Audiophilic Critics, Reach For Your Thesauruses -- A New Standard Bearer Has Arrived
With the soundstage reproduction offered by the Mirage OMNISAT v2 floorstanding loudspeaker, your friends won't be wondering where you hid your speakers, they'll be wondering where you hid the band. The OMNISAT v2 delivers perfect 360-degree sound dispersion with its newly-refined, second-generation OMNIGUIDE technology. Using a perfectly-angled dispersion saucer in conjunction with 1" Pure Titanium Hybrid tweeter and a 4.5" titanium deposit driver, the OMNIGUIDE system creates an tremendously large, rich sound field; this extensive coverage allows for greater flexibility in speaker placement without compromising the quality of your sound. An innovatively-designed, internally-isolated midrange section eliminates the pipe organ effect so common to tall, thin speakers, allowing the OMNISAT v2 to reproduce amazingly low frequencies with no cabinet distortion. Four passive radiators and two active 4.5" drivers accurately reproduce frequencies all the way down to 55 Hz - something unheard of in a speaker of this kind. This guarantees tight and precise bass for stunning music reproduction. With power handling capabilities of 175 Watts and a frequency response of 55Hz to 20 kHz, this speaker supports your home theater system and your audio components in bringing that 'real life' experience home. So... whether you're into Black Sabbath or Beethoven, you should imagine your favorite music through these speakers, each instrument distinguishable amid the orchestration of the piece. If you close your eyes, you think you're actually attending a live concert. The same goes with NASCAR. It sounds like the race has been rerouted across the middle of your couch. Whether it's the mellow hum of a cello or the full-throated growl of a super-charged engine; it's sound so true, it can only be OMNIPOLAR.
How We Hear What We Hear When We Hear The Things We Hear
Research proves that in a live musical environment, approximately 30% of what we hear is direct sound while 70% is reflected from walls, ceilings, and floors and only reaches our ears a few milliseconds after the direct sound. The human brain uses direct sound for identification and to calculate location, but uses reflected sound to determine musicality and spaciousness, as well as direction.Ê If this reflected sound arrives at our ears with inadequate high frequency content, then the reproduced music is identified by the brain as artificial.Ê A speaker capable of recreating the correct direct-to-reflected ratio would therefore reproduce sound with far greater realism and faithfulness to the original instrument and environment. Guess what: that's exactly what the OMNISAT v2 floorstander delivers, using Mirage's newly-refined OMNIPOLAR technology. The effect OMNIPOLAR speakers have in a home theater system is markedly unlike traditional forward-radiating speakers. OMNIPOLAR speakers have incorporated the latest acoustical research and use walls, ceilings, and other surface areas in the room to reflect sound towards the listener. With more reflected sound than direct sound reaching the listener, a tremendously large soundstage is created that makes the listener believe the sound is virtually coming from beyond the walls. Mirage's innovative technology creates the most realistic sound you could ever imagine. With OMNIPOLAR technology, you no longer have a small "sweet spot" in which to enjoy your speakers. With Mirage, the entire room is a sweet spot.
25 Years Of Making Waves
For 30 years, Mirage has researched the ways humans perceive, capture and comprehend sound. Critics raved as Mirage, led by acclaimed audio engineer Ian Paisley and his protege Andrew Welker, delivered both trendsetting design and award-winning products. Among these was the world's first bipolar speaker, the M-1, which revolutionized the industry in 1987 by dramatically increasing sound dispersion, turning flat recordings into full-bodied, near-realistic performances. Mirage now launches a speaker so advanced, the world of sound as you know it will be completely shattered. The OMNISAT v2 series refines Mirage's unique, patent-pending Omnipolar technology to radiate sound in a full 360 degree spherical spectrum, enveloping you in a musical heaven like you have never experienced before. Pioneering research, state of the art engineering, and out-of-the-box thinking have produced a speaker so advanced, you will go quickly from admiring the design (easy enough to do) to marvelling at the nuances of the music and the complexity of the arrangement. This is sound with such unparalleled depth and feel, it could almost be live.
What's Under The Hood
The OMNISAT v2 series speakers feature some of the finest components, materials, and manufacturing techniques available today. These speakers pack a punch because they combine innovative design and state-of-the-art materials into one revolutionary speaker. They feature the latest generation of the famous Pure Titanium Hybrid (PTH) tweeter - which first made its appearance in the legendary Mirage M1si, the world's best-known Bipolar speaker. PTH tweeters earned worldwide recognition for their crystal clear and lifelike high-frequency reproduction, low distortion, and wide dispersion. The PTH tweeter dome is mated to a compliant cloth suspension, eliminating the harsh ringing effect often found with metal domes. The new Mirage 4.5 mid-bass driver is constructed with injection-molded polypropylene, impregnated with graphite, carbon, mica, then titanium coated, to provide increased strength and rigidity in a super-light cone. High-quality, extruded-aluminum enclosures, high-end crossover network and wiring, and a stable glass base round out the overall build quality of these remarkable speakers.

The Mirage OmniSat VT FS deserves to be part of the whole setup I opted for an 8 sub but there is also a mated 10 available. Heres the setup I recently purchased.
2 Mirage OmniSat VT FS mains
1 Mirage OmniSat V2 CC center channel
2 Mirage OmniSat V2 surround
1 Mirage S8 Powered Subwoofer
Im still waiting on the whole system hard to find here in AZ, but I installed the VT FSs last night. My first impressions were excellent.
I tested the speakers using a Yamaha Natural Sound amplifier with both room emulation and a special processor direct mode which eliminates all unnecessary circuitry, including the EQ and bass boost. I threw in my old Yamaha powered sub too dont have the S8 yet, for good measure, and tested with and without.
My favorite test track was Testaments First Strike is Deadly from First Strike Still Deadly. Every instrument was amazingly clear and defined. I heard nuances I had never noticed before, and also felt like the sound coming from each guitar was exceptionally true, as though I was standing in front of the actual amp cabinet Ive played many good guitar amplifiers and guitars. The soundstage was amazing.
I played a variety of genres- loved Norah Jones combined with the Jazz room emulation on my amplifier. Pair that with the omni-directional tweeter and the presence was vivid.
The towers are not meant for low bass, although they sound respectable. The bass sounds killer when mated with a sub, even a cheaper one as I used tonight. I cant wait to hear the matching Mirage sub. The key feature of all these speakers is a tweeter mounted upwards, which causes a 360 degree soundfield. You can definitely hear the difference.
The cabinets are beautiful brushed metal which thick glass bases. Spikes and rubber feet are included easily swappable.
Biggest complaint? even with the spikes, its hard to get a level and solid footing on carpet. I recently purchased another pair of stands used to hold KRK studio monitors, and on the same carpet they are much more stable. Its a tradeoff for the elegant but narrow footprint.
Ease of use I rate 5, because I literally plugged these speakers in and set my amplifier to flat and they sounded great.
Value, definite 5. I previewed other speakers costing nearly twice the price and found them less desirable.
Performance, 5. They simply sound great, and feature an innovative design.
Again, I cant wait to get the whole 6 piece system in place, but even if your budget or desire is just for the towers, you cant go wrong.

I bought several different models of Mirage speakers to build my home theater and whole-house audio system. This is the model I chose as left and right front. I can not believe how big a sound these things deliver. They are very slim, and I listened to another brand of tall, skinny aluminum speakers that are relitivly more expensive. IMHO, the other brand sounded okay at best - Nowhere near as good as these Mirage - and the Mirage are much less expensive! Along with movies, I listen to a lot of music and these are addictive to listen too. They engulf you in music rather than just hit you in the face with sound. Great Stuff!!!
