This is my third Pioneer Elite receiver. I have also owned Denon, Onkyo, and Yamaha. There is no questioning that the Elite series has a special touch that it adds to movies. The clarity and sound seperation is truly amazing. Watch the opening sequence in The Temple of Doom, and you are in the jungle.

I was a little worried about the auto setup on this new receiver. I dont think a computer has better ears than I do. I was very suprised at how easy it was to do and it still let me manually tweak the settings to get the right sound. Usually it takes me 2 or three movies to get the sound just right this one 15 minutes no joke.

If you dont have a lot of money for speakers buy this receiver. I have tested it on a set of Klipsch reference speakers and a set of cheap Onkyo speakers from my sons room. The VSX-90TXV makes me question the investment in the Klipsch because it brings the listening experience to almost the same level out of the Onkyos.

One thing to note the only shortcoming of this reciever is that it does not process the digital sound from the HDMI inputs. You have to run a digital audio cable get the sound to be processed.

Overall an excellent receiver at MSRP but at Vanns price it is the best value on the planet, trust me I have looked.

I just set up this Pioneer Elite VSX-90TXV in place of a Denon AVR-687 to ensure it is working properly and its made quite an impression. While this is not the system its destined to power it make the Denon sound quite ho-hum and is tempting me to buy a second one.

The clarity and separation are a magnitude better than the Denon. Also, the automatic calibration routine of the Pioneer is significantly more detailed - who knows, maybe this is the reason it sounds so much better.

The only reason Ive given this receiver a 4 for ease of use is the myriad of buttons on he remote and the requirement for a map of the back panel to find some of the connections. I think though, that when its all set up it shouldnt be too complicated.

During my purchase of this Pioneer receiver, I had to call Vanns to verify my credit card information. With most retailers, an exercise like this is not cause for cheer - ever try to even find a phone number for Amazon ... however the lady at Vanns answered the phone right away without subjecting me to the 7 levels of hell of an most automated response systems. She handled the issue promptly, intelligently and all in English .. wow!

This reciever has the power to push crisp clear music & sounds thru my JBL speakers. Plenty of features including the ability to play different music in 2 rooms. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a good deal on a great reciever. Shoot they even gave me 2 ceiling speakers to boot, I dont have them installed yet but they look good & are rated for 100 watts.
Good & quick service and great place to do business with. I will be a returning customer !!
