First let me start by saying I was most pleased with Vanns and the knowledge of their staff. I called just prior to Christmas and discussed different receivers form three different venders. I found the support staff well informed and with exceptional knowledge. After about 15 minutes on the phone I made my decision and ordered the Yamaha RX-V1800. I am very pleased with my choice and have found this receiver to be as well made as they come. I would recommend purchasing at least this level receiver if you intend on using it for surround sound theater as well as music. This unit does a great job with all separation and was easy to set up. The self adjusting balance for my speakers was spot on and worked great. The other advantage of this system is that it allows you to play music in another room while you watch your favorite TV show yet in another. Yamaha has a great name and this receiver is well worth the extra dollars. Step up and pay the extra you wont regret it down the road. It drives my speakers which are Paradigms beautifully. My 130 watt center is clear and crisp and never sounded so good. I would say if you ever intend to be watching 3D, then you may want to step up one level to the next unit and get the one that is 3D capable, its not a huge amount of money more. Few TVs are capable, but it seems the one I have is, the Samsung 61 LED. I have no interest in the 3D so I didnt spend the additional money. If you dont have the need or ever expect that you will then you will never be disappointed with the RX-V1800,its a GREAT receiver with everything youll need for years and years to come. Both remotes are excellent and set up easily with my Harmony 550 and with no issues. Its so nice to have my entire system working flawlesly off one remote and with all the receivers features available to me. I guess you can tell I am very pleased with my purchase. I will also say I was a bit nervous at first being in Maine and buying a receiver via mail order. I will say that I would not hesitate buying anything from Vanns, they were great and came through in every way Product, Price, Knowledge,Integrity, Trust,Delivery and great customer Service. Thank you Vanns for a great purchase experience. |
