Compact size, amazing sound

The ProMonitor 800's compact size makes its big sound and clear acoustics dually impressive. The ProMonitor 800 is conveniently sized but packs an even bigger punch. The ProMonitor 1000 is molded from Definitive's proprietary non-resonant PolyStone mineral-filled polymer compound, resulting in a non-resonant character that is superior to wood. In addition, the unique curved shape of the cabinet is precisely configured with the nonparallel top and bottom to minimize internal standing waves and cabinet wall resonance to further assure sonic purity. What this means to the layman is the ProMonitor 800 is designed to produce fantastic sound quality. In addition, the integrated design of ProCinema acoustics creates compatible voicing between speakers, results in a surprisingly large soundstage and a rich, impressively consistent listening experience.

Linkwitz-Riley crossover

The ProMonitor 800's, along with other Definitive speakers, utilize what is known as the Linkwitz-Riley crossover. Audiophiles may understand this term, but what does this mean to those without in-depth technical knowledge of speaker construction and sound distribution? A Linkwitz-Riley crossover design features a 24-decibel per octave roll-off constructed by combining two-second order 12-decibel per octave Butterworth low-pass filters. This is extremely beneficial in speaker (subwoofers especially) output. It results in in-phase outputs that roll-off quickly and minimize lobing, such as might occur where two speaker drivers on either side of a crossover frequency both still output signals over a range of frequencies close to the crossover frequency. In a nutshell Linkwitz-Riley works to ensure you get the best audio possible, and that's what counts.

I had been looking for a pair of surround speakers for my home theater system that would match the Dali Ikon 2 speakers I am currently using for fronts. My problem was that I had a sizespace limitation which meant I could not fit the matching Dali surrounds. After a lot of searching, reading reviews and some auditioning, I decided upon these Definitive Technology ProMonitor 800s. Once I received them, I immediately broke them in for roughly 20-30 hours and then mounted them on the wall using ProMount 80s. They almost disappear into the background and sonically they are a great match with my fronts. Great little speaker, great price, loved Vanns customer service.

I bought two of these speakers to complete a 5.1 surround system as the rear surrounds. These little speakers sound great and the balanced low colored sound from them match well with my front stage. In my configuration, I set the rear surrounds to large eventhough these a smaller speakers. They are quit able to handle full frequency for movies at moderate to loud volumes. I am very satisfied with the Definitive Technology Speakers ProMonitor 800 and If I didnt already have front speakers, I would consider Definitive Technology for all of them.

I purchased a set of these for surrounds on my system and on a whim set them up as my fronts to see how they sound there. These little guys will take lots of power and the sound is very clean and pure, you could definitely use these as fronts as long as you had a sub to compensate for the lack of low frequency response from the smaller speakers. Amazing sound for such a small package!

I purchased the Pro Cinema 800 speakers. They were easy to install with the Pro Cinema mounts and they sound great with music or with a Blu Ray DVD. I had a old set of Bose speakers before but these Pro Cinema 800s put them to shame.

I bought the promonitor 800 speakers from vanns and am very pleased with my purchase. I orginally bought them to be an addition to my home thaeter system. I wanted to add them to the rear speakers to have four in the back [ because of the layout of my room] And they sound so good I am using them in place of the rear speakers that came with my home theater system!!!!!!!!!!!. What comes in small packages? Thats right, DYNAMITE! These are the best small speakers I have heard. I listened to them at a pro AV demo room hooked to a high end Denon Receiver before purchasing them from Vanns. Let me tell you that I was astonished. I had the sales person set only the ProMonitor 800 speakers to on and play a movie with lots of big sound effects. I kept giving the thumbs up crank the volume gesture and had to put my ear next to other big speakers in the room to make sure all that big sound was coming only from these little jewels. Had it not been for the short wires thet connected them to the system the ProMonitors would have walked off the shelf. Keep that in mind. I am using the ones I purchased as side surround speakers suspended from the ceiling so I wont have that problem. I saved money, no tax or shipping.
