They either steal the show or they are the show
Floorstanding speakers are the stars of any home audio system. Whether they're part of a multi-channel surround sound system or stand alone as a stereo pair, they deliver critical audio performance and stunning aesthetics. And believe us, the CS226 from Boston Acoustics is no exception. This 2-way floorstanding speaker combines a single tweeter, dual woofers, and a bass-reflex enclosure design to serve up a 46Hz - 25kHz frequency response range that encompasses low, controlled bass audio as well as clear, nuanced high-frequency sounds. Pair up two single CS226 speakers and experience full, powerful front-channel audio effects in your multi-channel home theater or vibrant, detailed stereo audio in a home office or entertaining room. And the cherry finish lends an air of style and sophistication to any home-theater décor.
Of drivers and ports
While a variety of design considerations are essential to producing a loudspeaker capable of delivering powerful yet clear audio, two stand out above the rest: a speaker's drivers and its cabinet. First, while the CS226 employs a 1.0" Kortec soft-dome tweeter to serve up crystalline high-frequency audio, it turns to two 6.5" graphite-injected polymer woofers with Deep Channel Design technology to reproduce deep, full bass and mid-range audio. Second, enhancing the reproduction of controlled, efficient bass audio, the CS226 sports a bass-reflex cabinet design. By freeing the movement of air behind the speaker's drivers, the acoustically tuned bass-reflex port not only allows for greater speaker efficiency but also achieves improved bass extension and performance.
MagnaGuard
All of the components in your home theater system use electricity. They use it for power and for audio and video signal transmission. Accordingly, they all emit some amount of electromagnetic radiation. Because speakers operate using large magnets and require large amounts of power to reproduce sound, their output of electromagnetic energy can potentially interfere with the signals being used by other components. Ensuring seamless integration in to your home A/V system, the folks at Boston Acoustics have designed the CS226 with MagnaGuard magnetic shielding, protecting other A/V components from electromagnetic interference.
Going for gold
Ensuring high-conductivity and low-corrosivity for high-performance, enduring audio reproduction, the Boston Acoustics CS226 speaker uses gold-plating on its five-way binding-post inputs.
The finishing touches — cables
Go one step further in your quest to reach the pinnacle of home audio. A high-performance floorstanding speaker like the CS226 can only help your home audio system reach its full potential if it is receiving a quality, high-integrity audio signal. Audio cables — chosen specifically for the needs of your system — deliver the ability to maximize your CS226's potential. View the accessories list attached to the CS226 at Vanns.com or call a Vann's customer service representative at the 800 number at the top of this page for assistance in selecting the right set of cables.

Amazing speakers right out the box. I have not purchased Boston Acoustics in years. After having a disappointing experience with the PSB Image Series. This is a welcomed product. I have a 12 Klipsch Powered Sub Woofer and Pioneer Elite Receiver with Bi-Polar PSB S50 surrounds. Sound on the Boston Acoustics are clean and Tight. Highly recommended.

Originally purchased a Sony HTB after doing more research than with my last car. Size does matter and these speakers have enough of it to fill my medium size living room. Coupled with an entry level Yamaha receiver the ipod, CD and FM radio sound great. Well built, feels solid. Looks more expensive than the price. Not the fancy-schmancy ones that go for $1K each, however they are everything I need them for. They play loud, great bass, excellent highs. Mids are fine but not out of this world. I coupled the system with the Boston CS sub and am saving up to replace my cheap sattelites with the 26Bs. Movies and TV blow me away but even the Sony HTB did that. Where these shine is with the tunes and for that I am extremely pleased.

Awesome speaker for the price. I am using them for a stereo set-up with a HK 80W amplifier. They sound really good. Base is good for 6.5 speakers, but then there are 4 of them. The air pumping capacity is actually greater than a 10 subwoofer. I am tempted to add my subwoofer, but it would only gain me about 12 hz in base. They look really nice and well built. Wish they still had cherry, but for the price I can live with black. By the way the woofer cones are silver which is not obvious in the picture. Also, the suspension appears to be rubber not foam. They should last a lot longer. It broke my heart when the foam suspension on my Boston A200s disintegrated. They came double boxed and in good condition. The boxes were the size of small coffins. Glad the shipping was free.

I bought a pair of the Boston Acoustics CS226B speakers for use as the 2 main front speakers of my home theater system. I was replacing a pair of mid-80s era Yamaha A380 speakers. The CS226Bs sound good. The frequency response seems fairly flat and accurate though I have no test equipment to verify this. Theres no discernible distortion at high volume levels theyre connected to my Pioneer VSX-1021-K receiver. The rated frequency response is 46 to 25,000 Hz - 3 dB, though I suspect that the variance would be less than - 3 dB were the response reported to be around 80 to 20,000 Hz. In addition to good sound, they look good in my home theater setup. Theyre also a great value. Connecting them to the receiver was very simple, especially using banana plugs. Overall, Id recommend these speakers for just about any home audio setup.

The CS 226 works and sounds good with a wide variety of electronics, including lower powered and inexpensive integrated amplifiers. I personally use a Denon AVR and it seems to be doing fine.
Unfortunately this speaker does not support banana plugs for speaker wires and I found this a minor irritant.

I bought these to replace some old Yamaha AS-380s as my front speakers. Those Yamahas were decently expensive in 1988 and they were absolutely blown away by the CS226s in terms of clarity and response. They sound great in movies and music but definitely need a sub to compliment them especially for serious music listening. My only regret is that I didnt buy four right off instead of two. Going to buy another pair to round out the system.
