Pros Price, quality build, appearance, HDMI switch feature, dot matrix display, audio quality, subwoofer frequency crossover adjust.
Cons Run a bit hot, probably because class B for minimum sound distortion requires higher quiescent current. I recommend to turn off audyssey sound equalizer off for flat respond, the microphone auto speaker calibration does good in sound level adjusting but not good in auto adjust equalizer for individual speakers so you should do it manually or turn it off.

I really dont think that there is a better receiver in this price range than this one. The watts per channel is perfectly loud if I want it for my mid sized room. It also seemed to me that most of the other receivers in this price range had a few more wpc and ALOT more THD who wants loud distorted sound? the .08 THD on this unit is noticeably clearer sounding than my last receiver that was 1 THD. I also like the HDMI 1.3 pass through switcher because I have a tivo and blu ray player that both have hdmi 1.3 and only one HDMI input into my TV. This unit saved me $75-$150 on a HDMI v1.3 switcher. There are plenty of digital inputs and the audessey microphonesetup wizard really nails you right into the sweet spot. I like the universal remote control and this unit is pretty easy to set up. I also like the custom surround sound settings, especially the TV logic for when Im just watching the news in the morning. Add 7 days a week of customer support and a full 2 year warranty and you have a real winner. If youre looking for a less expensive 7.1 receiver, then look no further.....youve already found it. |
