XF48: The kind of sound that wins awards!
Flagship (definition): a leader; the best or most important member of a group; a paragon. Example: The XF-48 floorstanding loudspeaker from Klipsch. It's time to rediscover the role audio plays in your home theater. The winner of awards for audio-reproduction excellence from CES Innovations and Exc!te Custom Retailer, this flagship floorstander from Klipsch's Icon X Series combines innovative Klipsch technologies to deliver an audio experience unlike any other. First, while it's titanium-diaphragm tweeter with patent-pending XT Tractrix Horn technology serves up crisp, vibrant high-frequency sound, dual woofers paired with two passive radiators reproduce controlled, nuanced bass audio that is so deep you can both hear and feel it. Finally, fueling your XF-48 audio experience are 110W of built-in power amplification. There's no need to drain power from your receiver — this speaker drives flagship audio.
Klipsch technology for pristine sound
The XF48 achieves full-range, deep bass response by employing dual high-output black fiberglass cone woofers that utilize powerful neodymium motor structures, two passive radiators to augment the speaker's bass output, and a titanium diaphragm compression driver for precision, clarity and effortless power. Featuring a sleek, black grain anodized finish with black gloss accents, the XF48 proves that you don't have to sacrifice great sound for great style.
The beauty of the Icon Series
You'll discover the XF48's performance has but one rival: style. Its beautifully crafted aluminum extruded enclosure, featuring an anodized black-grain finish and high-gloss black accents, is the direct result of Klipsch engineers' quest for perfect balance. The entire Icon Series is performance at its best, capturing the spirit of Klipsch's past and pushing them into the future. It is a brilliant presentation of how their products have evolved and remained desirable over time. After just one listen, the Icon sound will be imprinted in your consciousness forever.
Add premium audio to your premium picture
As the flagship speaker in Klipsch's new Icon Series, a six-model lineup designed to bring stunning audio to today's stunning flat-panel displays, the fully-active XF48 floorstander utilizes an all-new wide dispersion Tractrix Horn-loaded tweeter with XT technology. This proprietary design allows the XF48 to diffuse a smooth, enveloping 80° by 80° sound pattern from its extremely thin aluminum extrusion enclosure. As with all Klipsch horn-loaded technology, this version also produces more output using less energy, meaning you don't need a lot of amplifier power to drive the speaker.
Fully active floorstander
When designing the fully active Icon X Series XF48 floorstander, Klipsch engineers refused to hold back. The speaker intelligently employs dual high-output fiberglass cones woofers with powerful neodymium motor structures and two passive radiators to unleash the kind of bass you hear and feel. But what makes this flat-panel speaker remarkably superior is an all-new, patent-pending Tractrix Horn-loaded tweeter with XT technology. For over 60 years, horns have been the driving force behind Klipsch's stunningly precise sound, and this latest design moves them farther ahead by allowing the slender XF48 to deliver an extremely smooth response with constant directivity. With a powerful 110W amplifier in the speaker, you can hook the XF48 directly to a television with a variable audio output without having to go through a separate amplifier.
Don't forget the cables
If you are using a Blu-ray player, a receiver, or anything else that is capable of sending a high definition signal, don't forget to purchase the right cables. Many people dont realize what a significant difference the right cables make, and when they get their new high definition equipment home, they think the equipment itself is to blame when the sound isn't as good as it should be. This is because most components (Blu-ray, receivers, etc) don't come with cables, so people often use whatever they have around the house, or buy cheap cables, thinking "it will do." Another reason people don't buy the right cables is because trying to figure out which cables you need can be daunting, and it's hard to know where to start. Our sales representatives are there to explain all your options, so you can make the best purchase and get the most out of your speakers. Click "accessories" above to see cables that are associated with these speakers.

I was looking for a sleek speaker to go with my HT. These fit the bill perfectly. They sound fantastic and take watching movies to a new level. I use to have the cinema 6 pack from klipsh and thought they were great. I had no idea what I was missing. I bought 4 XF 48, front and surround. 3 XL 23, center and surround rear. And the XW500D sub. I am now thinking about gitting the XL 12s for the front height channels. Hook up was easy for the XF 48s. I am using speaker wire and it seems to do great. My speakers dont buzz like some other reviews had listed. Why I dont know. Then I plugged them into the surge protector for the 120V. I have no regrets. Great speaker, great look, great price. What more do could you ask for.

This speaker blew me away with a true full range sound that will satisfy most without a sub woofer for all but the largest of rooms or over the top home theaters.
These provided all the typical Klipsch attributes I have come to prize power detail and with even more refinement in the design.
The sound stage was wide and deep and still imaging remained precise.
Music was pitch perfect with a clearly refined tweeter horn that appears even a bit smoother that the traditional horns Klipsch uses.
Also these were just as dynamic as almost any other Klipsch speaker Ive heard making watching movies as exciting as any real theater experience Ive had.
I highly recommend these to any one, also give them a try full range before springing for the sub you may be pleasantly surprised as I was... I did end up with the 300D sub too though and it is a perfect match for these and provides even greater impact on the lowest of lows.

The aluminum housings are tough and attractive - perfect for our corporate environment. The built-in amplifiers enable us to use virtually any audio device we can imagine in the future. Regarding sound quality - these units flawlessly reproduce speech, but are breath-taking with music! We were not sure what to expect at this price level - We are soundly satisfied!

I purchased two of the XF48 a few weeks ago, after more than a year of checking the product. The speaker are kinda heavy, well designed. They look beautiful together with my 46 Sony HDTV, Sony BDP-S570 Blu-Ray Network AudioVideo Player and Sony STR-DN1010 AV Receiver. I also have three XL23 and a XW-500D subwoofer. Wow I feel like I was in an IMAX. I just dont like to go to the movie theatre anymore. The only thing I am missing to complete the package is a 3D TV.
The only issue with the XF48 is the buzzing noise when the system is on standby. The only way you could hear the noise is by approaching the speaker. My XW-500D sub is Wowwwwww.
If you are looking forward to buy either the XL23, XF48 or XW-500D, do not hesitate to do so. I promise you will enjoy the system. Good job Klipsch. You are the best when it comes to speaker production and thanks VANNS for the fast shipping and fair price.

My wife began redecorating the front room and banished my Pioneer CS-99A speakers along with my other 1970s stuff. I had read that the XF-48 was spousal approved. Their specs, reviews and price appeared very good, especially the price. My wife is a visual person so I made a cardboard mock-up of the XF-48 and put them in their anticipated locations. It worked I was able to acquire her and the decorators consent. Proof theyre truly spouse approved. Now how would they sound? Ordered them and within days they were delivered. Came double boxed and both in one box, almost gave the FedEx guy hernia. Spent the next day rewiring so I could use the TV surround sound systems preamp output to drive them. Another reason they appealed to me is the power amps being in the speakers I was able to use the existing home entertainment center equipment and some existing runs of RG-59 for the line level feed. Fired them up
WOW, FANTASTIC! Loveem. I was concerned the bass wouldnt compare with the Pioneer 15 woofers. Ha! Unbelievable balanced bass, the audio is better than those 5 way Pioneers. Technology wins.
My wifes remark, Well, if ya gota have speakers those are the ones to have.

I love the sound of these speakers! They are fully capable of operating without a sub which I love from a room layout point of view. Warm full stereo bass creates a rich experience. Secondly, these speakers have an optional integrated amp. The amp is tailored specifically to the speaker design and sounds a bit better in my opinion than running off of an external amp. This means the speakers can run from any line out source. I have these things hooked up to the line out of my tv directly no amp, no preamp. Seems crazy but this setup creates a *great* sound and I ditched about 50 pounds of spaghetti from behind my tv and simplified my setup. It's a beautiful thing.

The xf48 speakers have a really spectacular and amazing sound. Do not think that you are buying out-dated or old-fashioned technology. I have recently seen these speakers being sold at stores for full msrp at approx $1250 each. These speakers were a perfect choice for me, for listening to stereo music. I have a reasonably good NAD integrated amplifier, but it is only rated at 50 W per channel. So when I wanted to upgrade my system from my high-end VMPS bookshelf speakers, I wanted to spend my money on speakers, and not buy another, more powerful, amplifier. Since the xf48s have internal amps, this was the perfect solution. I have a Denon 2930CI, also from Vanns, that I am using as a CD deck fed into my NAD amp, which I am using as a pre-amp, and RCA connections from the line-out of the pre-amp directly into the line-in connection of each xf48 speaker. So I saved money by not having to buy another amp, but what about the sound? Its really, really terrific!!! You need to play around with the speaker placement. Move them away from the walls to open-out the sound, since they are a little mushy closer to the walls. Also, let the speakers play for a while before you start very critical listening. Make sure that you use a well recorded CD. Also, although the speakers can be connected to an amplifier with speaker wire, they probably give better sound with RCA connectors. Some reviewers claim that you need a sub-woofer with the xf48s. If you are listening to music, you absolutely do not need a sub-woofer. They produce plenty of base which is highly detailed. The mid-range is beautiful, strings and acoustic instruments are glorious. The only slight criticism is that the very high-end could be slightly sweeter-sounding. However, this may be an artifact of my CD deck, or my own hearing, rather than the speakers. Are the xf48s worth $2500? . Probably not, if you have the money and a powerful amp, consider some of the Mirages that Vanns are selling for an amazing price, these are certain to sound better than the xf48. But can you get better sounding speakers for this Vanns price?, absolutely not!! I have spent many hours listening to speakers and I have not heard any speakers for less than $1500 that sound as good as the xf48s. Also, the speakers are easy to live with they are not as large as most expensive floor-standing speakers, also they are fairly attractive. If you are trying to get a great sound on a limited budget the xf48 speakers are a no-brainer. Caution, they will wreck your social life...my husband and I have not gone-out for 2 weeks....we just stay at home and listen to the music.

I saw these speakers at their $400 price and jumped on them, I love my Klipsch 7.1 system and adding these speakers was a must. I have never had a problem, so this was a no brainer. I must warn you, the AUTO power onoff switch does not work, I called Klipsch and in order to increase performance they disabled the AUTO power function. Also, I recommend using the Pre Outs on your receiver to use for these speakers, Im using speaker wire and it picks up a tiny bit of interference humming when no signal is being sent to the speakers. Using pre out cable allows a lower frequency signal and a much better, shielded input for the speaker.
The speakers are an easy setup, power them up and and plug them in. I dont have a sub with my 7.1 system which technically doesnt make it 7.1 but needless to say I dont even need one, these speakers kick out a mean punch due to the internal amp. I consider myself a perfectionist when it comes to audio and these speakers sound great. The speakers add a whole new level to Blu Rays, game systems, and music. When Im playing music it sounds awesome, hitting the lows and highs with perfection, watching movies is an experience you feel - movie theatre quality in your room. For this price I highly recommend these sleek speakers that really pack a punch.

The system really sounds good. When I put the reciever in to the 7 channel enhanced mode ,the rear speakers get full power and dynamic range. Its a different experience. I was dissapointed that the speakers have a switch on them to power off the on board amps when not in use. Mine wouldnt turn off so I called Klipsch about this. They said that they decided not to put this feature on the speakers when they went to production. They said that leaving them on is the same as being in stand by mode. Im not sure about this because I can hear them hum when the room is quite, so I turn them off each night after use.All in all the sytem really rocks.

I purchased the Klipsch XF-48 speakers from Vanns at a great price. Before making the purchase I went to a well known Electronics store and listened to the speakers. They sounded great and I also liked the size and appearance of the speakers. The speakers are not small however they are not over sized and they passed the wife test. When I asked the salesman for the price of the speakers he said they were $1200 each! 3x more than my price at Vanns. I subsequently purchased the Klipsch Icon series center, rear and subwoofer speakers to complete my surround system.

I purchased those speakers from Vanns.com last couple months. At that time i was checked on internet the cheapest one is around $800. but I got from Vanns was 399 free shipping. And everything is brand new and in original box. The speaker look really nice, and the sound was perfect too. Absolute i will give 5 starts for both, Vann.com and speaker.

I have a fairly elaborate home theater set up my only short coming was the use of small bookshelf speakers for the front LR, space reasons. I decided to start looking for some slim floor standing speakers to replace the bookshelf. I found the Klipsch XF48s at my local Best Buy and immediately liked everything about them, except he price sounded great and fit my space. A few months later while in the same store they had the floor models marked at 599 ea, they were a little beat up but I bought them anyway making sure I had the salesman mark the receipt as such and that they were fully returnable within 30 days. I hooked them up and loved the sound. The next thing I did was Google the speakers and they came up at Vanns for 399 ea, brand new free shipping and no tax. I never bought from Vanns before but the reviews were good so I ordered them. They came in about 4 days I returned the floor models to Best Buy and I am now a very happy satisfied Vanns customer. The only reason I marked the ease of use a 3 is because they must be plugged into an AC outlet and I had to run some extension cords.

Amazing Floor-standing speakers. The imaging is superb and crisp. The sound-staging is wide and the XF-48s provide a wide spectrum of sound from pinpoint highs, warm mids, and thumping lows. Its truly one of the greater speakers Ive heard as I was testing these, the Martin Logan Purity and the Mirage OS3. Granted the OS3 has a larger soundstage, it loses the accuracy that the Klipsch can present. Its an absolute marvel, you cannot beat this performance at this price. Excellent buy!

THESE ARE SOME THE BEST SPEAKERS IVE EVER HEARD. MUSIC ON THE XF48s SOUND VERY VERY GOOD, WITH A GOOD RECEIVER OR SOUND CARD WITH A GOOD DA CONVERTER , YOU GET ACCURATE HIGHS, MIDRANGE AND BASS DOWN TO ABOUT 80 HERTZ or - . THE BASS IS FINE FOR MUSIC BUT LACKS A LITTLE PUNCH ON HOME THEATER. HOWEVER MATCHED WITH THE RIGHT POWER SUB, THAT CAN GET DOWN TO 25 HERTZ OR SO, THE XF48s WILL DELIVER A FULL SPECTRUM OF SOUND ON MUSIC AND HOME THEATER. I HAVE THESE MATCHED WITH KLIPSCH SYNERGY C-3, S-3, AND THE SUB-12. I COULD WRITE ANOTHER GOOD REVIEW ALONE ON THE CENTER ,SURROUNDS AND ESPECIALLY THE SUB-12 THAT REALLY GETS BELOW 30 HZ . LAST BUT NOT LEAST THEIR POWERED WITH QUALITY AMPS. I HAVE 3 MARANTZ MA-500 THX MONOBLOCKS AND A ASUS XONAR HDAV 1.3 DELUXE SOUND CARD IN A HTPC. THIS SET UP SOUNDS BETTER THAN MOST THEATERS NOT IMAX . I HEARD SPEARKERS COST OVER THE $1500 MARK, AND NOT SOUND NEARLY AS GOOD AS THESE.

These are phenomenal! These are very high quality speakers. Love the aluminum look with the gloss black accents. I was a little scared to pull the trigger and purchase these along with the XL-23s for the center and surrounds and the XW-300D for the woofer. I was scared because these are not big speakers and are narrow. But the sound is extremely clear and transparent. You should not be disappointed. These only thing, depending on your liking of deep bass, is to get one of the matching subs. The XF-48s still play pretty low but the XW-300D really enhances the experience. By the way, I play them with an Onkyo TX-NR3000B receiver. Also provided by Vanns!
