True Full Range Audio
Definitive's new StudioMonitors are very compact high-performance, magnetically shielded full-range bookshelf speakers. Their non-resonant monocoque cabinets feature Definitive's elegant piano-gloss black lacquer endcap/wraparound grille cloth styling. Enclosed are 1" pure aluminum dome tweeters (the same basic tweeter used in Definitive's flagship BP3000TL) perfectly blended to Definitive's signature cast-basket high-definition bass/midrange drivers tightly coupled to planar-technology pressure-driven, side-mounted subwoofers.
Stunning Sonic Performance
The StudioMonitor's sonic performance is truly stunning, producing huge razor-sharp, three-dimensional sonic images combined with incredible detail, ruler-flat frequency response and rich, full bass. Because the StudioMonitor SM450's are true full-range speakers with extended low-frequency characteristics, they deliver superb performance both as stand-alone speakers as well as when combined with separate subwoofers (which they are designed to seamlessly blend with).

I was looking for the front LR channel speakers and i have Def Tech CLR2300 as my center channel and BP2X as surround speakers. I did not want to go for tower speakers as i wanted something which is portable easily and also can produce awesome sound. So i decided to go with book shelf speakers. Id checked at the SM350s at Best buy and it was too good. so, decided to go with the 450s. Vanns has always been the first place where i check out first when i want to buy a speaker. I got my BP2X also from Vanns only. This time i even got a better sweet deal, the call in audio sale and i grabbed the speakers immediately. It was well cheaper than the best price available in the market. And I think im still in the manufacturers break-in period, and i did try Avatar and Transformers. You must listen to these speakers. They are A.W.E.S.O.m.E..!!All Def Techs are lined up and firing now in my home theater..!! I do listen to music all the time and these speakers are perfectly what i need. This is really awesome and i would recommend Def Tech to any one and definitely Vanns as well..!! -

These are absolutely the BEST speakers I have ever owned. These things have excellent bass and go low. I havent used my sub since Ive had these! The bass doesnt get muddy, or sound like its coming from the bottom of a barrel or have an echo. Its excellent bass reproduction. Period. The highs and mid range is also excellent with these speakers. You can not go wrong with these. I liked them so much I bought another pair to use as surrounds.
The Definitive Technology Studio Monitor 450 looks great, sounds excellent, and I highly recommend them.

I have had a Onkyo 7.1 surround sounds system for about the last 4 years. While the sound is adequate, it is time to upgrade my sound. I recently purchased a 55 LED television so I needed the sound to go along. After researching for a few months, I decided to go with the Definitive Technology speakers.
I purchased the StudioMonitor 450s for my Front Right and Left speakers. I can tell you, after only a short time of listening, I know I made the right decision. These speakers produce crisp, clean sound while engulfing you with deep bass. I was surprised to hear so much bass that one would not even need a subwoofer. Although I do use a subwoofer The 450s also have a great look, and are not intrusively bulky. They are sitting in my bookcases and blend in nicely. Highly recommend these Def Techs.
