Each of these floorstanding speakers include 3 drivers, providing a terrific range of sound while remaining less than 10 inches wide. The 3-way speakers include a 1-inch balanced dome tweeter, a 3.25-inch midrange driver and an 8-inch bass driver. The speakers are magnetically shielded, allowing placement right next to your television set without worry about interference. The black finish fits well with most decor, and speaker cables are provided so you can hook up these speakers as soon as you take them out of the box.
The 8" bass drivers and 3.25" midrange drivers in these speakers feature improved H.O.P. cones to bring you overall sound improvement. H.O.P. stands for Sony's exclusive Highly Oriented Polyolefine, which is a speaker cone material of extraordinary strength. It's up to 30 times more rigid, per unit weight, than polypropylene. This material delivers sound with lower distortion and extraordinary transient response when compared to more traditional materials. So get some extra H.O.P. out of your music with these speakers.
Of course the woofers and midrange drivers aren't the only parts of these speakers to get special attention. The tweeters were built with their own Nano-Fine technology to improve sound delivery. Conventional material suffers from high internal loss and low resistance to both heat and humidity. The Nano-Fine material gives you much lower internal loss, and high resistance to both heat and humidity. The result is crisper sound at the high end, adding to your overall sound experience.

I purchased these speakers after reading many positive reviews about them. I am extremely happy with the speakers... they have a clear natural sound and are not boomy at all. Many speakers this size have a boomy sound quality in the bass region, but these do not. Sony has managed to make speakers that sound great and also are a great value!

I am in the beginning stages of building a home theater and I was looking for front speakers that were low cost and decent sounding. As I do not have the resources to purchase high-end equipment, I was immediately drawn to Sony. Sony has a reputation of quality products. Therefore, that is where I began and ended my search. Sony offers several different models for front speakers SS-F700060005000. After looking at their individual specifications and reviews, it was clear the SS-F5000 speakers were more suited for my needs. The price was right, and the reviews were positive. So I bought them. I was not sure what to expect, in terms of performance, from these speakers. I was pleasantly surprised when I hooked them up to my Pioneer VSX-520-K receiver! Although my receiver is entry-level, the speakers sounded great! The sound is not audiophile quality but it is definitely better than the price would make you think. Overall, this product is a great value and I would recommend it to anyone beginning a home theater or for those with limited resources. You will not be disappointed!

Seriously, for the money you cant beat them. They are not my Klipsch by anymeans, but I also didnt expect them to be considering the price. These are surprising bright but not harsh. Low end was better than I thought it would be but I still prefer them with a sub. Matched these with a 12 sony sub and a Sherwood stereo receiver. All in all I put the pkg together for $350 and I thought that was pretty good value.

These speakers really are great. They are not the top of the line 2000 dollar sound, but for price they are good looking and sound great. As usual Vanns sent it out in a timely matter and the item arrived before the estimated delivery date which is always awesome.

I bought these to replace some smaller surround speakers. After several years of using tiny satellite speakers for all 5 channels of surround, I upgraded my tuner and attached these speakers as the front units, running a tuner pushing 110w per channel. They sound great...very full, good bass and high end, but doesnt overwhelm the center channel. Also, just the right height to keep the sound at sitting-ear level.

Speakers affect your sound quality more than anything else. Its easy to make great-sounding, low distorting speakers IF you let them be big.
Rather than paying a premium for the engineering of great bookshelf speakers, go with plain old brute force size!
Thats the best kept secret - go with inexpensive but huge speakers. These Sony SS-F5000 are ridiculously low per pair and because of their size, they sound fantastic - full, crisp, and with very low distortion. I recommend these to anyone. If you have a small apartment - MAKE room for them. Put stuff on top, whatever. You cant have everything in a speaker - go with great sound, low cost and accept the big size. Its really a no-brainer.

I received my speakers in four days, set them up and they are as tall as a average persons Hip if you are around 55 they look nice, they give off really good sound and the bass is awesome, I think I made a really good buy for $100, I am thinking of ordering a second set just to have the height i want and stack them.

I just received my Sony ss-f5000 speakers when they were promised. They are a nice looking and sounding speaker. These speakers are great, quite the punch for the price and size! Very impressed! Im somewhat of an audiophile so I like my music sounding very crisp and these speakers deliver regardless of genre. Ive pumped rock, rap, classical, jazz, hip hop, and many other types of music and I have yet to hear any flaw in reproduction! Works great with movies as well, and gaming, great bass and very crisp treble. My only complaint is that Sony sends 24 gauge speaker wires with it! But I use all my own cables, so I didnt have problems with it.

Ipurchased these speakers for my mom for christmas. i opened them up to make sure they worked and sounded decent incase something was wrong, then id still have time to get a replacement before 1225... they sounded good at a low volume and got better and more evened out as i turned them up. i didnt get to blast them because i want to wear them in and i live in a duplex, but i can say they sounded great for under the price of one speaker from a different brand. thanks Vanns!

I bought these to use as the front speakers in my 5.1 home theater set-up, which I also use for music. What a steal! These speakers replaced a 13 year old pair of Kenwood 12 floors I had, and they are taking over perfectly. Much crisper than my old speakers, though with less of a low end as to be expected, and acceptable as I have a subwoofer now The sound is shockingly good on these speakers. The range is good, on both movies and music. I pt them through their paces with a blu-ray movie, and some different musics classical, classic rock, hip-hop, and pop and everything sounded good. I could tell they werent the most high-end of speakers, but most people would never notice. I would recommend these to anyone looking for great value. They fit well in any low to mid level home theater, or as stereo speakers although a subwoofer would help complete the sound for stereo use.

I purchased a pair of SS-F5000 speakers to replace a beat-up pair of Sony MF-515s as the rear speakers in my home theater. The MF-515s were very similar to Sonys current SS-F7000 speakers. In other words, just like these, but with a second 8-inch woofer.
I was happy with the sound of the old ones, but I wanted something smaller and cleaner-looking. I chose the SS-F5000 because they are eight inches shorter than the MF-515s, and very reasonably priced for a pair. Plus I liked how the grill covered the entire front of the speaker, for a nice clean look. I have another pair of MF-515s as my front speakers, so I decided I wanted to choose from the same brand, to try and keep the acoustics consistent.
Ive been very pleased with these new ones. I cant tell any difference in the sound quality versus the bigger pair. And I love how much more hidden they are in my living room. Im almost certainly going to get a second pair to replace my current front speakers. Big thumbs up!

I recently purchased a pair of Sony SS-F5000 floorstanding speakers from Vanns and I couldnt be happier. I needed to overhaul my old home theater to accomodate my HDMI components and I didnt have alot of money to do it with. My old front speakers were bookshelfs and they did pretty good but I wanted a fuller sound to go with my Blu-Ray player. I found these Sonys on Vanns website and was very impressed with the price and customer reviews. Shipping was free which is awesome!, and they arrived quickly. The sound from these speakers is great!!! The mids and highs are crisp and the woofers put out some impressive bass. Blu-Ray movies sound incredible coming out of these speakers. These Sony speakers are the best I have owned for what little they cost. Dont be fooled though, these speakers are tall and slim measuring around three feet by less than one foot. They stand great on hardwood and thin carpet, but might not do so well on thick carpet. The sound is incredible for the price, it has enough bass and sound to blast any small living room, even without a sub. It has great range, and is capable of playing todays top of the line surround sound games, tv, or blue-ray dvds. They look good, they sound great, and are priced great. Afterall, your front speakers are the most important in your surround sound system.

These Sony speakers were a replacement for my 150 watt Pioneer speakers that were over 22 years old. So far, I have played all types of music through them, for hours and hours. The sound and range of these speakers is excellent. Very sharp, clear, precise. They may be only a basic 3-way speaker set but they sound like a larger, more upgraded unit. Also, they are very nice quality speakers and I like too, that they are somewhat smaller than the over-sized Pioneer speakers they replaced. Anyone looking for a quality speaker, 150 watts, would be very pleased with these Sonys and their price. I based my purchasing decision on both customer reviews and price. I am very pleased with my decision. Regarding Vanns, my order was promptly processed and within a few days, my new Sony speakers arrived in a large sturdy box, in excellent condition, and within minutes, I had them set up. Simple!

My parents were reluctant to part with their 1986 Cerwin Vegas that they paid out the nose for back in the day, but I have to say these speakers sound much better - they fill the room on low volume. Striking clarity, perhaps not enough bass response for some, but I was pretty impressed with the sensitivity of the speakers to all ranges. These speakers are a great buy.

While Sony is not exactly well known for speakers, the SS-F5000s prove to be a pleasant surprise and exception. I pulled some mid-grade equipment out of storage Onkyo integrated 100wpc amp, marantz CD, Sansui tuner and wanted a bit more than my BIC Venturis as front speakers without spending any real money. I also wanted to do without my oversized sub if possible, due to space limitations. After a day or two on the net researching, I went for these SONYs on sale. All the positive reviews were right. Surprising bass , clear mids and tweeters, especially when arranged at ear level. Solid, heavy construction and attractive with or without the grill. Honestly more than I expected for anywhere near this price. Sound great, both with my 2 channel stereo setup and big screen TV. I stopped spending the big bucks on audio twenty years ago. These are not on a par with my old Dahlquist DQ10s, or magnaplanars or Klipschorns, but offer far more value, buck for buck, and thats where Im at these days. The wire connections are a bit tight and uncomfortable, and I immediately replaced the little plastic feet, but thats it for negatives. I would be surprised if you can find any more value for less than twice this price.

The speakers worked fine and set up without any problem. I dont get the full bass I was hoping for but that is due to my receiver not sending it, not a limitation of the speakers.

I was a bit skeptical when I first saw the Sony speakers advertised. The usual rule is that Americans make the best speakers while the Japanese make everything else in audio affordable and reliable.
A Google search found your company as a retailer. Given the cost consideration and the great write-up, I decided to give them a try. Actually I could not believe Sonys low price for tower speakers.
When they arrived and I set them up, I was amazed. The highs were crisp and clear and the bass strong and right up front. Build quality was excellent.
All in all a great deal. Appreciate your good service as well.

The speakers were well worth waiting for and the salesman could not be nicer .For the price the sound and wood could only be better in speakers costing far more every one who has seen and heard them could not believe what i paid so i keep the receipt taped to rear. i will buy from this great company again and try to get the same salesman again.

This is a fine set of speakers, the sound is crisp with sufficient bass for stand alone stereo. In conjunction with a surround system they make great front and or rear satellites.
They arrived at my door in excellent condition and their quality and performance is great. Truly a bargain!

Priced similarly to many smaller and less capable bookshelf speakers, these Sony towers are solid, attractive, and versatile, being usefull as part of any stereo system or any big screen tv sound delivery system.
Ive owned five different sets of good speakers over my 60 years, and can state unequivicably that these little towers are very well made.

I recently moved into a new home, from one that had built-in surround sound. As a result, I have some high end components, including an Onkyo receiver, but had no speakers other than a center. I purchased these based on their great price and other positive reviews.
These speakers have not disappointed. Great, clear sound that fills a 18x20 wood-floored room. I still need to complete my surround configuration, but these speakers were the perfect start.

These speakers are a sleek looking addition to your entertainment system and fill the room with sound! I bought these about a month ago and receive compliments about them all the time. They have a great audio range...the highs are crisp and the bass is outstanding.
They fit in great with my living room, the smooth black cabinets look wonderful next to my HDTV and black TV stand. Stop searching for speakers and buy these now!

Pros Good size for a set of floorstanding speakers. They produce very high QUALITY sound and they can go louder than you can imagine.
The price was very cheap.

General Get a 150 watt receiver hooked up to these and you will have a perfect stereo system for an excellent price - I highly recommend these speakers.

This set of speakers is very good balance of its performance and price. SONY can charge us more for this grade of speakers -p
In my home theater system, it plays very fine classical music from CD, it sounds spectacular movie from DVDBD.
I compared this one with SONYs higher grade ones SS-F6000 or SS-F7000. Because I found that differences are mostly lower frequency capability and I use it with Sub-Woofer, I decided to take SS-F5000. And I believe my decision is right.

These speakers sound pretty good. They kick out a fair amount of bass, the midrange is unbelievable, I can hear sounds that I hadnt heard from CDs that I listen to all the time. I use a 10 band equalizer which I recamend because in some rooms the tones may need some adjustments, like for instants, in my room I have a lot of wanescotting on the walls and as a rule of thumb you need to have the trebble at a much higher level when a room has a lot of wood suroundings. Also I recamend the higgher quality speaker cables.
You cant go wrong with these speakers plain and simple.

These speakers are incredibly intricate with a wide plane of sounds. Once i popped the box open i started off by playing some drum n bass by diesel boy, and to my total satisfaction, i could hear small high-range sounds that i hadnt even noticed before. That is from a song im quite familiar with. The bass kicks are felt in the chest, and they definitely hit when the powerhouse tell them to. So i didnt notice any sort of bass-lag. Ive got a sony reciever coming soon which will certainly better my experience, but already from playing them through a bookshelf system an mx-gt80 that would cut out its circuitboard every 5 seconds they dominated my expectation for the price. I am a major home entertainment buff, and i would still recommend these speakers to all types of users, as long as you can appreciate how classy they look

Ive only used these speakers for a few days but they sound awesome for surround sound and CDs. The bass could be a bit fuller and does benefit from a subwoofer, but they have very clear sound. Vanns price and delivery were top notch, and the price was unbeatable.

I just picked up four of these great speakers from Vanns to use as my main channels and surrounds for my new Onkyo TX-SR605. I upgraded from a Yamaha home theater in a box composed of satelites and two old KLH floor speakers that were being used as my mains. I kept the Yamaha subwoofer hooked up to the system to give even lower lows, but these speakers almost do not need it - they kick pretty hard for only having 8 inch woofers plus, they look great while doing it. Having full band speakers all around really improves the home theater experience and really increased the deep, rumbling bass in action sequences while still maintaining clarity in the highs. Ill eventually upgrade my rear surrounds to either the SSB3000 essentially the bookshelf version of these speakers - or the SSB1000 and my center channel to the matching Sony center channel as well in order to maintain the sound produced by these great speakers. You cant beat them for the price... they deffinately wont rumble you out of the house like a monster pair of Deffinitve speakers, but for the price, they cant be beat! THANKS VANNS!

For the price you cant beat this pair of Sony floor speakers. I use them as my front surround speakers. They sound great. Brings the action in movies to a whole new level. The low end is not bad using the 8 inch speaker. I recommend using a sub for the real low end. Also, use at least 16 gage speaker wire.
I was going to pay more for another brand but now Im glad I didnt. I am very happy. Sony rocks.

The speakers are really outstanding for this price in regards of sound and mechanical quality. Only the cheap speaker cables shouldnt be used and replaced with a real speaker cable.

the sony ss-f5000p floor speakers are a great deal.the black cabinet and matching grill hide some powerful speakers. I never liked small speakers, I felt they didnt have the bass i wanted. Running these babys for my surrounds really adds oomph to my system. I use the sony ssmf750h for my mains, An rca center channel speaker,A klh 100 watt sub with a 500 watt 5.1 system. The sound will blow the doors off. Crank it up and enjoy. The new sony ss-f5000p speakers are a must have for the price.
