| I don't buy houses, cars, TV's, or even consider getting married without a great deal of thought and research. Well, I did my due deligence with my purchase of the Pioneer PDF-1009 CD changer and couldn't be more pleased with my choice of changers as well as Vanns. My last changer bit the dust recently and I knew that a 5-disc changer wasn't going to cut it after acquiring over 200 CD's over the last several years. Cabinet space and lack of organization gave me extra incentive to jump a bit higher and go for the 301 CD Pioneer unit. I've now reclaimed all that cabinet space crowded by the jewel cases in those mini-CD cabinets. I have my entire collection on the Pioneer carousel with finger-tip control for any genre or composer desired. The whole process of purchasing with Vanns was also a treat. The first person to answer the phone was happy to provide answers to my technical questions and did not pass me off to another department or refer me back to the website when I decided to make the purchase. The CD-changer was in stock, my order was processed the same day, and I received the changer within the week with nary a penny extra for shipping, handling, or sales tax. I had a momemtary thought about purchasing at another internet site at a slightly lower price, but I really did not want to purchase from a non-authorized dealer then worry about all the 'what-ifs', the S & H fees, etc. Don't hesitate to check out this Pioneer CD-changer if you have a cluttered audio collection and your sweetie is hinting about getting your life or CD collection more organized. 301 jewel cases can take up an awful lot of space and sliding each CD vertically into the revolving tray is a terrific idea - kudos to Pioneer and to Vanns!!
P.S. My first wife is a winner too!

The system is simple to use, my wife loves the single disc loader and I love the storage capacity. Both of us love the intuitive controls that puts every CD within reach in seconds.
The only drawback to the unit is the time it takes to load it. I highly recommend developing a catalog system spreadsheet or something well in advance, check it twice, and start loading the CDs in some order that you can live with. The time required to move 50 or more disc because you realize you failed to leave enough room for a 2 disc set or a box set containing 4-5 CDs for that matter is consuming.
We have not tried CD-R or CD-RW disc yet so I cant verify whether or not it works as advertised in this arena. Based on my experience so far, I have no reason to doubt it will play these disc admirably.
In a nutshell - excellent unit, high capacity, fast access, and easy to use. Now, if my reciever were only so simple, I would be happy indeed. |
