Energy's attention to sound

Take Classic components were developed with Energy's principles in mind. Their "Flat-On Axis" frequency response with wide bandwidth means that speakers should reproduce the entire audio range in a uniform manner. By ensuring that no one frequency dominates any other, Energy ensures that every note is as natural as possible. Every speaker has wide and constant dispersion, so sound at all frequencies radiating from the speaker should be in an even pattern, in all directions. Energy's attention to detail brings a more natural sounding, rich listening experience to you.

Speaker placement suggestions

For left or right front channels, the distance between the speakers should be 6-8 feet at minimum for the best stereo imaging. The optimum room shape is rectangular, with the speakers along one of the shorter walls, facing the opposite side. If possible, do not place speakers against a wall or at rear of a bookshelf; corner placement is usually the worst option. Try to keep the speakers — especially rear vented models — at least two feet from the surface behind it, unless you use a vent plug. For best results mounting on a rear wall, position the speakers so they flank the main listening area and point toward the front of the room. They should be raised to a height of approximately six feet and should ideally have a space of six feet between them.

The center speaker had some crackling sounds during use that seemed to be electical interference of some type that did not appear when speaker was switched out with another speaker, so I assume it was simply defective. I was told I needed to return the entire set not just get a replacement and repurchase. I returned the set and am pondering the next move as soon as it is credited to my account.

Rating was low on this purchase due to defective speaker and that happens occaisionally to all companies. I have a older set of Energy speakers that I love hence the reorder for another room set up. The other speakers in the set sounded pretty good for the price and size. Certainly not afraid of using Energy speakers due to a single event and will continue to use this line unless a repeat of the problem with the next set.

I moved to a new apartment and didnt have room for the Klipsch B3, C1 and S1 that I had. I needed smaller speakers that wouldnt break the bank and would still have great sound like the Klipsch. I was looking at Bose only because they were small and still produced decent sound but I couldnt pull the trigger on Bose or speakers that were that expensive for being bose. After reading the reviews for the Energy Take Classic 5.1 I decided to give the 5.0 a try. I paired them with an H100 subwoofer and I must say they sound spectacular for the money and size. I would highly recommend them for a small room in an apartment.

I bought the Take Classic 5.1 speaker system with a pair of Energy C-100s to use as the front speakers and powering everything through a Harman Kardon AVR 254 which puts out a true 50 watts of power per channel and these speakers have been quite impressive with all types of media particularly with very accurate keyboard playback at all volume levels. The best sounds from some older vinyl from the sixties that will show anyone how full that format can sound. I have had these for over a year and no trouble to speak of plus the exterior finishs take minimal care to keep them looking as great as they sound. I would not hesitate to buy any speaker from the Energy line ever.

Ive only had the Take Classic 5.0 for a few weeks and have spent most of that time on low-medium volume to break them in as suggested by Energy. Recently, I cranked them up a bit to watch a Star Wars movie and was really pleasantly surprised by the theater-like performance. I must admit that I also separately purchased the Energy 8 HG Sub-woofer that comes with the 5.1 total system and it certainly enhances the overall performance. Purchasing them separately was quite cheaper than buying a complete system. All in all, Im quite satisfied.

Pros- value, clarity, wide dispersion, small and can be easily mounted
Cons- they give out at higher volumes, so-so dynamic performance, sound thin, small binding posts cant take 12 AWG.

The first thing I noticed was how clear they sounded, and I was impressed by the detail and relatively wide dispersion angle. Theyre pretty easy to mount and small enough that they can go anywhere. For moderate volumes they are very capable HT and gaming speakers, but give out when the volume is really turned up. For low volume or background music they work fine, but Im used to larger speakers and they sound somewhat thin to me, even when matched with a good subwoofer. As such, I am planning on upgrading to larger front LR for music but keeping center and surrounds. I might use the freed-up satellites for front height speakers. This system would be a good base for 7.1 just add a sub and two larger fronts e.g. cb5, c-50.

I bought these speaker about 3 weeks back, shipping was quick and I received the speakers within 4 days.
It took about 4 days for the speakers to beak in.
After that they sound great. These speakers are great for mid good for low and high freq. But for very high frequencies like if you are hearing Beethoven 9th symphony, the voices of the chorus is not very clear. These are very good for movies too, I watched Matrix 1 and 2 specifically action scenes, the sound effects were awesome.
I dont find them good for low deep sounds like for the song Streets of Philadelphia.
I have a decent size living room 25X13 and these speakers fills the room. My guess is you might need bigger speaker for rooms bigger than mine.
I have TSCs ASw8 subwoofer and Pioneer VSX919.
The only problem I have is that the connection terminal in these speakers do not support banana plug and the hole is small if you are using 12 gauge wire.
Overall I would recommend these speakers to anyone.

As I began thinking about how I would be piecing my home theater system togther, it became a bit overwhelming, especially when I heard about tower speakers, bookshelf speakers, satellites, combining different brands with various crossover levels, blah blah.

I read so many great reviews on these Energy speakers that I knew I had to have them, especially for the price!

I paired the Take Classic 5.0 system with an Energy s10.3 subwoofer, all of which runs through a Harman Kardon AVR 254 receiver. After wiring everything up, all I can say is that I wish I didnt live in an apartment complex because this system really wants to BOOM. The clarity of the sound, from the softest voices to the loudest screams, is amazing.

This really is the perfect speaker set-up for the person who wants top of the line sound without having to spend $5,000 to do so.

Each of these speakers is an exceptional piece of engineering. It provides one of the best speaker size to quality ratio in the market with elegance. I love the black polished look of the speakers.
I paired up the Take Classic 5.0 system with S10.3 sub-woofer and the outcome is mind-blowing. Note that these are the same speakers shipped with Energy 5.1 Take Classic system minus the subwoofer. With S10.3 sub-woofer the system turns out to be better than Energy Classic 5.1 in my opinion.
Watched Mission Impossible-III as my first movie with this system paired with Denon 1909 receiver and am very pleased with my purchase.
