneer cassette deck in just a few days. Unwrapped it, plugged it in and rocking in no time. I am very happy with the unit, it is easy to operate and the sound is very clear. I would definitely recommend the Pioneer deck and doing business with Vanns was a breeze.

I am using my Pioneer tape deck to transfer my cassettes to digital media, and this provides a sturdy so far! and reliable means of doing so and getting good quality results. This is a fine machine for the price. To get any significant improvement in quality and dependability, you would have to spend five to ten times as much, so for most purposes, this is probably a good bet.

What do you like and why?
good name brand. good reviews on the various internet sites. better reviews than alternative brands. dual deck to back up cassettes. can play high bias tapes okay in spite of no explicit setting.
How does this product compare to others like it you have used?
not quite as good as my old cassette decks, but best available replacement nowadays. however it is close enough to my old pro-level cassette machine for what i need to do.
Who would benefit from owning this product?
anyone who still has cassettes will need this.
whether to play, copy, or to move to cdrom.
What are the features of this product that influenced your purchasing decision?
cost and availability, but mostly the good reviews. not much choice these days and most similar devices are pretty much the same.
CT-W208R features dual wells, dual motors, auto-reverse, tape-to-tape dubbing in normal or high speed, and Dolby BC noise reduction for cleaner sound.
Plays various bias tapes well even though does not have explicit setting for high bias.
Has line in to record new tapes, but lacks microphone inputs for live recording.
really would like the mike in a lot more than much of the other stuff that it does do.
has a lot of needless features like my old deck did. I still dont need to automatically search for music or automatically skip blank tape spaces. maybe you do.
autoreverse is okay for listening and can be turned off if you are copying to cdrom. can automatically reverse and then switch to other deck for continuous playback while you swap out the first cassette for constant music with little manual handling.
has tape erase function but better faster easier to use a bulk eraser device if you need to do that.
the manual indicates remote control capability but did not find any parts with mine to do that.
if you need a cassette deck this is the one to get. Vanns was easy to deal with, shipment came promptly, and was well packed. I am fully satisfied with Vanns.

I recently purchased this deck and am very happy with it. The auto reverse is so smooth I dont even notice it so it doesnt distract from the music I am listening to. I am very pleased with the sound quality and look forward to duplicating my older cassette tapes so that I will be able to enjoy them for a long time to come. Thanks to Panasonic for continuing to make a quality dual cassette deck at a reasonable price.

I purchased the CT-W208R primarily to digitize many years of live recordings by various bands I have played with. Since those cassettes date back to the 70s, I wanted as many features as possible in an affordable package - Dolby B & C in particular. The deck worked wonderfully for the grueling task.
The start stop rew and FF mechanism never failed, jammed, or otherwise gave me problems. It did make the typical mechanical noise associated with tape deck drives....something we take for granted in new CD formats.
The heads and sound quality were much better than I expected, even for antique tapes. I would say, for the technology, this is certainly as much, if not more, than I need at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend this deck for general purpose use.
Vanns was not the cheapest, and certainly not the most expensive. But they were very easy to deal with and shipping was lightening fast.

My collection of cassette tapes were beginning to deteriorate so I started copying them to CDs. My two tape players quit during the process and repairs were out of the question due to their age.Prior experience with Pioneer products has been good so when I discovered a tape deck made by that company was available, that was my choice. It has been used approximately 100 hours to date without a problem. Recording hasnt been done as it has been used as a player only. Im sure it will record properly as all Pioneer products Ive had in the past have performed very well.

My nearly 87 year old Aunt Aggie is famous for making her pizzelles. She has the same iron that I purchased. Her cookies are the best and the iron is a great contributer to that success.
Mine worked great first time out and I am anxious to make more for future family gatherings. The size of the cookie is perfect and they come out without any trouble and without the nonstick coating! Aggie inststed on that and shes right. We have other friends with other irons who are not as successful as we are. We are so glad we found you. I am ready now to carry on Aggies legacy and start one in my family.

I bought this Pioneer unit to replace a more expensive Sony of similar description that finally stopped working after twenty plus years of service. This Pioneer is doing everything just as well as the previous Sony. Its easy to use and I have fast-dubbed tapes with no problem. Currently, I am recording streamed sports broadcasts from my computer which is patched into my AMFM receiver. I recommend this unit highly.

Purchased as a holiday gift for a non-techie roommate. Built well with doors that shut securely. The independent motors for the decks allow dubbing copying from one cassette to another with source playing in forward or reverse mode and recording deck can record in either direction independent of source deck. And, of course it can also record from other sources. Optional record mute allows blank space between songs if desired. Very easy to use. One button start or stop of recordingdubbing. With simplicity of use and good features and good instructions, this dual cassette deck should be a 'must have' item for any audiophile. Matches appearance and size of the Pioneer receiver bought at same time.
