| This receiver has it all, from HDMI upcoversion to the latest and greatest HD audio formats. It is almost overwhelming when you first see how many speaker inputs this thing has on the back of it. My old 7.1 Onkyo gave me the option of either having 5.1 surround with a Zone 2 capability or having 7.1 surround. Is there an option, of course you go 7.1 surround right? This receiver gives you the option of 5.1 surround and a zones 2 and 3 or 7.1 surround and zone 2 or 7.1 and using zone 2 function to bi-amp your front speakers for the ultimate home theatre experience!!!! This sucker is powerful, and I mean it. I have owned 100 watt per channel receivers, 120 watt per channel receivers, and now 130 watt per channel. This sucker cranked up half way still has a lot of breathing room to spare. This puppy is heavy, and when shipped weighed in at 62lbs!!! Vanns was incredible and always has been. My last Onkyo came from Vanns and so did this Onkyo. Vanns has been a store I have trusted ever since I used to live in Montana. Wonderful service, I ordered the receiver on Saturday night and the receiver got to my house by Wednesday afternoon, free of shipping charge. Its funny, I had just purchased the Yamaha 6090 2 months ago, but as soon as I saw this receiver I had to have it. Onkyo just sounds warmer, so if warmth is what you are looking for go Onkyo. I am in love with this receiver, and if you are an avid Onkyo fan I know you will love this receiver as well. |

| this receiver is fantastic .you have to spend more to get the quality and features . the sound is awesome . it does run a little warm . but if you turn of zone 2 snd 3 it wil run cooler . love the silver . onkyo again has raised the bar on quality products . |

I have heard a great deal about the TX-SR805 and it does live up to its hype. I think this is absolutely the best bang for the buck. Vanns also has this reciever for the best price I have seen anywhere online or off. One thing that isnt specified real clear is that the TX-SR805 has bi-amping capability for the front channels. When using the front channel in a bi-amp mode you use the back surround speaker output so you can only have 5.1 but who cares since 90 of the DVDs out there are only 5.1 anyway.
Vanns had this as a pre-order when I ordered but it still arrived faster than some furniture ordered a few days earlier from a local furniture shop WAY TO GO VANNS. The set-up of this reciever and the remote control are not intuitive and so you will spend an hour or two getting things set-up just right but when it is set up the sound is great. My old Kenwood Sovereign reciever was much more intuitive to set-up but didnt sound near as good as the Onkyo. The remote is combersome but is learning and does the trick. |

| I purchased a new Onkyo TX-SR805s Silver two weeks ago. So far I have nothing but great things to say about this fine Home Theater Receiver. First and foremost- I paid $699 for the receiver and there isnt another Home Theater receiver with the feature set this one has for the price- in fact you have to pay over $1000 for a receiver with the fine features this one has. The receiver decodes both Dolby True HD, DTS-Master which are phenomenal sound modes. You just have to make sure you set your blue ray player to send bitstream so the receiver can decode the data. 3 HDMI outputs are included on the receiver as well. I have both an HD-DVD and a Blu-Ray player and my Direct TV attached via the HDMI inputs, and just one HDMI cable to the HDTV. The receiver utilizes deep color and HDMI 1.3- the latest HDMI standard. All in all I love this receiver and for the money- its the best in its class. |

This receiver replaced an aging Denon 3803. The new technology incorporated in the Onkyo blew the socks off the Denon. The speaker calibration feature works great, crystal clear sound, bass where needed, nothing overdone...excellent. Ive been into musicvideo for over 25 years and I have to say, this has to be the best buy I every made in an audiovideo receiver. Vanns service and delivery time are unexcelled.
