The DCM390, a 5-disc carousel CD changer equipped with HDCD, MP3 and WMA decoders, lets you not only enjoy regular audio CDs, but also HDCDs and MP3/WMA encoded CD-R/RW discs. The DCM390 features Denon's 5-disc changer mechanism for smooth, quiet operation.

Play Multiple Formats

The DCM390 is here to do more than play your regular store-bought CDs. HDCD represents encoding/decoding technology that drastically reduces digital recording distortion while retaining compatibility with the existing CD format. The DCM390 also plays finalized CD-R/RW discs, including those containing MP3 or WMA audio files. When they are in MP3 or WMA format, a single CD-R/RW disc can contain up to 10 times more tracks than an ordinary audio CD. CD-R/RW discs containing a large number of MP3/WMA files are ideal for use in long-play applications such as background music.

The Best Sound Around

The DCM390 features a Multi-Level Noise Shaping DAC. This multi-level modulation powerfully removes the adverse effects of jitter, and because it is built into the output amp, a clean analog output with suppressed high-frequency interference can be directly obtained. The sound delivered from the DCM390 also benefits from its 8-times oversampling digital filter. Increasing the oversampling frequency by a factor of eight makes possible an extraordinary degree of attenuation and reduces frequency irregularities in the audio range to an absolute minimum.

More Ways to Play

The DCM390 lets you program up to 32 tracks from the five or fewer CDs you have loaded in the player. Full random, program random, and disc sequential random modes give you a variety of ways to listen to your favorite music. The Disc Skip button can rotate the carousel tray clockwise or counter-clockwise when searching for a disc (counter-clockwise rotation is operable only by remote controller). When the DCM390 is cable-connected to an amplifier or receiver that supports the Remote Control In/Out feature, you can operate the DCM390 via the remote sensor on the amplifier or receiver. This feature is very handy when the DCM390 is placed in another room.

The Denon DCM-390 5 CD changer sounds great and is easy to hook up and use. The remote is user friendly too. I would rate it with any of the best CD players around. I miss one of the functions of my old Technics CD changer though, which none of the newer models of any brand seem to have--a spiral playback function. The player would play track 1 of all 5 CDs, then move to track 2 of all 5 CDs, etc., great for a neurotic listener! This Denon 390 has all the standard playback functions though, and seems to work beautifully.
The only negative comment I have is that the platter is noisier when changing CDs than my old player.
