Outstanding Value
The performance of Onkyo's higher-end receivers is available at a fraction of the cost by sharing many of the same precision parts and circuit design (WRAT, Non-Scaling Configuration, discrete output stage circuitry) as its more expensive siblings. Adding Onkyo exclusives like Optimum Gain Volume circuitry and CinemaFILTER simply brings out the best in your DTS and Dolby Digital encoded movies and music. There's even Dolby Pro Logic II to further enhance the listening enjoyment of your two channel sources.
Room-Filling Power
The HTR510 is designed to deliver as much as 100 Watts of power into 8 ohms with no more than 0.08 percent THD to each of its six channels (two front, one center and three surrounds) to fill even most of the largest rooms with levels of sound from most subtle to the most dynamic.
WRAT Rocks!
Wide Range Amplifier Technology was developed to tackle the sonic demands of today's multi-channel digital audio formats like DVD-Audio, Super Audio CD and DTS. WRAT virtually eliminates the adverse effects of counter-electromotive force by applying an uncommonly low amount of NFB (negative feedback) - the final result is a flat response beyond 100 kHz, which means you get full bandwidth power across all channels. In other words, this receiver can faithfully reproduce any signal that you want to listen to and do it more accurately than you thought possible!

I own the system since at least 5 years. I never had any problems with it. I bought the system for its sound quality. The sound is exceptional - I am a recording musician and have very, very picky ears. It still is compatible with my newer HDTVHDMI equipment - or rather still overkill for the HD cable boxes out there in a positive sense. As with all Onkyo systems, the speaker cables are a bit skinny, but thats an easy fix.
I just ordered a newer 7.1 Onkyo system here, which also has been rated as exceptional value. I of course will not sell my 6.1 system! No way!

The Onkyo HT-R510 is an unusual value because it is basically a Onkyo 701 amplifier in a 501 chassis. It has the 701's 100 watt power but has less inputs-outputs like the 501. Less i-o's are not a problem for me since I have it hooked up to a 51' HDTV, a set-top ATSC HD tuner, 2 vcr's and a DVD player in a theater system and there are digital and analog io's left over. My audio components are now in a separate room with my old, but still good, stereo receiver.
The HT-R510 originally sold in a HTIB home-theater-in-a-box with speakers but I bought it without original speakers. Onkyo apparently bent over backwards in this very competitive HTIB market. It is such a good deal I actually bought two, one for me and one as a gift. My son and his family enjoy the HT-R510 gift very much. I can't recommend it enough for bang-for-the-buck. Vann's deal is top-notch. If you buy it, you will be impressed too.

I have always been a loyal Kenwood user, but recently when I went shopping for a new receiver to replace my old, non-Dolby Digital receiver I came across this unit from Onkyo. I knew Onkyo was one of those higher-ended brands that normally were out of my budget along with Harmon Kardon, Yamaha, Bose, but I spotted this unit on the shelf and was surprised by the price. I left with the model number in hand and went home to research it. I found various sites where the purchasers were praising it. Well, that was reason enough for me to purchase it and all I can say is WOW! I would highly recommend this unit to anyone, and it looks like I have left Kenwood behind and will follow Onkyo around now.
