I had been using Bose 301 series V for over three years. I puchased the Bose name based on their smart markerting, and unique appearance. The Bose speakers are an all around good option for casual listening BUT THATS ABOUT IT. After hearing the KEF IQ30s I realized what I had been missing!
It is as if a thick veil had been removed from the music. Vocals came through with realistic presence ,and clarity. Highs splashed out onto my listening area with no exagerration or shrillness.
My favorite song to use as a reference is La Falsa Moneda, by Buika. Her raspy, seductive voice was came through so naturally, the piano and bass notes were a pleasure to experience. I felt as if she was in the room with me. Im so happy with this purchase. Thanks to Vanns, and KEF for making as affordable line of speakers accessible to people like me who have a limited budget for having higher end sound at home!

I purchased these speakers from a vendor when they were the deal of the day. They serve as the rear speakers for my 5.1 sound system driven by a Yamaha RXV 867 90wchannel with the Aperion Audio Verus Bookshelves and the Verus Forte Center Channel as my front and center units respectively.
The KEF IQ 30s are a steal. They have excellent balance across the frequency spectrum. The treble is strong, perhaps slightly overbearing but not shrill. The midrange is what has real authority. I am amazed at the efficiency of these speakers , given their size, which I could drive loud effortlessly without any noticeable distortion. Bass is decent considering the size.
The Aperion bookshelves cost twice as much and the KEFs compete with them on every level except for the soundstage. You can locate the KEF sound, as good as they are , at the boxes. The Aperions simply disappear but are not quite as authoritative.

Once again, I am a very satisfied customer for something I purchased from Vanns. I received very fast shipping and delivery, and the price was outstanding. The speakers arrived and were packaged extremely well.
I have been using the speakers for about two weeks now, and once again Kef doesnt disappoint.
My only negative, is the speakers were a little bit bigger in size than what I was expecting. That was my fault for not reviewing the size and dimensions that were provided.
Overall, for speakers in this price range, you cant go wrong at all, since Kef makes a very high quality product.

Im sure there are better speaker out there but for the price and sounds quality I would recommend these to everyone. If you purchase these speakers you wont be disappointed.

I received my pair of IQ30s about a month ago from Vanns. Let me begin with a bit of background before delving into the details.
I am an avid listener and have always had name speakers that most people would recognize - very popular, but perhaps not the best sonic performance. My brother-in-law had bought a pair of KEFs maybe 15 years ago, and the sound is phenomenal, so when I saw the great price on the IQ 30s plus free expedited shipping! I readily took the plunge. I mean, if you think about it, a pair of these costs about the same as four tickets to a concert. But these you have forever...
OrderingShipping One word Great. The speakers were packed beautifully, and they arrived in about three days. I was really shocked. So was my wife, since I hadnt told her I had bought the speakers, but thats another matter...
Build Looks This is subjective, but I love the aero shape of the speakers, and they look awesome with the grills off. They seem very well built and solid. I will say, they are actually even smaller than I expected. A nice plus, since I am trying to shrink my musical hardware footprint. You can, by the way, bi-wire or bi-amp these guys. I just ran single wires and used the included jumper.
Sound Well, this is the story, right? I should begin by saying I have a 100WCH Yamaha receiver. Not high end, but decent. Right out of the box, these things out performed my legacy speakers. However, after two or three weeks of listening, the sound on these guys really started to open up magically.
The highs are just unreal. There is absolutely no strain in these things, and it really shows in stuff like Bill Frisell where there is a lot of guitar and cymbal detail at the high end. The mids are equally outstanding, though you need the break-in period before the mids and highs really disentangle themselves fully. But when they do, the presence is great, like you are sitting in the same room as the performer. The bass really surprised me. While I think these things are rated to 45Hz or thereabouts, they are superior to the small towers that they replaced in reproducing base. Also, the bass really punches just as cleanly as the mids and highs. For someone like me, who listens to music and is unconcerned with soundtracks and war movies with house shaking bass, these things are more than adequate. I actually cannot imagine adding a bass cube at this point. No reason.
Experience I think one sign of how good these things sound is that my wife is hanging out with me all the time to listen to music, both old and new. We are both constantly amazed by the detail and nuance we had been missing with our old arrangement. And the really shocking thing? This is even evident - VERY evident - even when I am streaming music wirelessly to my receiver. iTunes and Spottify are heresy for an audiophile, I know. But even these streams sound much, much better.
So my final opinion is pretty positive. I feel like I have a real high-fidelity set of speakers that can always put a smile on my face, I feel like the price was outstanding, and the shopping experience was as good as it gets. I listen to all types of music - from country to opera to jazz to classical to pop, and in each case the KEFs have performed well. Recommended. As if you didnt figure that out already.

I have wanted a pair of KEFs with Uni-Q drivers since college. This is a pair that is within my budget and provides exactly what I need for my relatively small 12x16 living room. I knew to expect great sounding high and mid-range notes, but I am surprisingly pleased with the bass delivery. I liked the sound even when I was playing a breakbeat drum & bass cd by DJ Nostramus. These speakers exceeded my expectations.

I recently bought the kef iQ30s. They are fantastic. Although I am no speaker expert i have played piano and violin since I was about 6 so I do know good sound when I hear it. However dont think that all i listen to is classical. Ive play things ranging from Eminem to system of the down to Baroque Opera and they have excelled in each one.
What’s more is I couldnt find them cheaper at the time. The sales representative emailcalled was extremely helpful. These speakers only took 4 days to get here and where very well protected by shipping.
Defiantly consider these speakers before buying any other even if they are only half of your price range. I wish there was a “6” rating for performance. However I have only had them for a week so I cant tell you how well they do in the long term.

I purchased these speaker listed in clearance outlet section and received it within 4 days. Excellent service. I opened the package and examinate the speakers. I expected they would be a slight imperfection because they are listed in outlet section as a previous returned items. I am surprised they look brand new. I connected them to my Yamaha DSP-A1 receiver and player couple type of SACDs and CDs range from pop music to classical. The mids and highs are crisp and clear. The lows are a little bit soft when I played a drum filled Tibetan music. I would say it is sufficient enough to play all kind of music. May be need a Subwoofer to handle the low frequency when use it as a home theatre speaker. Overall it is a good bookshelf speaker with a good pricing that I got.
