My last 5 CD carousel was a pawn Kenwood. And it owed me not a dime I must say...however, the new Onkyo comes with a prejudiced name, too! One of my other components is an Onkyo as well.
My CD player had been playing broken on its last legs for years its like listening to a diamond chip needle hit the floor when dropped on glass! I love it.
It will get a lot of years of use and will inspire me to buy some new CDs, too!
Thank you!
Diane

The audio quality of this player is wonderful and the mechanical operation of the changer is smooth and quiet. The control panels on both the player and the remote are straight forward and easy to use. The disc tray rotates enabling ease of disc placement and removal which is a plus. The lighted tray does help when changing discs in low light and it is dimmable, which is nice.
Thank you Vanns!

I just received the Onkyo DX-C390 6 disc changer. I had to replace the JVC 5 disc player & exchanger I owned for about 17yrs, it finally died. I have used my new Onkyo player everyday since receiving it about 2wks. ago. I can personally say LOVE IT!, I connected it myself to my Onkyo receiver using the RCA plugs included in the purchase, the sound is Great in my opinion. However, I did read a review before I made my purchase on Vann.com. stating he used the digital connection to his receiver and thinks the sound quality is better. I may try that connection later, but for how and my ears the sound is GREAT, I also like the style of the unit, the green light is neat, I also noticed the sound doing the disc exchange is quite. Over-all I am well pleased with my purchase, as well as the service I received from customer service when I placed my order via the telephone, this is only my second purchase from Vanns, and I will not hesitate in making any future purchases, when the time comes.

I bought DX C-390 last Christmas. Even though I read many reviews saying this CD changer was not reliable. I also saw many positive feedback in Vanns.com. Thinking I can beat the odds, I did this purchase. But today I just found it stop working. I called Vanns and they let me contact Onkyo. I could not reach Onkyo by phone but checked the repair service info on Onkyos website. I am surprised that Onkyo does not have any service center in Illinois. The nearest one is in Madison, WI. I will call Onkyo next week to find out the process but I am afraid I will pay for the shipping fee if they let me ship it to their repair center--Thats will be pretty costly.
Lesson learnt Avoid this CD Changer in the first place.

Hopefully, this product will give me just as great service as very similar to my original changer. Sound quality is great.. The only snafu I encountered was syncing my Harmony remote as the infrared timing was same as my Onkyo receiver. Once I figured that out all is well.

This changer is super simple to hook up and use. I have used all types in my time and this fits perfect. Carosel type changers are to me the best due to quiet, quick operations and with the 6 Disk option This one plays for the perfect amount of time. Plus you dont have to do any crazy programing as with those huge changers. This gives all the great sound without all the work. If you like quality, ease of use and long play time this is for you.

I picked the DX-C390 because it looked really cool and I didnt need a huge changer so it fit the bill. The quality is amazing. Bright , clear sound, quiet and precise in operation. The face is really neat looking too with its green light! I am really excited to upgrade to this unit. I recommend this product highly with a 5 rating. VANNS and ONKYO cannot be beat. It is as close to BOSE as you can get for half the price. Onkyo even has an automatic speaker balance gadget to set up your system. No more guessing.
Thanks VANNS. Please keep selling ONKYO!!!!

This player was a snap to install and begin using. The ease of the setup and time it took to figure out the functions and features was a refreshing change from other electronic equipment I have used in the past. My only complaint regarding performance of the player is that it occasionally takes longer than expected to change the CD and begin playing a new one. Loading time needs to be shortened to truly make it superior to other players. A feature that would make it stand out, one I feel is lacking compared to top of the line players, is a display that shows CD and song title. Other than these areas, this is a very functional CD player one that I would recommend to anyone on the market for one.

I read some of the less-than-favorable reviews on Amazon about the item no longer recognizing CDs. So far that hasnt been the case for me.
Wouldve liked a headphone jack directly in the CD player, and it also would be nice if the CDs changed more rapidly. But neither is a big deal nor a deal-breaker. Shipping was quick, item as described.

I bought this recently as a replacement for a Denon DCM370 that I had for ten years. The Denon quit recognizing discs on a reliable basis. The Onkyo sounds every bit as good and has two distinct advantages. First, you can turn the power on and off with the remote control. Second, this player has a carousel that holds six discs instead of five. Hopefully, it will work as long as the Denon. It is a large component, so make sure you have the space for it. The combination of features, sound quality, ease of use, and price make this an excellent buy, provided it remains durable.

I have the basic features on the DX-C390 which is all most listeners will get the most use from. The changer isnt enclosed so I do notice a little noise during disc changes but its quite tolerable. The optical hook-up is simple and provides seamless communication with my receiver. You cant beat the price for the value youll receive from this make of changer. I recommend this unit highly.

This cd changer did not play correctly from the moment it was turned on. I called Vanns and they were unwilling to help out because I opened it and then threw the box away. Without the box there will be no exchange I was told. If I wanted to buy a new one and when it arrived use that box in which to send the unused broken one ..with me paying for all shipping and no guarantee of a refund they would consider an exchage.
I figured I would rather cut my losses and toss it, even thoughtit was only two weeks old. I bought another cd changer, a Sherwood, from another company and it works wonderfully.
I cant recommend Vanns or Onkyo.

My new, 4 day old, Onkyo DX-C390 performs as described. Sound quality top notch for price and equivalent to higher priced Marantz and Yamaha CD players Ive owned in past. I did find that the overall crispness was improved dramatically by running output through through digital output cable as compared to standard RCA analog jacks. There seems to be no digital clipping throughout the audible spectrum - very equivalent to true analog systems without the inherent noise of same.
Highly recommend this unit to all but the most fanatical audiophiles.

I have been very pleased with this product ever since I got it from Vanns until now, when it suddenly malfunctioned in the middle of a Christmas gathering. I had the Onkyo changer only about 2 years and hadnt used it a lot, so this was a great disappointment. I am reluctant to replace it with another Onkyo product, despite the good reputation of the brand.

Nice piece of equipment. It replaces a 17 year old JVC player that finally had its day. Great crist sound through the Wolfsen DAC and this is througn a 30 year old Marrantz receiver. You can play 3-4 CDs and remove them while a 5th CD is playing and add more CDs. Great for a weekend afternoon at home.

Thanks Vanns
I got my onkyo cd player at a great price after about a month of research. It was a snap to set up and it sounds great. I dont under stand all the reviews that said this was clunky and slow! Its great. I got it to replace a very old sony cd player.. I just wish the sony would have quit sooner so I could have been enjoying this great sound sooner. the only problem is.. its about 1000 better than the speakers Im using so now they need up-grading. If you are consindering a cd player at all this is a great sound at a better than great price.

Bought as a replacement for an aging Yamaha high end CD changer that suddenly malfunctioned. After considering several brands and models, decided I didnt want to spend a lot, but did not want to go for the cheapest thing either. For the price this seemed pretty good. Received it yesterday and hooked it up, and I am very satisfied. Mechanically its much quieter than the Yamaha was, the design and features are good. I especially like the tray light. The only thing missing is a headphone jack. The sound is outstanding. I am positive I can hear little nuances and details I did not hear with the Yamaha, or Technics or Sony or other Cd players I have had experience with. Most impressive and important for me is that it doesnt have that digital coldness and harshness. Overall, IMHO this compares favorably to most audiophile gradehigh end CD players Ive heard, and for the price its unbeatable. And Vanns was very good too! Competitive price, order promptly processed and very well packaged.

For its low price this is a nice piece of equipment. It does, however, have its limitations.
Specifically, the dynamic range is compressed and will not reveal deep bass or highest highs. Good
recordings sound -- good -- but not great. This can partially be attributed to the signal to noise ratio. Mechanically, the unit is well engineered and works flawlessly. Its made very well. Nevertheless, good interconnect analog cables are essential to elicit the best possible sound. Accoustic jazz sounds good. More complex
musical passages such as, Big Band, lack clearly defined resolution. The sound is muddy and congested. Overall its a decent piece of equipment at a reasonable price. Dont expect way too much and you wont be disappointed.
Bottom line -- you usually get what you pay for!

WOW! A real 'low carb' way to satisfy your audio palate! The smooth-almost analog-sound from this changer is nothing short of amazing-very warm and clear with no hint of 'brassiness.' If you relish great sounding music of any genre you owe yourself a listen. Your ears, and those of your guests, will savor the delicious sounds. I hear sublteties in my favorite discs I never heard before. Don't let the rather deep ~17' enclosure make you think twice-cut a hole in the back of your entertainment center and do your CD collection some justice! This quality 6 disc changer will serve up the finest audio cuisine with abundance and convenience. Bon Appetite!

This is an easy to set up and use cd changer, but the best part of it is the sound reproduction. Whether played LOUD or soft the sound is great. So sit back, relax and enjoy!

Very high quality unit. Clean sound and the changer mechanism is virtually silent. Controls are easy to use. Best of all this unit can play MP3 CD's. Displays the MP3 name. Unit has analog, optical and coaxial outputs. My only complaint is the changer could be a bit quicker. Still this unit is highly recommended. Sounds are good as the $800 unit I check out. I paid $189.99 at Circuit City.
