This Onkyo receiver provides a good value acting as the nerve center of anyones home theater system. Paired this with a set of Boston Acoustics speakers- certainly meets our needs.

This receiver was purchased soley for hook-up with a plasma TV.
This along with some inexpensive Polk bookself speakers made a huge difference in sound quality.
The receiver is well designed with easy hook-up and very nice features on the remote.
A much better solution than a soundbar or all in one package.
A great value, that was delivered quickly over the holidays.
Good job Vanns.............

I am extremely pleased with the Onkyo Receivers, Amps, & Tuners TX-SR309
unit I purchased from anns. Service was excellent, product shipped and recieved as expected. The X-SR309 is a great Home Theatre 5.1 driver for a home theatre speaker system!
Just took a bit to understand the setup procedure to make everything function properly!
But, got it down and unit is great!

I bought this receiver and a Samsung Blueray player to connect to a recently purchased TCL 40 TV. I use older floorstanding Advent speakers front and rear, an inexpensive Sony center speaker and an Infinity 150watts sub. This is a set up in my basement mostly used by my kids. The relults? Great! The Onkyo was bought as a return piece for about $185.00. The set up was a snap, very powerful and clean sound all around, the picture on the TV fantastic. I have not yet had the opportunity to get into all the details, but the first impression is absolutly great. It beats 1oo to 1 any HTIB system without any shade of a doubt. I even hooked up an old VCR without any problems.
Vanns has done it again.

Istarted with a Samsung Home Theater system from a box store retailer and felt it was just too cheap a system so I returned it, but not until after some careful research. I settled on the TX-SR309, a BD player, and a speaker set. It cost a little more but the overall quality is clearly superior. The USB port is great allowing many hours of my favorite music or just selecting my favorite tunes connect to TV via HDMI for dispay. Ive never had such an awesome system. Next comes a game system.
While Im still trying to figure out all the functions - this is a full featured receiver that produces crisp clear sound at all volume levels. Oh sure theres an instruction manual, but thats not nearly as fun as pushing buttons to see what happens. When I first set this up I couldnt turn it on or off with the remote so I called Onkyo support, quickly got a live tech who simply asked Did you try pressing the recevier button? Problem solved.
Im sure you could spend hundreds of dollars more on a system that may be only a minor marginal improvement.

For the price, hard to find a better receiver. Good looks, great sound and reception. Very easy to set up I didnt cuss once! but somewhat cludgy to operate from the unit face as opposed to the remote, which is perfectly easy.

This is a very simple and easy unit to set up, it is not the greatest receiver but for the money it one heck of a deal, you can't go wrong.
I had an Onkyo that lasted me over ten years before it gave up, replaced it with this one and was a good choice.

I bought the Onkyo TX-SR309 a month ago and have been very happy with it. It has great sound, good AMFM reception and the updated IPod port right on the front. I use it with a HDMI output from a PC graphics card to watch HULU and it works perfectly. When using the IPod if my flat sceen is on I can use it as a display for the IPod controls, otherwise the play lists are displayed on the front panel display. I paid more than the current price at VANNs and I don't feel bad paying what I did but you will pay $50 less. Onkyo is a great product line and this is the lowest price point anywhere. If you can afford it look at the 509 to get the integrated network support.

This reciever is packed with great features, including the Ipod input on the front. The power amp section runs any standard speakers with ease. Tuner reception is above average without and expensive external antenna. Funtionality is simple and easy to understand. I would recomend this product. 5.1 is perfect for any AV setup. For features and price Onkyo can not be beat.
