This reciever is alwesome, especially at this price. The setup is simple thanks to its simple On Screen menu. The auto cabilration made it sound amazing. The only problem I had was my Time Warner cable box. It only has a DVI output and when I tried to use an adapter cable, the reciever popped up a mmessage saying the device didnt support HDCP and wouldnt display an image. Called up Time Warner and theyre bringing me out another box with an hdmi output so all is well.

The Onkyo TX-SR705 is an excellent receiver. Easy set-up and I was up and running with a Playstation 3, HD-DVD, Satellite Box and karaoke machine calibrated with the set-up mic in an hour. Ofcourse this was an upgrade from my old Sony reciever eergo the easy transition. What was very convenient was the 3 HDMI inputs so I only have one out to the TV. I have mid-grade JBL speakers and these sound awesome hooked-up to the receiver. One thing I noticed though is the upconversion of other signals to supposedly 720p does not work as well as I thought it would but oh well, I bought it for the sound and it was well worth it.

If youre on the search train looking for a new receiver this is your stop. I just recently purchase the TX-SR705 from Vanns and its incredible!!! I kept going back an forth between the SR605 and just decided to forked over the extra bucks for a receiver that looks pretty Future Proof. You wont find a receiver with the features it has without paying close to $1500 to $2,000. Only Denons and Pioneers high-end Elites will come close...but by that point your starting to pay for the name. I have been very pleased with the performace of the SR705...more on the audio side. Although, the receiver does have Farouja DCDi deinterlacing onboard you can still notice some rough edges if the input source is from a analog source and out to the TV via HDMI. However, all in all its not bad, considering youll have to really shell out some big bucks to get something like HQV that does a great job of video upscaling. On the Audio side of the house the SR705 is Phenomenal!!! First and fore most you get a THX certified stamp, and on top of that it has Dolby True-HD, and dts-HD master audio system decoders. You have a choice between XM and Sirius radio, not to mention it supports XM HD. All in all this is probable the BEST receiver out there on the market for less than $1,000. You wont regret buying this great ONKYO product!!!
