Step into the 7.1-channel studio
There's but one go-to source for an HD experience in today's home theater . . . you've probably heard of it — Blu-ray Disc. Now, while you might be accustomed to associating the terms "high definition" and "Blu-ray" with video, we'd like to direct your attention to another facet of the HD home experience: audio. You see, not only does Blu-ray technology bring you Full HD video, but it also sports uncompressed, studio-quality surround sound audio. While the storage-capacity limitations of DVD required that some of a movie soundtrack's high and low frequencies be removed, the dramatically expanded storage capacity of Blu-ray Disc makes it possible to fit the full, uncompromised, studio-original soundtrack on every Blu-ray movie. However, because the studio-original audio found on Blu-ray is in digital format, and your speakers need an analog signal, you need some way to translate the digital signal into analog. Enter the RX-V567 home theater receiver from Yamaha. Outfitted with Dolby TrueHD and dts-HD Master Audio decoding technologies, this system's receiver is fully capable of unleashing the impeccable surround sound found on your favorite Blu-ray titles. And because it sports seven channels of powered output at 90W each, the RX-V567 is ideal for fueling living room's multi-channel speaker system with the audio the director intended for you to hear.
HDMI for the 3D future
If A/V receivers are the heart of today's home theater system, then HDMI connectivity is the centerpiece of any A/V receiver. You've probably heard of it, but just in case: HDMI, or High Definition Multimedia Interface, is the single most advanced home theater connectivity option available. Allowing you to transmit Full HD video and 7.1-channels of studio-quality surround sound along a single cable, HDMI accomplishes with ease what it would otherwise require a dozen audio and video cables to achieve. And guess what? It just got better. Catapulting ahead of the previous HDMI v1.3a standard, the new HDMI v1.4 equips your home theater for the future of home entertainment . . . and the RX-V567 from Yamaha has it. For example, once you've updated the receiver with a fast and simple firmware upgrade, the RX-V567's HDMI v1.4 inputs and output will be 3D capable. In other words, you'll be able to seamlessly integrate all of your new 3D-capable home theater components into a unified whole using this single A/V receiver. Further, thanks to support for Deep Color and x.v.Color extended color gamuts, as well as 120Hz and 24Hz video content, this HDMI-equipped receiver is outfitted to meet all of your advanced home theater requirements. Finally, the HDMI v1.4 output featured on the RX-V567 supports the new audio return channel, allowing audio signals received by your HDMI-connected TV — as from a TV antenna or gaming console — to be sent "upstream" along the connected HDMI v1.4 cable to the RX-V567 for playback over your speaker system.
Upscale video
You've just invested in a new HD home theater system. The whole she-bang: HDTV, Blu-ray player, 7.1-channel speaker system, etcetera. The only thing is, most of your home video library consists of standard definition video content like that found on DVD. Fret not, lover of all things home-theater; it's not "lights out" for your DVD collection. Thanks to the RX-V567's video processing and scaling, this Yamaha receiver is able to upscale all standard definition 480i and 720p video content to high definition 1080p. Video from all sources — composite video, component video, S-video — becomes a perfect match to your HDTV.
Go beyond CD audio
You're ready to take your home audio experience beyond your personal CD collection and you're looking for the receiver that will take you there. With the RX-V567 from Yamaha, you're prepared to make that move. If you venture into the realm of compressed audio — think MP3, portables. . . something called the "iPod" — your new RX-V567 is ready with iPod and iPhone compatibility. Simply hook an optional YDS-11 or YDs-12 dock to your RX-V567, your iPod to the dock, and, POW, you've got a whole new world of audio at your disposal.
Ahh, Bluetooth
Letting you enjoy music wirelessly from Bluetooth enabled mobile phones, portable devices, or personal computes, the RX-V567 is equipped to use the optional YBA-10 Bluetooth Wireless Audio Receiver. The optional YBA-10 both lets you connect the dock to the receiver and supports A2DP audio streaming.
Enhanced audio is happy audio.
Taking the experience of your portable audio at home one step further, the RX-V567 features compressed audio restoration technology. Most portable audio formats — like MP3, for example — are compressed audio formats. This means that some audio information (usually higher and lower frequency information) has been removed in order to shrink the file, allowing you to fit more songs into the same memory space. Your RX-V567's sophisticated digital signal processing with exclusive algorithms enable playback that improves the performance of compressed music formats, including MP3 and WMA. With the Compressed Music Enhancer, highs and especially lows are richer and smoother, bringing music back to life and as close to the original as possible. Experience your portable audio like never before, at home.
Custom tailored to your listening area: YPAO
Using YPAO automatic system calibration technology, your new RX-V567 automatically optimizes your audio system's performance to the acoustics of your listening area. With a small microphone and sophisticated equalization technology, YPAO first checks the speaker connections and phase of each speaker. Then it sends out tones which are captured by the microphone to analyze the room acoustics and sets a variety of parameters, such as the speaker size, the distance of the speakers and even the sound pressure level until it achieves the best sound conditions for your room. Custom performance at the touch of a button &mdash YPAO technology from Yamaha.
SCENE — A new level of operating ease
Four SCENE buttons on the included remote control make operating the RX-V567 easier than ever. The four buttons are initially set to default settings for DVD Viewing, Disc Listening, TV Viewing and Radio Listening. Pressing a SCENE button automatically launches a number of operations that initiate play of the source controlled by that button. Other SCENE settings are also available, such as iPod Listening, TV Sports Viewing and Action Game Playing. Browsing and selecting the settings is quickly accomplished by rotating the Input knob and watching the on-screen display. The settings can be selected for one-time use, or they can replace the original default settings. The SCENE names can be changed, also.
Your HD lifeline
High Definition Multimedia Interface, or HDMI, is the only home A/V connection that allows for both Full HD 1080p video and 7.1-channel studio-quality audio to be passed along a single cable. In other words, in order to take full advantage of your home theater's high definition potential, you need to HDMI cabling to link HD-capable components. It's only natural that you might have questions regarding how best to outfit your personal HD system. Vann's sales representatives are here to explain all of your options. It is easy to set up and performed as I expected. Sound quality was good. One of the components connected was an old VCR which has component video output with redwhite stereo sound. This unit only accepts component output together with optical digital audio. I was forced to use composite connection for that component. It was not a big deal since I was going to get rid of that anyway.

I have had this product for 2 months and am disappointed. The unit shuts off when playing sound loud not even half volume after hald an hour, so it must have an overheating problem. Also, the unit is not compatible with the sony BDP-S570 blu-ray disk player frequently the picture will flash all green, then return to the picture. I am sorry I bought this unit, but you get what you pay for.

After a particularly bad lightning storm, my 8 year old beloved Yamaha RX-V1400 receiver wouldnt turn on again. So much for the surge protectorpower spike protector I had it plugged into. Either way I was considering getting it fixed as it worked perfectly and sounded incredible but decided that it made more sense just replacing it with a warranteed unit. But with what? Of course, it would be another Yamaha as I found the sound quality and adjustability unparralleled in this price range. What drew me to the RX-V1400 in the first place was its then brand new YPAO feature to automatically adjust the equalization and volume levels of EACH speaker in the room to be balanced with each other for a uniform and accurate sound. This is accomplished with a supplied microphone that you place at the ideal listening spot and the receiver then plays a number of test tones through the speakers which get analyzed and an EQ curve and level adjustment is applied. What is more important is after the receiver applies this, you still have three options from an EQ perspective Use the YPAO curve, create your own graphic EQ curve per speaker! or disable EQ straight through. What I found was that although the YPAO helps create a unified sound, it sounds a bit boxy and I didnt like how loud the rear channels were. In short, I needed more control and wanted to override it by adjusting levels and using the graphic EQ instead. This is what made my previous RX-V1400 so awesome and what I was looking for in its replacement. Quick setup for instant gratification and granular control once I was ready to dive deep into the graphic EQ and levels manually.
Which brings us to its replacement. The RX-V567 a brand new model touting HDMI 1.4a which is the spec necessary for connectivity to so-called 3D ready TV sets and devices. Earlier HDMI versions may or may not even pass audio digitally via the cable, but this one does and has the necessary increased bandwidth for 3D sets. More data is passed when 3D is involved.
Since im still using my older CRT based Sony RPTV, this wont be needed, but I can see myself upgrading to a 3D TV at one point and wanted the receiver to be ready. At this point if youre buying a receiver it makes good sense to go with the 3D ready models like the RX-V567.
The RX-V567 is close to but not the exact replacement for the RX-V1400 but it is a great unit. It does most things better and somethings not as good but the trade-off is worth it. The RX-V1400 was a higher end model with better quality knobs, cleaner front panel design, supported a second pair of speakers for another room and had discrete amps per speaker. This time around I didnt have quite the same funds so I made some concessions but I didnt compromise where it really counted.
What I wanted 7.1 channels, Graphic EQ per speaker, On-Screen Display, Scene buttons, 3D ready and Yamaha quality and sound.
So far Ive used it for a few weeks so I have a pretty good handle on how well it works. The sound quality is typical Yamaha - which is to say excellent even without the discrete amps per speaker which some argue may not improve sound so the jury is out on that , the YPAO works exactly the same and so does the graphic EQ options which meant my learning curve was nearly zero. The unit has some really excellent new features that make using the many HD devices people are connecting to their TVs DVD, BD-DVD, Gaming Consoles, Cable Box, etc... easy to use. There are scene buttons that you can program and recall which will remember the combination of equipment to turn on and which inputs to select. This is a HUGE benefit as previously you were left to use many individual remotes to do one thing such as play xbox 360 or watch a dvd or watch Cable TV, etc.... Now instead of fumbling with a ton of remotes to do just one thing, you can have a button programmed to recall the scene and watch instantly. This is a boon for the remote challenged or people that want to remove the many remotes from the couch.
So overall, the sound quality, connectivity flexibility, on screen display all make it a winner in my book. Vanns is a great place to buy and I was very happy with my overall experience. Highly recommended!
