Big Sound From a Small Space
The Synergy Series SB-1 bookshelf loudspeaker sports a very compact size but still manages to deliver all the power, detail and emotion of music and movies. This nine-pound, 12.5-inch miniature marvel holds the same performance values of systems twice its size. The SB-1 creates a dynamic sound from an uncommonly small enclosure by using a 1-inch polymer-dome compression driver coupled to a 4-inch square Tractrix Horn that creates a 90-degree x 60-degree radiation pattern. Its magnetically shielded 5.25-inch graphite-injected woofer provides powerful bass and remarkable sonic detail.
Smart Sounding Design
The SB-1 offers the same features as its larger Synergy Series counterparts, including a high-definition crossover network and an internally braced enclosure. Its cast-polymer woofer frame has exceptional impact tolerance to protect the driver's internal parts and maintain their critical alignment. A rear-mounted port increases efficiency and extends bass response, allowing high output with low distortion and low turbulence. Klipsch's unique woofer venting system keeps both the magnet and voice coil cool to ensure long-term reliability. The SB-1's enclosure employs the highest-quality MDF construction and is finished in jet ash vinyl veneer. This bookshelf also features a "floating," or suspended, grille design, which minimizes image-impairing sonic reflections.
Video Shielding
In the past it wasn't possible to place speakers close to your TV due to possible damage from the magnetic fields inside the speaker. This limited speaker placement options, which has become more critical with today's smaller rooms and home theater applications. Video shielded means that these speakers can be placed in close proximity to your television without disrupting the picture or causing permanent damage.

I just bought a complete Klipsch 7 speaker setup 4xSB-1, 1xSC-1, and 2xSB-1. The imaging is phenomenal, but the speakers are a little bright. After adjusting the system setup and bringing down the 'highs' they sound great. You will defiantly need a sub to boost the lows, but they are great on there own.

I purchased these speakers for a rear surround setup and they work very well. The sound quality is very good and they have a nice range. Played them with SACD's and the sound is very nice. Good bookshelf or rear surround. For the money, they are a very good speaker and the wattage handling is also impressive.

First off, I want to thank Vanns for their great customer service. If you call them during their working hours, a live person actually answers your phone in a minute or two. That's rare these days - Klipsch SB-1's are amazing. They sound so nice that they make you think that, you ought to pay twice or thrice as much to get that quality.I am very happy at my decision to buy them. I auditioned a few brands at the local best buy, and got addicted to these. I don't regret that decision. I bought 3 pairs, to make them as part of a 7.1 system. I had a problem with 1 pair, they were defective right out of box Woofer was out of place and shaking. But Vanns promised to replace the defective ones.It was hassle free. So overall, great speakers at an amazing price and an awesome store to make your shopping pleasant.

These speakers are incredible. The klipsch name is just serious professional quality compared to anything else I have heard, including Bose. I was really surprised at how clear they are. The sound quality is just so clean and clear it's amazing. By the way, I don't have some fancy amp, I have a mid-range Yamaha amp that cost about $250 It's hard to describe but at the high end the sound literally jumps out at you. A remastered CD with guitar sounds like the guitarist is literally playing in the room. You DO however have to turn up the bass on your receiver to get the full bottom end, but that is what you would expect from a bookshelf speaker. Anyway, I listened to these side by side with my Klipsch KLF-10's which are huge floor standing speakers with 2 10 inch woofers each. The bookshelf speakers sound 99 as good in a much smaller package, and are definitely brighter and cleaner on the high end. My recommendation would be to pair these with a subwoofer if you like a lot of bass, otherwise the speakers are great by themselves.

A common thread in most reviews of these bad boys is something like 'big soundsmall size' and this is undoubtedly true. But don't let the small-size caveat drive you away. These will play your socks off if properly driven. I have enjoyed many years of service from a pair of SB-3's, and could not pass up the opportunity to build a Synergy surround system with the SB-1's as the surrounds when I saw their price here at Vann's. After the arrival of the SB-1's, I half-jokingly hooked them up next to the SB-3's for break-in with some Coltrane, Handel, and Dave Matthews, and found their sound to be remarkably full and musical right out of the box, even in comparison to the much bigger 3's. Admittedly, the bass is more limited, but if you pair these with any decent sub, the sound will in my opinion be top-notch. If playing loud and low sans sub is a priority, you'll likely need something bigger, but its strengths in detailing precise music and reproducing movie effects make the SB-1 very difficult to beat.

These Klipsch SB 1s are very clean and handles nicely with 100 watts channel receiver. These speakers along side a good powered subwoofer will definitely make your days a lot brighter. Klipsch makes some very clean, higher sensitivity speakers which makes them play clearer and demand less power watts from your receiver. You can't lose with these speakers...They're just that good.

I bought a pair of these SB-1 's from Vanns for three reasons. #1 is the quality of the Klipsch product. #2 is the low price I recieved from Vann's. #3 is the confidence I had in making an online purchase at Vann's. Although these speakers were discontinued in 2004 by Klipsch, they are an excellent value in a true bookshelf sized speaker. Sonic clarity is great, and you can crank them up to fill a room with sound. The ability of this speaker to get down into the 60 hz range is very good for it's 5.25 inch woofer. Although if its the boom of the bass you need buy a sub-woofer to complete your system.

A close friend of mine recently wowwed me with his home theater system comprising a Yamaha RX-Z series receiver and Klipsch Reference series speakers.
Since I could not afford the high-end pieces but still wanted great audio when watching action movies, I bought a Yamaha RX-V750 receiver and a pair of Klipsch SF-1s to try out. Boy, was I impressed!I previously had a cheap packaged Sony 5.1 system with mini-speakers.
Consequently, I had to search out the matching centerSC-1 and surroundsSS-1 to complete my system. But then I found SB-1s on sale at Vann's and after looking at the frequency range I ordered them with the SC-1. The SS-1s may spread the sound over a wider area but I wanted more bass from the SB-1s to fill my 14x20 partially-open room. The result is unbelievable! I am totally satisfied with what I got at about 20 of the cost of my friend's system!
In sum the Klipsch Synergy series speakers are unbeatable in value for their effiency, clarity, and price!
Note The SB-1s likewise with the SF-1s are ported in the rear so they sound a lot better if mounted on extended brackets or placed away from the wall.

I am very particular in terms of sorting out the best quality for the price. I don't keep track of the hours I spend reviewing and engaging in chat mail on audiospeaker internet reviews, or the time I spend at audioelectronic stores to compare top level, highly recommended speakers side by side. This is my mania.
Each of us has our own unique way of hearing sounds. For me, I like a mellow, but controlled balanced sound for my classic and popular music collection - from Verdi opera arias and Tchaikovsky violin concertos, to Michael Jackson, Phil Collins, Tina Turner and Ray Charles.
Bottom line, I bought my first set of Klipsch Speakers - SB1 about 3 years ago for $200. I have never regretted listening to them for a minute. I am setting up another receiverCD player for my son and when I saw these speakers for the Vann's price - it was a 'no brainer.' For the price - you can't go wrong. The ordering was simple, the follow up immediate and the product was shipped at no extra cost.
Vann's came through 'flawless' and I am sure the Klipsch speakers will do the same.

I put a pair of Klipsch SB-1's in a new sunroom. I needed small and light, for wall mounting, but wanted quality. To be honest, I have always respected the Klipsch name and was thrilled to be able to get a pair at a great price. I am very satisfied with them, and the free shipping was an important bonus. Now they are $20 cheaper, still with free shipping. I strongly recommend them.
