Bought this for my Home Theatre System. I have a couple Polk Monitor 70s and a Klipsch Subwoofer hooked up. The sound is great. It sounds really clear at low and high volumes. I do not like that I cannot have the cable picture on the TV at the same time as audio coming from a different source unless I use an optical cable. I just want to be able to watch a sports game while listening to music but I have to buy another cable.

This receiver arrived very promptly. After getting all connections and calibrations made the receiver performs well. It is a fairly basic receiver without a lot of bells and whistles and has just the basic connections. However the sound is great and this is a nice receiver for those interested in good sound and performance and not a lot of advanced features. I liked the Audyssey software for calibrating the speakers. I would purchase from this vendor again.

I bought the Denon AVR-1613 to replace a 19 yr old Denon stereo receiver I used to power additional speakers for the TV. I purchased a 2012 TV with HDMI ARC technology, and wanted a new amplifier with HDMI ARC technology to run these same front speakers. ARC stands for audio return channel, and allows sound over an HDMI connection. That means one cable from the TV to the AVR-1613, with everything else such as a Blu-ray player, cable set top box, game center, etc., plugged into the Denon through 4 additional HDMI ports. You can set the AVR-1613 to control which device is playing on TV using Dolby 5.1 surround. Nothing plays if the unit is turned off. Or set it to bypass to watch TV normally using the TV speakers with the unit turned off. I also have a 19 yr old Denon 5 CD carousel player hooked up to the AVR-1613 using analog audio cables. The onscreen setup menu works well. I am sold on Denon, but I have had this product less than a month. I do not expect any problems, and am very pleased with its performance. A message was included in the packaging stating that some new phones may not work with this unit, but Denon is working on a fix. Also am unhappy not receiving a printed owners manual, but a CD manual is included.
