Whoa! Hey, now, don't look so glum . . . the purchase of your new 7.1-channel hi def receiver doesn't mean that you can no longer enjoy your fanatically guarded, meticulously cared-for, ultimately just-plain-cool vinyl collection. While few modern A/V receivers feature a "phono" input with the necessary pre-amplification and equalization for playing records, Sony's PSLX300USB has been designed with a built-in pre-amp that amplifies the low-level current induced in the cartridge to a line-level current that can be amplified by your receiver to power your loudspeakers. Additionally, the EQ switch performs the necessary signal equalization otherwise handled by a receiver's phono input. (Because records are made with expanded high frequencies and reduced low frequencies, upon reproduction of their audio content, these frequencies must be rescaled — reduced and expanded, respectively — in order to achieve accurate reproduction of the original sound. This rescaling is termed "equalization".)
If cassette tapes and compact discs — and now the ubiquitous 'MP3s' — have any advantage over vinyl, it's 'portability'. You just can't go jogging with a turntable clipped to your hip. Thanks to its USB port, the PSLX300USB gives you the option of loading your favorite Long Play albums or 45 singles onto your computer to then be quickly and easily burnt onto a CD or loaded onto your MP3 player. Now you can take your vinyl collection with you wherever you go. Additionally, the included Audio Studio software makes it easy to archive your music, optimize the sound, and store it on your PC.
Fully automatic operation means more than just "one-button" operation of your new PSLX300USB. Because the tonearm automatically moves the cartridge head into place on the record when you push "Play", you don't have to worry about accidentally damaging the tracks or the stylus when setting the arm manually. Less damage means more years of enjoyment from your collection.
Enjoy playback of your favorite LPs and 45s thanks to the PSLX300USB's belt drive system. Turntable belt drives rotate the platter using an elastomeric belt that absorbs motor vibrations that would otherwise be picked up by the stylus, resulting noise and distortion in the reproduced audio. Other indices of the PSLX300USB's low-noise audio playback are a greater-than-50dB signal-to-noise ratio and a less-than-0.25% RWMS wow and flutter.

i FOUND THE SOFTWAR E TO CONVERT VINYL TO CDS TO BE PRETTY EASY TO UNDERSTAND EXCEPT FOR A FEW DETAILS THAT I RAN INTO WHILE ACTUALLY RECORDING. THE REAL PROBLEM WAS TRYING TO GET IN TOUCH WITH SONY CREATIVE SOFTWARE WHICH AFTER THREE HOURS I GAVE UP.

Again, Sony makes excellent equipment that is easy to set-up. Tried on both the USB connection to a computer for recording and to a Sony amplifierreciever. Beautiful sound out of both systems. The Audio Studio 9 LE software that came with the turntable is very good in operation. However, for a novice like me, the instructions are poor and some acronyms are not explained, at least I could not find definitions. I could say it is not user friendly. It will take me some time to learn how to do the few things I want to do. That is the reason I give it a 4 for Ease of use. It is not the turntable but the software that makes it a 4.

I am very satisfied with my purchase. It is not only a stylish looking table but it performs very well. I am very happy with the low rumble & wide frequency response. The software that came with it is extremely easy to use. I had a few minutes of difficulty with getting the system settings correct, but once I set the recording input setting to USB, its been working like a charm. The sound quality of the CDs Ive burned & the MP3 files Ive saved to my computer have been beyond my expectations. Overall this turntable & its software are well worth the price.

Great turntable for the price. Has nice features like the both the rca inputs and the usb. Can be used manually or automatic with the ability to hydraulically drop the tone arm. The enclosed software is easy to use and create mp3s. Easy to assemble although the assembly instructions could be a little clearer.The instruction for mounting the platter is confusing. Overall I would recommend this turntable for someone looking to convert their vynil to mp3 or just to connect to a receiver and listen.

Somewhat to my surprise, the turntable works absolutely great...especially for USB-recording from 33s and 45s to computer where the songs can be saved as high quality .mp3s, wave files, or whatever. I made some audio CDs from select 45 RPM songs and there was no loss of quality during the conversion process. The included Sony Sound Forge software works very well. Although I dont agree with the people who regard me as an audiophile, I am extremely pleased with this relatively inexpensive product.

Just bought this turntable for my boyfriend as a birthday present. He is 100 satisfied, and he knows turntables, and is so excited to use it. Because it is such an amazing turntable he was able to hook it up to a mediocre receiver and mediocre speakers, and still, he got GREAT SOUND. I purchased the Sony PSLX300USB to replace the very stripped-down beginner turntable my 13-year-old son has been using. He began collecting vinyl about a year ago for the artwork and unique sound you cannot get in the cd format, but I decided he needs the capability to transfer those tracks onto his pc and iPod so that I dont have to purchase everything in two formats. The component was easy for a 13-year-old to set up after a brief consult with an audio expert having to do with connecting through pc speakersamp rather than the receiveramp set-up and necessary adapters. The turntable was exceptionally well-priced thru Vanns a 30 savings over our local electronics chain department store, and transferring tracks to the pc is very simple. A Great choice for non-techies who also want great sound!

Easy to load software, works fine even with Vista. Recorded a viynl record then burned a CD effortlessly. My sole complaint? The thing has nothing to indicate its ON or OFF. No pilot light, LED, nothing. The only way to tell it is ON? The platter is spinning. Other than that one item, its great, well worth what I paid.

A great turntable at this price point. It sits above a garage with a garage door opener. I was concerned that the vibration would affect the player, but it doesnt cause records to skip. The delivery was fast, and it is a good choice.

I am a Sony man.Everything I own audio and video are Sony products.This turntable has a preamp which means you dont need a dedicated phono jack.Also,I can store my vinyl records on cd via the usb.Only one flaw which is a mere trifle,I wish the usb cable was longer.Anyway,am totally satisfied Thanks.

I bought the Sony PSLX300USB to replace an older JVC L-F41 turntable. Part of me just wanted to replace the old cartridge and stylus on the JVC, but decided to get a new turntable to record my collection of pristine 70s classic rock using the USB output. The Sony was easy to assemble, and worked perfectly right out of the box. I wish the RCA cables were longer - 2 feet doesnt give you much room to manuever. After I loaded the included Audio Studio LE software, It was trial and error making my first recording, but I eventually managed to get it saved to my PC. Monitoring the album while it was recording scared me - it sounded awful! I know the pops and other noises were not present on the album - they were only heard while recording and monitoring through my PC. When I played the music files I saved later on through my PC, it sounded great and so did the CD I burned using iTunes. Im not really sure why it sounded so bad durning recording but as long as the end result was good thats all that matters. I would higly recommend this turntable.

I ordered this Sony PSLX300 USB Turntable in March, 2010, and I received it within just a few days. It was in perfect condition and in the original factory-sealed box. I have been extremely pleased with the performance of the turntable. I am not a technical-type when it comes to electronic equipment, but the sound to me is perfectly good for listening to my 45 and 33 13 records. The turntable was very easy to set up, with minimal assembly. I especially like having the push buttons on the front to startstop and to select the speed. It is very handy to also have the push button to lift the needle up or down when wanting to move to a different track on the record. I can be confident that I am not using undue force that would damage the record. I would recommend this turntable to anyone who wants to listen to their old vinyl records simply for the joy of hearing the music as it was originally recorded. Eventually I will use the turntable to record from the vinyl records to a CD, but that is for the future. Right now I am just happy to be able to play the records on a turntable that has very good sound!

This is a SOLID turntable with a great cartridge and has great sound---MUCH clearer and better than other so-called USB turntables. I have used it with the computer, as well as now using it as my primary turntable on my stereo system. An excellent value, and Vanns shipped very fast and very securely---MUCH appreciated in this day of slow, expensive, poorly packed shipping. I would buy this again in fact I may just buy a spare! and I also would RECOMMEND this to anyone who still has vinyl and wants it to sound GOOD instead of just blah.

I searched up and down the internet for a turntable to play my old vinyl LPs. I did a search and came across the sony model PSLX300USB turntable. This turntable is very good for playing vinyl LPS. You can connect this unit to your present stereo system if you have an AUX input, or connect to your phono input for old school amplifiers or directly to your computer for burning CDs. Keep in mind that you cannot burn CDs directly from this turntable. You must first copy the music from your turntable to your computers hard drive and then, burn to CD. This turntable performs very well with both of my stereo systems. Old and New.
Very well worth the money. i found Vanns to be cheaper than all the other sites during my initial research. Great product for the money.

Extremely pleased with the product. Easy to set up and use . The results are excellent with the USB cable. Allowed me to make my vinyl colection portable wih high quality results. A fairly good turntable for regular use. The software is easy to use. Life gets easier if you plug in the RCA plugs into a amplified speaker system for recording ease cue up etc.. My daughter wanted a turntable, but I didnt want to make a big investment. Vanns helped me to find this gem! Since it has a built in pre-amp, I could attach it directly to her Bose Wave Audio System. The sound is great and perfect for her room size. The two combined are just the right size for her dresser top. Vanns was great in 2 other ways...they helped in finding the right connecting wires I needed for this application and the first table I receicved had a bad needle and they walked me through a VERY EASY repurchase and return.

1. Product arrived well packaged and with all included contents cables, software, etc..
2. Product instructions were easy to follow and assembly was satisfactory.
3. Belt drive is quiet but how can one be sure of the turntable speed rpm? Is the rpm adjustable?
4. I enjoy using the pushbuttons on the right-front panel. Reaching for the stylus cueing lever sometimes caused me to bump the tone arm accidentally.
5. Reproduction is remarkable with my Sony 7.1 channel stereo receiver. I am an old tube geek from way back so I naturally had high expectations. It makes a big difference when the cartridge output is matched with the preampequalizer.

Typical Sony quality abounds in this unit. Ease of USB hookup made it a no-brainer to install. It did a marvelous job of converting my vinyl albums to .wav files.
Except for the quick transfer from album to wave files via the software, I would not give the software high marks, as it is not easy to navigate. There are better freeware programs for editing the finished conversions.
The hardware gets my highest marks, but the software gets only below average marks.

The turntable works fine but the setup instructions are scattered over several sheets making setup a bit confusing. Once you wade through those the operation is smooth including ability to play audio through the desktop speakers while converting the LP to digital.

I purchased this turntable on January 18, it stopped playing and transferring music to the left speaker and digital track on February 12.
I also didnt like that the audio cables are internally attached to the turntable, which does not give the option to upgrade to higher quality cables.
The Sony USB transfer digital recording program included is not MAC compatible.
Other than that the sound quality and playback were excellent.
I guess if you got one that isnt faulty and you have a PC, this is a good turntable for you.

With this easy to hook up, easy to use turntable we are finally able to listen to our collection of vintage vinyl through our existing Sony stereo system. And the music sounds great!
With this turntable you can also record the music to your computer for downloading to portable players etc. Although this was our first experience with Vanns well certainly use them the next time were in the market for electronics.
