Designed specifically for rear channel duty, this unique dipole/bipole/monopole speaker is the most adjustable on the market. Since no two rooms are alike, Energy has developed the Soundfield Management System (SFM), which allows you to easily adjust your RC-R to your room or listening material. The included wall mounting system allows for simple and secure installation in any location.

Maximum performance tips

RC-R rear channel speakers work best when placed on the side or rear walls of your listening area. These speakers have been designed with installation flexibility in mind. The side-firing mid-fill transducers, coupled with the front-firing woofer and tweeter, combine to reproduce movie soundtracks differently, depending on the speakers' location and how the Soundfield Management System is adjusted. The following are placement suggestions for your RC'R speakers:

Side position

The optimal side placement for the RC-R would be beside the listening area, a few feet behind the couch and approximately 2/3 of the wall height from the floor. The Soundfield Management System has a variety of adjustments to optimize speaker placement. Complete information is found in the owner's manual.

Rear position

The rear wall can also be used for speaker placement. The best placement is on either side of the listening area, but not in the corners. Experimentation with the Soundfield Management System will yield the ideal results.

Corner position

If you are limited to corner placement for the rear channels, a special Soundfield Management mode will improve acoustic performance. It will turn off the side-firing mid-fill driver above the control panel. The two rear channel speakers are mirror images of one another; be sure to place the control panel so that it faces the corner. This way, the corner-facing mid-driver will not produce sound, but the mid-driver which faces out into the room, will.

I was originally looking for Energy Varitas line of speakers, and bit suspicious about this product. However, I was very suprised for the performance. It has more power than you expect. The shape is very unique, I really like it. In fact, I bought 2 pairs.
Vanns will send it right away. Excellent service.

I started with the Energy RC70 Towers, then purchased the RCLCR Center. Shortly after that I bought the Energy S12.3 Sub. This was a perfect setup for me. The speakers are so clear and make you feel like you are in the movie. Whether you are watching a movie or listening to your favorite music, these speakers are fantastic. I have owned previous home theater systems and have had plenty of car audio in the past, so I can definately appreciate a great stereo. I wasnt going to purchase the Energy RCR Surrounds right away because I didnt have alot of room for them. I decided to get them because of Vanns great prices. Let me tell you what a world of differance it is with the surrounds hooked up. These speakers are awesome. You can run bipole dipole or monopole. The sound that comes out of them is so crystal clear. I purchased this entire setup from Vanns.com and I couldnt be happier. I would recommed this to anyone that wants a great mid level home theater system. Energy is a great speaker!!!!
