Compact. Versatile. Room-filling.
The Mirage OS3-Sat is sold as a single speaker simply because its combination of a 1" tweeter, 4.5" midrange driver, and Mirage's patented Omnipolar® technology make it one of the most versatile speakers available. Choose to use the OS3-Sat as part of a front- or rear-channel speaker pair (using the included brackets to mount to the wall or ceiling), or as a single center channel speaker, and experience room-filling, 360° audio from a compact loudspeaker enclosure. Thanks to the OS3-Sat's magnetic shielding, it's safe to place this speaker near other A/V components without the risk of damage or interference.
Better sound, from every component
Sure, in the end, a speaker's driver cone produces the audio you listen to, but in order to produce stunning, full, clear audio, a cone has to have a fine-tuned support system. Take for example the surround, or the component that helps keep the cone centered, allowing for freedom of motion. Thanks to Mirage's patented Ribbed Elliptical Surround technology, the OS3-Sat is capable of reproducing midrange and low-frequency audio characterized by increased excursion, reduced distortion, and improved efficiency. The Elliptical Surround encompasses the cone, allowing it to move identically in both directions, resulting in near zero distortion. And while conventional designs are often plagued with surround dimpling, which causes them to radiate in and out of phase and distort at all listening levels, Mirage's design isn't influenced by dimpling at all. Further, Ribbed Elliptical Surrounds allow for a larger cone surface, resulting in greater efficiency. This design also lets the cone achieve greater peak-to-peak movement, thus allowing it to travel more than double the distance of other cones. These attributes enable Mirage drivers to move incredible amounts of air, ultimately allowing them to play lower frequencies with greater bass extension and fidelity. Mirage's OS3-Sat offers better sound, from every component.
Omnipolar® technology offers lifelike sound
The advanced sound-reproduction technology featured on Mirage's OS3-FS floorstander can be summed up in one word — Omnipolar. Research shows that in live musical environments, about 30% of what a person hears is direct sound, while the remaining 70% consists of reflected sound. The brain uses direct sound for identification and localization, and uses reflected sound to determine musicality and spaciousness. Unfortunately, the front-firing driver design used in most loudspeakers produces the opposite ratio: 70% direct sound to 30% reflected sound. Omnipolar technology, on the other hand, restores the balance. The OS3-Sat's patented Omniguide module employs two deflectors to create a 360° soundscape. While the first deflector is placed above the tweeter, the second deflector houses the tweeter and is placed above the midrange driver. This specific arrangement of drivers and reflectors makes it possible for any Mirage speaker featuring Omnipolar technology to permeate your listening area with enveloping, high-fidelity sound.
A quick note: A Stock status
While B Stock products are those that Vann's has received from a third party, often at low liquidation prices, and may have minor damage to their packaging, A Stock products like this Mirage speaker product are brand new, in-the-box speakers that have been received directly from the manufacturer and carry a full manufacturer warranty.

Really amazing the sound that comes out of these little speakers. OHHH! Soundstage is awesome!

I purchased my first pair of these speakers about six months ago to replace my Bose AM5 Series one speakers in my home theater system. I was originally going to purchase the Mirage OC3 speakers because I had heard them at a Best Buy and was impressed with their sound stage. I live in a small ranch style house with a small living room and an open floor design to the kitchen. I tend to go back and forth between the two rooms so I like the omnipolar concept that gives me a sweetspot anywhere between these two rooms and dont have a lot of space to place speakers. I came accross the OM series on Mirages website and saw that they were available at Vanns for less than what I was going to pay for the OC3s, so I purchased them. Although they were a little larger than I thought, I fell in love as soon as I hooked them up. When they were finished breaking in, thats when they really strutted their stuff. I ended up picking up another pair of these bad boys as open box items and replaced my other Bose AM5 Series !! for my surrond back speakers. Bottom line These speakers do what Bose does direct reflecting sound with much better building quality and materials. No paper cones in these guys. When I complete my home theater system, these will be wall mounted. They are music to my eyes and ears. They are well worth it comes to cost and benefit.

After being pointed in the right direction by the guys over at AVS forum, I decided to pull the trigger on a couple of Mirage OMD5s for surround duty. I returned a pair of bipoledipole Polk FXi A6 after hearing these in action. Like the speaker advertises, the sound is pretty much 180 degrees around the driver. It sounds as good directly to the left or right as the front with discrete, non-directions sound. I would not advise using these as main LR speakers, but they do an outstanding job as surround speakers. Pretty good value compared to dipole and bipole speakers on the market. Especially if you buy Vanns B-stock or catch these on sale.
Highly recommended for unusually shaped and problematic rooms for hanging surrounds.

They do sound really good but they blend in with the other speakers and dont stand out like the JBLS which are what surrounds are suppose to do. After years of satisfaction with a 5.1 set of Mirages Omnisats coupled with a Polk PSW404, Ive begun building a home theatre based around the Epson 3010 3D projector . Lacking the budget to discard my beloved Omnisats, I decided to retire them from their old duty as SACD music array driven by a venerable Sony DA5ES and use them as the HT array. I purchased 5 Mirage OMD-5s along with an Energy VSW 10 to replace them in their Super Audio CD music role. I could not be happier with my choice. The OMD-5s sound absolutely amazing. I was already sold on Mirages omnipolar technology based on my experience with their Omnisats. What I didnt expect was the magnitude of improvement the OMD-5s bring to the table. Although I am only about 36 hours into the break-in period, I have difficulty breaking away from listening sessions. I am discovering nuances in my recordings Ive never before noticed. No doubt some of this is due to the 10 Hz they add to the low end, but that mere difference in specifications hardly seems a plausable explanation for the increase in musicality. I hear an entire segment of mid-bass I was previously missing. As with my Omnisats, the OMD-5s soundstage is huge. What it might lack in pinpoint imaging is more than compensated for by the real world practicality of being able to sit virtually anywhere in the room. As regards build quality, the OMD-5s are 8 pounds of awsome! As great as the Omnisats were, the OMD series easily trumps them with their gorgeous lacquered burled maple finish. Although the piano black finish would have made for a better match with the Energy sub, I couldnt resist. I just hope that down the road the OMD-15s will be available in matching maple as I dream of upgrading my music array to include 3 of them up front. Bottom line Especially given their current price, I highly recommend the OMD-5s. Needless to say, if you can afford the step up to the OMD-15s or the OMD-28s for that matter, I would certainly go that route. The good news, as I can attest, is that from a timbre standpoint, all the Mirage speakers featuring the Omnipolar technology blend well, allowing an easy upgrade path. One more thing. This has been my first experience with Vanns and I couldnt be happier with their service.

What got me interested in this speaker is the OMNIPOLAR technology. It Claim that it can create 360 surround sound like no other. From other perfessional review OMNIPOLAR technology will create a sound stage that is bigger then the room is in. With Vanns great pricing on the Omd 5. I have to try it. Speaker arrived in a week. First impression of the speaker is the Grand Gloss Finish that usually find in very expensive funiture. after waiting for a week i cant wait to test it. I am using a outlaw rr2150 receiver. The moment it turn on i can feel the different in soundstage. It is much wider and bigger and the vocal stay focus in the center as it should. Performance is great after hours of listening. Is great cause is a Bookshelf speaker. Why i said that because of the lack of base in the music but is can be fulfill with a subwoofer. If your main interest is the Vocal Mid range. The speaker have a excellent Med range compare to the same price range speaker. For movie i try with a couple action movie. It work fine but missing some punch and hit that my Klipsch tower speaker can provide. Maybe is the subwoofer reason again. For couple Hundreds dollar bookshelf speaker you cant go wrong with the OMD5. I am very impress with the soundstage that i am thinking of getting the OMD28. With the OMD28 I bet it can fulfill the base that i miss in the Music and Movie. Anyway i will recommand this speaker to who is into music. And Movie lover should get a subwoofer for it and it will do fine.

The speakers do not go as low as I hoped. Obviously something is sacrificed for the closed small design of the speaker but I was hoping for a little bit more lower end output. However they sound nice otherwise, slightly brighter than I was guessing but this is not a problem. Would be very nice surrounds. Still debating if I would be happy with these as mains plus sub, which is what I was originally planning. Looks 9 out of 10 Sound 7 out of 10

This speaker is almost the equivalent, and in some ways exceeds my vintage Ohm Walsh 2s which are more multi-layered in the bass and midbass in classical or movie orchestral passages and have a more lasting decay of lower midrange notes but that is not fair due to the size difference. Very good at reproducing multiple instruments but a bit congested sometimes with too many instruments due to the size but doing better than many highly regarded speakers twice its size or even more with great focus and little, if any, smear with any music. Dynamic reproduction is particularly surprising, this is never a flat sounding speaker. It does everything very well but I feel it excels even more with Jazz and drums. Drums have great slam and impact on this modest sized speaker but trumpets, guitars and voices on the same music track do not get drowned out in the process. For the midbass or lower midrange in movie and orchestral passages it would be best to find a subwoofer that does not roll off too quickly, maybe a Polk subwoofer which are highly regarded for their price. I am not saying its bass is lacking for its size or even bigger, its just not great at instruments in the lower registers that decay in volume, I only notice it because of my Ohm Walsh 2s. Overall, a great modest sized speaker with a very high WAF factor, particularly if ordered in rosewood, not the black or mashed banana color or whatever that is.

Ian Paisley and Andrew Welker are the chief designers at Mirage and together they discovered the true nature of sound propagation that 70 of the sound we hear is reflected and that 30 is direct. The Omnipolar design of the OMD5 comes as close as is possible today to achieving the goal of reproducing that same sound. All of the Mirage line utilizes that concept but the OMD5 is the best individual design with the very best components. The 5.5 woofer reaches down to 60hz - 3db so that a subwoofer will only need to add really low frequency sounds. At $300-340 a pair these speakers are a great deal and Vanns offers excellent customer service.

Absolute gems at the price. They dont sound great out of the box, but break them in for 60 hours and they really begin to shine. They are as perfect as you are going to get in terms of value and sound for that odd shaped room - such as my open plan great room-cum dining area-cum kitchen. The maple finish is stunning - very high WAF factor! Very happy with purchase and service from Vanns...

I have an addiction to bookshelf speakers . over the last few years i have searched for ,and purchased, many different brands of these in the hopes of achieving the optimum sound. This task was not easy,or cheap, and seemed kinda hopeless at times. my first pair were boston vr50s and while the gave an overall outstanding presence with decent bass the accuracy of them made many of my less than perfect cds unlistenable. then came polk ati4s, and while more forgiving they lacked an openness the bostons had. Klipsch b30s came next and i loved their efficiency but they lacked warmth. i already have a nanosat set in my surround system so when the omd5s went on sale i took the chance. WOW!!!! the openness and overall presence is outstanding! Even the radio sounds like a live performance. These small, beautiful, pieces of art blew me away! Im 30 hours into the break in and love them. I am using them in my stereo only system with a Yamaha rx-797 and they give this receiver a whole new sound. They are warm, detailed, with an open sound stage that is just plain musical!! highly recommended !!!!

Being a Mirage fan and using them for my 7.2 system comprised of a Mirage Uni-theater LR and Center with 4 Nanosat satellites for surrounds and Mirage and Yamaha sub-woofers, I decided to expand my system a bit. ,and chose 2 OMD5 speakers to add.
Since Im retired and wait for the best deals, I really couldnt let a special sale by Vanns go by.
Maybe youre like me I think the Maple looked like cork or driftwood by the pictures, but I ordered then anyway.
I WAS WRONG.... These speakers are not only amazing in appearance They are like a highly polished piece of ceramic that the images cannot capture but in sound Quality and Clarity and Performance. I was so impressed that when I noticed a few days later that Vanns was having another sale on the OMDC 1 in Maple, I ordered it along with Black stands for the OMD5 speakers. All the OMD speakers are still breaking-in and each day they sound better and I will run my final Audyssey set-up soon and they will be part of my 10.2 system.
OMD5 LR Fronts, OMDC1 Center, Nanosats Surrounds, Uni-Theater LR Front High and Secondary Center, Mirage and Yamaha Sub-woofers. Powered BY a Onkyo HT-RC270.
Waiting for a extra special sale on Mirage sub-woofers to replace the Yamaha.
Thanks Vanns and Mirage.

I still have 2 OS2 speakers that I am using for the surrounds. The OMD5 speakers sound a little fuller and smoother than the OS2s to me so it was a worthwhile upgrade to what was already pretty good sound. If Vanns will just oblige me and put them back on sale for the price that I got before, I would like to buy 2 more and go for the matching set all the way around.

I originally got a set of nanosats from a brick store and was disappointed with the lack of low mid-range tones. Even with a subwoofer, there seemed to be a frequency gap. While I loved the omnipolar design for sound dispersion, the speakers just didn't suit my ears. I also listened to the OS3s at the same store and they had better bass response. When I started looking around for reviews and other speakers, I found the OMD5s at Vanns. Larger woofer, same design, lower frequencies, and a GREAT price. The speakers came in quickly and boxed nicely. I did learn that the sound quality of these speakers changes dramatically in the first 100 or so hours. Definitely break them in before really making an opinion about them. They sound great!! I was at first very hesitant to replace my old Klipsh KG2s, but the OMD5s have great bottom sound and have even better highs then the KG2s. The only knock that I've come up with on the speakers is that the mounting hardware isn't the best or most adaptable however, at the price these things can NOT be beat!

I am updating my old Infinity home theater speaker set with this one. Currently I am running two OMD-5 satellites as front speakers but as soon as I can massage my wife into the idea of me spending more money on speakers the OMD-15s will be on the way. omd-28 if I'm really lucky...better start being extra nice now!! I picked up 2 OMD-5s and the OMD-C1 and had to send one back DOA. Vanns customer service is doing an excellent job of rectifying that issue so I'm confident that I will be running at 100 here really soon. I am still in the burn in period so I haven't had a chance to fully enjoy them but I can say that the sound of these speakers even at low volume has been exceptional. Extremely crisp and clear. The overall quality of the sound of my system has been improved by this purchase. I am throughly happy with the decision. The OMD-5s are a little light on the low end but that will be resolved with the omd-15 purchase. In the interim my 10 velodyne sub is doing a good job of filing in the gap. And its really not a huge gap to fill. On the fence about these speakers...look at the average being received on all these reviews and do the math..these speakers won't let you down. Also the staff at Vanns know their products and were really helpful in answering any question that I had. Happy Shopping.

I bought these on a whim because the reviews were all 4s and 5s. What a serendipitous move. I used these to replace M & K high end studio monitors which cost $2400.00 new. I then sold them for $1500.00 and used these instead in a system using Martin Logan theatre center and Speakercraft Starlet 9s for L & R and Speakercraft AIM8s for rear surrounds. The OMD5s used as side surrounds. What a difference. Fuller sound in an acoustically difficult 24ft by 37ft Great room. Now whereever You are you here it all. I have since bought a second pair to replace the rear surrounds and will move the AIM8s to High wide fronts with my Top of the line Onkyo receiver and B&K amps. Amazingly, the timbre match is incredible after running Audessey. You will not be disappointed with these speakers even in a large room as they like power and the more the better. I cant say enough about Vanns either. They have been easy and pleasant and helpful to deal with. Rare online in todays electronics market.

I purchased 4 OMD 5s for surrounds, 2 OMD 15s for front mains, and a C1 center to replace my 10 year old M&K 750 THX system. I loved my M&K system but due to our limitations with wall mounting siderear surround speakers I stumbled upon this line in a search for new surrounds that would offer me better installation options, needless to say I took the plunge and purchased an entirely new and matching system. I researched and agonized for months before pulling the trigger and all I can say is that I couldnt be happier!
Botttom line... once these speakers went through the 100 hour recommended break-in they blew away my old system. The sound isnt anything special right out of the boxes, they really do need to break in for 100 hours before they fully come to life, and once they do they will bring a huge smile to your face. Yes, omnipolar sound is a little different than the direct and diploar sounds that I had been used to but the sound stage they produce is amazing to say the least. I used the MCACC auto set-up on my Pioneer and everything just sounds perfect, but I cant wait until they are hooked up to the new Yamaha flagship receiver that will be my next purchase. Movies are significantly more dynamic sounding than my M&Ks and music sounds so much more musical. All sound is much more dispersed and deep with no localization. You cant find a better deal for the quality I dare you to try!
The build and finish on these babies is top notch, not to mention the high WIFE APPROVAL FACTOR, they look and feel high furniture grade I bought the gloss piano black. Make sure to set your receiver to 6 ohms in order to power them properly my Pioneer is pushing them at 150 watts x 7 at 6 ohms with no problems. Corner mounting is not advised per the manufacturer but I had no choice for my rearback speakers and they still sound great there.
If youve been holding off on these because you cant demo them live, or for whatever reason all I can say is PULL THE TRIGGER AND DO IT!. My leap of faith in purchasing these un-heard has turned out to be the best home theater purchase Ive ever made. VANNs customer service was great with answering my pre-purchase questions thanks Ryan! and they were delivered to me in 3-4 days well packaged and undamaged.

The Omni technology is great, it distribute sounds in a 360 degree. I love the sound in general, I was thinking of buying the B&W 685 and I have to said that I am glad Ive went with these. They are semi-smaller and more elegant, and the maple finishes is beautiful. I think I will get a Subwoofer, but for now I think the sound is just perfect and the bass is just right. I have a somewhat high end 9.2 surround system and after 50 hours of quiet play to break them in properly and minor adjustments to my system these sound very natural with all styles of music. Im a bit of an adjustment freak as I will tweek it until it sounds optimal. They have a superior dynamic range and remain very clear when pushed to thier limits. On a low end system they may not sound real good because they cannot be properly adjusted and, lets face it, low end systems create low end sound. They out preform British and German speakers of a much higher price. The MSR price is very good but the Vanns price is exquisite.

First let me say I have a terrible room. Weirdly reflective and the way I am forced to set up my system doesnt help either. I have had a few different speaker setups in here and have not been happy at all. Some of them quite expensive. *Monitor Audio* Nothing sounded right. Poor imaging and soundstage despite spending thousands of dollars. Very distressing. I sold the Monitor Audio speakers and while researching something else to try, bought a pair of OMD5s for rear surround. Mostly because of reviews and Vanns incredible price. Hooked them up as rightleft and Wow! Great! Clear dynamic sound and the harshness is gone! Omnipolar uses my horrible acoustics to an advantage! I immediately bought a pair of OMD15s and a C1 center and I am very happy. Whats also impressive is the look and finish of these speakers. pictures dont begin to do these justice. The finish is absolutely gorgeous. The only downside is the low bass response is a tad light but I have a pair of great DIY Dayton subs so this is a moot point.

At the current closeout price, the OMD5s are a great value. The sound is perhaps not quite as chunky as that from some other conventional loudspeakers, the sound stage is extraordinary. Along with the price, a look and size that your wife will appreciate, and the easy wall mounting, this is a deal thats hard to pass up.

I originally purchased two omd5s and a sub to go in my 144 foot den. I was looking for speakers no bigger than a loaf of bread that could still deliver some serious pop. Living in the Dallas area, I had the opportunity to listen to a number of speakers in the various upscale showrooms around town. he Mirage Nanosets are remarkable for their size but didnt really meet my needs. The closest competitors I found were the smallest Energy Bookshelf, sorry Im not much for model numbers and the smallest Tannoy Revolution. Both lived up to their billing as Mighty Mites and could rattle a small room. The Energies were not particularly good looking. They called the finish ash black but it struck me more as Industrial Black. The Tannoys on the other hand came in a very handsome and unusual Expresso. But they were at a serious price disadvantage. I went with the Mirages I hadnt heard based on comparing the specs to their little brothers the Nanosets. About midway through the breakin period there was a change of plan. What a great way to get 5.1 at a super bargain. I decided it was time to expand my OMD inventory. There are now four of them in the 306 foot family room and none in the den. Im feeling like this may have been a little bit of a reach. While the sound is rich and beautifully defined, it seems like a labor to get to volume levels that discourage conversation. My Denon says that Im often within 10 Db of redline. However, in conversation with the Mirage Rep, it came out that I was still auditioning center speakers and that once I had one, this would change my outlook. You cant touch these speakers for the money. Just dont ask too much of them.

Knowledgeable salesperson reviewed a drawing of my listening room for speaker suggestions. Except for the color variation, the OMD5 speakers are great, especially in a difficult kitchen placement situation on counter under cabinets. The bass seems to be amplified by the cabinets and fills out the sound nicely throughout the kitchen. One speaker is pretty clear blond maple with maybe 4 visible burls aka small knots, a nice look. The other speaker is the same blond maple, but looks like it has leprosy, theres so many knots. Luckily, its tucked back on the countertop.

I purchased a pair of these speakers to replace my Mirage Nanosats as front mains. I love my nanosat 5.1 package, but was becoming frustrated with them in terms of music playback. When I got the OMD5s all of my problems were solved. It took about 18 hours of constant play for them to open up and really come alive. I also did the recommended 100 hr break-in, and really fell in love with them. They are highly detailed and play back music and movies in a way that the Nanosats never could. They look beautiful mounted on my wall, and present a surreal 3D soundstage as a stereo pair. Mated with my little 75watt Nanosub which is very well placed in the corner, they cover the full frequency spectrum and really fill the room. I purchased the Mirage OMDC1 at the same time as these speakers and also run 2 nanosats as rear surrounds which is a job they do very adequately. All of my speakers are powered by a Pioneer 1019ah-k av reciever that powers 125watts per channel at 8ohms. Ive been very happy with all components performance. 125Watts at 8ohms seems to do a nice job, all things considered. I do recommend purchasing these speakers. Make sure to have a subwoofer, but other than that enjoy them.

I have the klipsch rf-62 which are great. But these are better in my opinion. I tested the omnipolar design by walking all the around the speaker and you can really tell the difference compared to other speakers. I also own def-tech bipolars and I am a firm mirage convertee. The mirage just sound better and look so much better than the def techs. The mirages look like art. In comparison, i bought the klipsch wb-14s and the mirages look significantly better than the wb-14s. The mirages sound great. I have done sound tests for several people that are speaker people and for people that are not. All listeners were shocked that at the time, I was only playing two speakers for them-not five or six speakers. The sound is truly enveloping and provide more depth than my def tech bipolars. The speakers provide a peripheral sound that others do not and really do mimic a live performance. Ultimately I am a Mirage fan for life and will likely only buy mirage from now on. I would pay full retail for these, but the price vanns is offering is ridiculousamazing. I cant wait until I am no longer a grad student and can afford some even better omd-15s or omd-28s.

I decided to take a minimalist approach to upgrading my sound system. In that, the new speakers had to be small for easy transportability but with a large sound image. My extensive research led me to Mirage OMD5s. At Vanns sale price I bought 6 in maple color which saved me a ton of money - approx. $1700. Currently theyre going through the 100 hours of manufacture recommended break-in procedure. I did 4 sound tests 1. Avatar, 2. Matrix, 3. Jurassic Park, & 4. Hilary StaggHarp music. I have to say the sound is amazing...the omnipolar technology must be heard to be believed. I liked it enough that I bought the OMD-C1center channel, also in maple, to complete the 7.1 channel system. In closing, for those of you thatre deciding to buy these, go ahead - you wont regret it. Besides, you dont want to miss out on the price.

I just got a pair of rosewood OMD-5s a few weeks ago and they are beautiful, the craftmanship is amazing. Im a woodworker and I cant believe how they did the veneer so well. They really look like they are made from a solid block of wood. The black grills are nice but I think the speakers look much better without them.
I am very pleased with the overall experience and the sound quality is very good really true for low-mids to highs. You definately need a subwoofer, which Im sure is the case with any speaker of this size.
For a complete music listening experience they do not fill the spetrum and lack the lows between mid-bass and sub, but in a surround sound set up or for dedicated rear speakers they are excellent.

I have researched for two months for which speakers to install into my 7.1 home theater system in my master bedroom. I originally decided to go with the Nanosat 5.1 system by itself due to financial limitations at the time. I have a Pioneer VSX-1020-K running the system in my 12 X 16 bedroom with cathedral ceilings. The Nanosat excelled beyond what I thought those little guys could do! I was so happy! The regualr Naonsat satellite acting as my center channel was not as bad as people have been saying in their reviews. I had this set-up up and running for a month. Then, I came across some extra cash and decided to go a little crazy and installed two OMD-5s as my new left and rights, and the OMD-C1 as my new center channel. Then, took two of the Nanosats and installed them as my 6th and 7th speakers to create a 7.1 system... Turned it on, played some smooth jazz and WOW!!! ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!! I still can not get over how full, rich and clear this system has become! I played with the channel gains, set my receivers cross-over to 80hz, and again... WOW!!! EVEN BETTER!!! I am almost feeling guilty at the price I paid for these gems! I am so overwhelmed as to how my bedroom sounds right now. This is pure musical heaven... a real treat to listen to. I am listening to a more expansive genre of music now as everything sounds so incredible! For the love of God, you HAVE TO get these puppies before they are sold out! You will be in shock and awe with the results.
As far as Vanns customer service goes... these guys are even better than the speakers themselves! Randy was so polite, informative and caring of my needs while remaining so professional the entire phone call. They were SO precise with every detail of my order, even calling Mirage for me to confirm the exact 38 16 size of the rear threaded inserts to match-up an appropriate wall-mount capable of various angles as I have needed. Then, to top it off, they OVERNIGHTED my speakers to ensure I got them by the weekend for my install!!! From the time I ordered the set over the phone, the speakers went from their Kentucky based warehouse to my doorstep in just 19 hours!!! Simply remarkable. And the pricing they gave me for such wonderful products is a review on its own. That being said, I am a Vanns customer for life! I will be ordering another 5-7 OMD-5s shortly for my living room application. THANK YOU VANNS!!!

I purchased a pair of Mirage OMD5 with the Maple finish.
On the plus side, they were extremely well made and looked beautiful. I recommended a pair to my mother, who purchased them in black and was thrilled with their appearance. Vanns prices were exceptionally good.
Its risky to purchase speakers over the internet without first hearing them. I felt comfortable doing so because Id heard the Mirage Sat-3s at a local big box store and liked them very much. A customer representative at Vanns told me that the OMD5s sounded similar to the Sat-3s, but with deeper bass and overall smoother response. Unfortunately, when I received them and listened, I was disappointed. There seemed to be a veil over the music - little sense of presence. I heard the same effect on two systems in my house Sony CD playerDenon & Yamaha receivers and also on my mothers system Sony CD playerYamaha receiver. My 85 year old mother was pleased enough with the sound, but Ive sent mine back for refund.
My listening is mostly jazz and classical music, with some classic rock. Im not an audiophile, but I do have some fine middle-cost AV equipment in my home. Older speakers from Boston Acoustics, Cambridge Soundworks, and even Scott sound better to my ears. I bought these speakers for my bedroom or kitchen, so I was not looking for high-end sound, but these Mirages just didnt do it for me. Ive replaced them with the less expensive and lower end Energy CB-5s - maybe not as smooth, but definitely with more presence.

Bought two OMDs to replace the front stereo pair in a Nanosat system. I liked the Nanos and had them for four years but wanted to address the one weakness they had a tendency to sound just a little thin on some music.
The OMDs have done just that and more. At about twice the size of the tiny Nanos the mid bass of the OMDs sound noticiably fuller and richer. I have set the cross-over on my Mirage L-100 subwoofer to 80 HZ from 110 HZ with the older Nanos and the transition from mid to lower bass sounds much more seamless.
The spatial qualities of the Nanos have not only been retained by the OMDs but have been enhanced as well. In stereo only listening the soundstage is broad and room filling with the music often sounding like it is independent of the speakers.
In all respects the OMDs are a significant upgrade over the already excellent Nanos.
Just a few words on Vanns. I bought the OMDs on clearance at a nice discount. Vanns listed them as having comestic blemishes yet the speakers seemed brand new. I had to look very carefully to see some small scratches on the BACKs of the speakers.
And the photos do not do the maple finish justice. The speakers sound great and they look great.
Now Im thinking of upgrading my rear and center speakers as well as the subwoofer.. I listen mostly to music in two channel stereo but an all OMD surround system fro movies would be just sensational.
If I do that, it will be from Vanns where you can get excellent bargains.

The omd-5 has after 10 hours of burn in done everything that I expected and more. The sound is near 3D, very wide soundstage, and imaging will only be found to be better in speakers costing three to four times more, and that would be a close better. I was planning on getting the omd-15 as mains. Well for those wondering if the omd-5 is capable as a main, heck yeah they are. Add a good sub along with the omd c1, and a couple of omd-5s in the rear and I promise you your system will compete with others three to four times in price and really beyond, this is just a reference. Get them while you can. In fact I am about to order my omd-5 rears as soon as I am done typing here. Oh, I have a very large familykitchen area that are easily filled by these spectacular speakers. They make a great addition with a sound field that truly immerses the listen in the music or movie. In addition to my OMD 15 and OMD 5 speakers I run 2 Mirage subs and a Mirage center channel. The OMD 5s rate pretty high on the wife approval scale too. If you are looking for a great system without getting a nosebleed from the price you have to check these out. Anmd of course you have to by them form Vanns, trust me you wont be disappointed.

I chose these to use in my livingsitting room for a few reasons
-they look nice enough to leave out. I didnt want two boxes.
-the wide sound stage
-the price!
I ordered the maple finish, which is not nearly as birds-eyed as the photos indicate but is real wood and the finish is perfect.
I am powering these with a small TA2050 based Class T amp. These amps sound amazing but require an efficient speaker to do so. The Mirage speakers are, apparently, a perfect match.
Build quality seems to be top-notch and the real wood veneer is expertly fitted. Youll have to look very, very hard to see any seams. They are solidly built with a noticeable heft.
The speakers have a nice, solid bottom end, clear mid and a well matched high-end. They do not sound muddy or overly bright.
While they may be perfect as the rear channels in a surround system they also make the perfect speakers for a tidy and very musical two channel system.

I am really enjoying these speakers, as I am using 4 omd5s, and the omd-c1 in a living room 5.1 set-up, all in the beautiful glossy maple finish. I love how these speakers blend into my home furnishings and surroundings, and of course, the sound is the most important aspect. I am also using an older Mirage Frx-s10 subwoofer in this system, but hope to upgrade soon. After giving some burn in time approx. 7O hrs. I used Audyssey to eq my set-up, and although surprised at some of the settings, I was amazed at how real everything sounded. Using some of my source recordings, there appeared to be no frequencies missing, none over bright, and all seemed to be transparent. Although db levels are lower now, and having to increase volume level, these speakers will play louder than I will ever need, and still remain very clear. Yes, I have tested this, and the omd5s can really rock. Listening to Spirit, Twelve Dreams, I was amazed at how seamless my system sounds. Putting on some Grateful Dead, live Hollywood 10 06 71, it was the best sound I had ever heard for this recording. The soundstage was awesome and truly impressive, and I could not help but feel like I was there!!! If the omds can produce the music sound reproduction I love, which they do, I know they will shine in my home theatre venue as well.I am using a Onkyo HT-RC180,110 watt receiver to power the omd5s. Downstairs, I have a Yamaha flagship receiver, and using Mirage OM series speakers in a 5.2 set-up, which I have loved for years. Although each system sounds vastly different, I am thoroughly enjoying the omd5s. What had concerned me the most, by reading a number of reviews, was if I would experience ear fatigue. I was so pleasantly surprised, that at any volume level, and I do prefer to really pump it out, this has not been the case at all. To me, and my ears, all is very warm, and inviting. Although I am in my mid fifties, I am still able to discern very high frequency sounds extremely well, which can often produce ear fatigue for me in many speakers I have auditioned over the years. For me, and my set-up, I am very pleased with the omd5s, and loving it. Also, Vanns service was beautiful.

I just got these speakers today, so this is without any break-in time, but the OMD5s are really good sounding speakers. I have worked my way through MANY speakers, and I can say that the OMD5s midrange and highs are great. Its a little lacking in bass if you plan on using it as main speakers in a stereo setup, but paired with a subwoofer would be excellent. So far, the OMD seems to really excell in acoustic music, with really lifelike vocals. Guitars and piano really sound realistic too. They present an excellent soundstage that makes you feel like youre there. Im driving them with a Cambridge Audio Azur 340A integrated amp, I it seems like the Mirage speakers would really open up with a littel more power.
For the price, and with Vanns excellent service, these are a steal!! I think I might just pick up 2 more while they are still available.

When I saw the OMD5s on sale at $169, after doing a double-take on the price I decided to buy two more along wth a Mirage Prestige S8 subwoofer for $249 again after doing a double-take on the price for my bedroom . I had done a lot of research and auditioning of speakers before buying my OMD5s... I cannot tell you how incredible these little speakers are and what a steal they are at these prices. The photo of these speakers does not do it justice.
The birdseye maple is drop dead gorgeous.

As far as the omnipolar feature of the speakers go, I cannot really tell a difference in technology from where I have placed the speakers, again this is an issue of placement. I have the KEF 3005 SE speakers and compared to the OMD5, I say they are about the same, with a more pronounced bass output from the omd5 as compared to the KEF. They are surprisingly light and really not as huge as the dimensions lead you to believe. They are easily wall mountable.

Now after over 50 hours, I can't contain my enthusiasm for the lifelike sound I am hearing. I can't wait till they are fully broken in! I am an audiophile and regularly use such high-end speakers as Induction Dynamics and Revel. While these are not cut from the same cloth, they give superlative performance at an awesome price. I received my pair of OMD-5 speakers yesterday. I am extremely impressed with the build quality and performance. I have not completed the breakin period 100 hours recommended by Mirage, but they have already began to open up more after 12 hours of non stop use. These speakers can take alot of power and with their low sensitivity and low impedance, you need a good amp to drive them properly. I have a new Emotiva XPA-5 which puts out 300 watts per channel x 5 into 4 ohms which is nearly twice the required power, but the benefits at lower volumes is worth it. I did not know a bookshelf size speakers could perform this well. I have to the turn the volume up higher than with my old Infinity towers, but that is because of the bigger power requirements. I plan on buying a pair of Mirage towers to handle the lower frequencies along with the OMD-C1.
Secondly, these speakers are made for home theater use. The sound stage is huge and the speakers seem bigger than they actually are. These are definitely audiophile level speakers. The sound seems to be in the air in front or above the speakers. Its hard to describe, but the sound is harder to localize which is a good thing for movies.
Lastly, this is the type of deal I have been looking for. Do some research and you will discover that these speakers were several times more expensive than they are now and all of the reviews from AV mags are positive. Get these speakers while you can. You can just use these as an entire 5.1 sound setup also because they perform that good. You will need a sub for the lowest frequencies.

I currently have a nice system HT system with Usher bookshelfves for fronts and a nice and hefty center from the same company. Also, I have an upgraded internet direct bookshelf pair for surrounds. I came across the Mirage OMD line from looking around on the web wanting to add additional surround speakers as well as front height or wides to take advantage of my new Onkyo receivers 9.2 capable processing. The price was a little more than I wanted to spend even at the nice Vanns price. However, I soon discovered that these speakers retailed at what they were for a reason. These are not conventional speakers that I or most people are used to.
Upon unpacking, the gorgeous look of glossy rosewood in such beautiful shapely contour took my breath away. For their small size, they are solidly built. Of course the tweeter assembly is the most innovative and novel aspect about these speakers on first glance. After about 24hrs of burn-in I put these through via the Isotek Burn-in CD, I sat down late at night for a brief getting -o-know-the -speaker session. The volume was not at the level I normally like to listen but the whole family were cozy and sound asleep. I dropped in a CD containing some nice vocal pieces. At first, I was a bit disoriented as the presentation was just odd and not what I expected due to prior conditioning. Soon, when instruments and voices started to gel together but still separate and distinct entities, they had my attention. Nothing really shout out at me but everythign was there with a pleasant, unfatiguing and smooth presentation--like a breath of fresh evening breeze. The beautiful vocals started to float like 3-D in a pool of instruments, cleanly and transparently rendered. For the first time, I feel the person singing was a lot taller than I noticed before and firmly anchored on center stage compared to my prior experience with this piece. The other interesting aspect is that the sweet spot became a large sweet area--unbelievably huge! You could be sitting, standing, walking around and pretty much the sound remained pleasant and musical through out unlike the feeling of having themusic collapse on you as you leave your conventional, siny sweet spot. This is the magic of the Omniguide in action. This is one speaker that made me want to turn the music up and up. Because it was late, I went back to bed, thinking what it would be like once theyre fully burned-in and ready to play some real music at volume that would do them justice. I am being patient and resisting further sneak peaks until they are ready to perform. More to come.

Avoid if

These speakers are both an excellent set as stand-alone bookshelf speakers or to complete your OMD setup to 5.1 or 5.0. I am positive that these are the absolute best speakers on the market, dollar for dollar. The imaging is spectacular and the 5.1 or 5.0 setup adds more dynamics than an already rich 2.1 or 2.0 setup with the floor standing OMD15s.

Bought 2 for my surrounds first, hoping my wife would like them Shes been VERY speaker-resistant!. Surprisingly, when she saw them the first words out of her mouth were, Why didnt you buy 4! I was gratified by both how good they sounded and how good they looked.
I replaced some JBL studio monitors with the 2nd pair I ordered the 512 speakers put out just as much sound as the 6 two ways that they replaced. Couldnt be happier, especially since my better half is pleased.
I ordered the maple-burl whatever finish and they look more like rose-colored marble sculptures than speakers.
I never thought Id be able to get a 5.1 system past the arbiter of taste, but these little babies have saved the day!
Highly recommended, both for sound and looks.

I purchased a pair sound unheard from Vanns and couldnt be happier. Although I am still breaking them in at relatively low volume levels Mirage suggests 50 hours in the manual, I am already enjoying these speakers immensely, as they seem to open up detail in the music in a way I have not experienced before.
Build quality and the black piano gloss finish are exceptional, and I would highly recommend a Mirage subwoofer to go with these I am using the Prestige S8 and Im very happy with that, too.
I knew that these speakers were amazing when I started popping open CDs and listening to music through the OMDs just to hear new aspects of the music I had not heard before!
Service from Vanns is excellent great packing materials in addition to the manufacturers box also, thanks, Vanns, for making these so affordable.

i just got this awesome speakers few days ago. i was not suprised of its performance. mirage has been a good speaker maker for a long time. im using this for rearsat, together with elite sc27, jbl Lc2, L890 and 12 sub. its been a while and finally found the right speaker to complete the line up. the price was very low speacially your in a budget. a 149.00 each, shipped! is unbeatable. it replaces my polk tsi-200, sold 300.00 pair. polk or a direct reflecting speaker may overpower the front speakers, its obvious that the sound comes from the speaker and not on the wall or environmental effect. the omnipolar made the difference. you can hear the surround effect from no where. like watching in the movie theater. this speaker is very useful speacially i leave in an apartment with odd shape room. this speaker will fill the room with sweet spot is everywhere. just make sure you have a decent av reciever like pioneer elite or its class. this is the best time to bid on mirage om design. prices are dropped, and dont blame yourself not getting this since this is a discontinued product.

I bought the OMD-5 on July 16th, and received them on July 22nd. The build quality is excellent with the piano finish looking a lot more expensive than the price I paid for the pair. I kind of like the alien look of the speakers. One negative of the piano finish is the speakers are finger print magnets.
I am currently running them by themselves on an old Sony receiver both with and without a sub to isolate how they sound by themselves before I add them as rear surrounds in my 5.1 setup.
I am almost done with the recommended burn in time. I am not sure if it is the fact my ears are getting used to the sound of them or if there is truth to burning in speakers though I suspect a little of both.
My impressions of these speakers are they give a very full sound for two small speakers. At first the speakers sounded very bright but after several hours of playing, they started to just sound bright. I feel these speakers would make a solid 2.1 setup for music listening especially if you are looking for a non floor standing setup.
I highly recommend this product for both the price and the sound.
Side note the price dropped on July 31st and saved on Vanns 15 day price match. Im very happy with Vanns service. This is my first purchase with them and hope to make more.

Rarely does this much quality come at this price. For beauty and build quality, which must be seen in person rather than judged by photos, this speaker has no competition at this price point. As for sound, the speaker provides a wide, open sound stage and yet adequate detail. I would take issue with reviewers who wax poetic about the speakers disappearing into the room, for that description is just not accurate. Any listener with their eyes closed will be able to identify the positions of the speakers fairly easily. Having said that, the speaker design does allow for a unique listening experience. Perhaps the best description for the effect of the design is that each speaker serves as a virtual surround system, with the majority of the sound firing forward, but with noticeable ambient sound diffusing omnidirectionally. In short, the sound, while not entirely realistic, succeeds in belying the small size of the speakers and evading the problems inherent in traditional designs, which tend to sound box-enclosed by comparison and even less realistic.
Thanks must go to Vanns for their prices and service.

If you need a compact speaker that produces great sound at a reasonable price you need to keep these in mind.

Purchased the OMD 5 as rear surrounds to go with my OMD15s and OMDc1 center speakers. These little guys are unbeleivable speakers! I dont think you could find a better speaker for the price Vanns has these at! The omnipolar design is perfect for home theatre. They almost disappear in the room. They obviously are seemless with the other OMD series, but I believe these would work well with other speakers also. Used in a small main speaker application these would also be ideal. The low end on the 5s are amazing for their size, and with a sub they will fill most small to med. rooms with ease. Build quality is exceptional! The finish is beautiful. Ive had more people comment on how fantastic they look than ANY speaker Ive owned. No worries on the Wife Acceptance Factor here.... If I could rate the value a 10 I would! You will NOT be dissappointed with these, or any of the OMD line, in my opinion.

The Mirage OMD-5 speakers are simply amazing. They are beautiful to behold in their gloss rosewood finish. Yes, they are a small speaker but are phenomenal for their size. The sound stage of these speakers are totally 3-D. You are immersed in sound. The instrument and voice definitions are so natural. If you want colored or bright tonality- this is not the speakers for you. if you are into uncolored natural sounding speakers, these are incredible to hear. They need a good amp or receiver source too though. These would be great for a total small satellite system or for rear or sidewall speakers because of their dimensionality. Very recommended!!!! I purchased these a few months ago at close-out pricing. Having owned the OMD series 28s, C2 and 15s, I felt comfortable that these would be nice bookshelf or standmounted speakers. I purchase these along with the OMD-C1 for a bedroom theater. These speakers give up little to their big brothers in terms of sounstage depth, width and height. Their limitation is obviously in the bass region and should be paired with a good subwoofer for that below 80 hertz experience. Clarity and extension are a strength. There is no sense of edge and they provide a very smooth sound that does not lack of detail. The OMD-5s are easily driven by a receivers amp but will benefit from a good power amp for that last bit of detail and imaging. I recommend these highly to anyone with space limitations or the desire for a smaller speaker that delivers the goods! Set-up for this omnipolar design is key so placement must be taken into consideration and experimentation is advised.

I had been looking for a set of small bookshelf sized speakers to provide music in a large family room with a 2 channel system.
My requirements were the following
1. Must be attractive to look at.
2. Must adequately perform on their own without the help of a subwoofer.
3. Must provide a wide sound stage.
4. Must have versatile placement options.
I had never owned a Mirage product before but the OMD-5s appeared to fit the bill and was I ever correct.
Build
The build quality is excellent. The glossy rosewood finish is very distinguished and the cabinet is gracefully curved. The binding posts are of good quality and the grills snap firmly into place.
Sound
I have never been a fan of metal domed tweeters because my ears fatigue easily but I was pleased with their presentation. Not once did i feel like needed a break during listening sessions. All types of music at various volumes were pleasing to the ear.
Immediately I was happy with the upper frequencies but I couldnt help but feel something was missing. I realize the OMD-5 is a 5-12 speaker in a small sealed cabinet but to me I didnt feel like it was reaching down to its specd 60Hz rating. That all changed when I fed them some power. These little guys really craved volume which was not something I anticipated at all. The more power they were given the more they shined. Later I concluded that I was used to hearing mid-bass humps in small ported speaker designs which gave the illusion of bass. These speakers were not designed like that and are much more politely refined. Although in my application these will be mated with a compact subwoofer, I could live happily without one.
Sound Stage
I really like the omnipolar design. It fit my needs to the tee. You will not get a specific sweet spot as you do with more traditional speakers. They really do flood the room with sound without smearing the music or losing control. I could stand up from my listening position and not feel like the speaker had been veiled.
Ease of placement
With the omnipolar design and supplied mounting bracket there are several options for placement. I simply had them placed on end tables and was satisfied later when connected to my main rig in the basement I was much more calculated in their positioning but honestly they were pretty forgiving. They are also ideal for wall mounting which is something I may end up doing. Because of the omniguide design & woofer placement they can be mounted upside down, high up on the wall. Traditional thought would tell you to be careful not to mount them to close to side walls since they radiate sound in a wide pattern but I did not find them to be exceptionally particular in that respect.
Conclusion
i had specific goals when shopping for a speaker pair and the Mirage OMD-5s met every one of them. I only listen to 2-channel systems so I did not audition them as a surround set like many potential buyers probably would. Having said that i think my demands were much higher then would be in a typical home theater setup. If these were going to be the front speakers in my main system I can think of several other speakers I would buy instead but at a substantial price increase. For the price no matter what the application, these speakers can hold there own with ease. Highly recommended.

The OMD-5 speakers are the first speaker by Mirage, as well as the the first omnipolar speakers I have heard.
The omnipolar design is very effective in creating a spacious sound field, which helps a great deal when sitting outside of the traditional sweet spot created by monopole speakers. This design also seems to lift the soundstage slighty above the speaker as compared to traditional speakers. This isnt necessarily a bad thing, just different.
The OMD-5 is a very capable speaker for its small size. While they dont produce powerful bass, and require the use of a subwoofer, that have a controlled low end with good extension for such a small speaker. The midrange has very good clarity, and the treble is clean and detailed, although it can come off a tiny bit bright of neutral at times.
Omnipolar speakers are sensitve to placement, and I find getting the OMD-5 away from boundaries helps, and also tames the slight brightness, which was most noticeable to me when using these speakers nearfield on my desktop.
Overall, these are very nice speakers, and a bargain at the current pricing. While I cant say I am leaving the world of traditional monopole speakers, I do think the omnipolar design has its strengths, and can work very well in the right setting.
Bottom line...For someone looking for a quality small speaker, I am confident to recommend the OMD-5.

I just received these the 5.1 Mirage OMD set and they look absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, as I am in the military, I am about to move to the West Coast and will then be immediately deploying overseas. As a result, all I had time to do for now was open the boxes, visually inspect them and then put them back in the box for shipping out West, where they will have to wait until I return from overseas to put them through the motions. As a result I cannot comment on their sound quality right now, which is what matters most -- however, they have received very favorable profesional reviews, so there should not be any surprises. As far as aesthetics and build quality go, these are phenomenal speakers. They are very attractive speakers, solidly built, quality gold plated binding posts and beautiful high gloss rosewood veneer. Personally I think they look much better with the grills off. A friend of mine was over and he also praised their looks. Vanns customer service was great. The speakers arrived promptly after ordering, were well packaged, and without any visual signs of damage. When I am able I will put them through the motions and write an addendum to this review. Highly recommended.

I purchased these OMD-5 satellites to replace a pair of Mirage Omnisat V2 speakers - or rather move them to the rears of my home theater setup. My favorable impression of the Omniguide sound profile of the V2 caused me to buy a pair of OMD-5 sight unseen and unheard when I saw it available for sale.
The OMD-5s lustrous, glossy Rosewood is a more premium finish than the flat metallic V2 housing. The OMD-5 also has a larger cabinet and what look like larger, more robust drivers.
The immediate and obvious upgrade in sound quality from the V2 was more than I expected, especially since they are both satellite models and I was already quite happy with the V2. The OMD-5 sound is definitely more rich and full-bodied than the V2.
Now I have the Mirage OMD-5 up front and Omnisat V2 in the rear of my home theater, and am very happy I took the plunge on these nice-looking, great-sounding speakers.

I also have bought a Mirage-OMNI S10 10 sub-woofer on eBay for $335 and put them together as 5.1 home theater system in my huge 22x18 family room. They sound amazing and I am so impressed with the sound quality and precision. The speakers in rosewood color look and feel very rich and elegant. I have set it up using a 16 guage speaker wires to a Sony-DN1000 AV receiver and also connected my Sony Blu-ray player to it HDMI cable. In my opinion, this system sounds either same or better than those expensive Floor-standing speakers. These OMD speakers 60Hz-20kHz and the medium heavy 41 lb OMNI S10 sub-woofer 21Hz-120Hz have excellent frequency responses and so I setup my cross-over at 80Hz, which gets me great theater, life-like performance.
The customer service provided by Vanns.com before and after the purchase is excellent and I strongly recommend to buy any items on the site.

Its hard to get a sense of how substantial these are from the picture - Id compare it to a small bookshelf speaker! It is 3 or 4 times the size of my Mirage Nanosats! The sound is clear and imaging is great. I have them paired with the OMDC1 and a Omni S10 Subwoofer with my old nanosats as surrounds, I couldnt be happier with my purchase especially for the sale price!

I have these for a few weeks now and love them. They replaced a Polk 5.1 set up that consisted of floorstanding fronts with matched center and rears and a sub with dual 10 woofer. The whole set had dual 6.5 drivers and 1 titanium tweeters with a 2 mid.
These OMDs present a much larger soundstage and are a bit more musical. I am thrilled with these speakers. Listen to Dave Matthews Live at Radio City Music Hall in DTS-HD and you will be converted, It sounds like you are in the 2nd row.

I purchased this speakers and believe this, this speakers are wonderful and out-performed the Bose cubes thai I had. Its performance was so great that I had to sell my Bose pair at Ebay.
Presently. I am using these Omnisats with my RC70 speakers by Energy and the blend is just superb., smooth and crystal clear. Im highly satisfied with the performance and will recommend these Omnisat speakers to any Audiophiles that wants to spend little to get quality sound reproduction , especially during this hard times.

I bought these to use as surround speakers with my OMD-15 floor standing speakers, but now use them as the foundation of my traveling system. I spend quite a bit of time traveling for work and have a transportable system that has a small subwoofer, satellites and a 3 channel 50 watt per channel amplifier. I replaced the satellites with the OMD5 speakers and they sound incredible.
After breaking them in, and taking some time to find the best position in the room, I began to play some high quality recordings through my Marantz DVD player. I started with the new Beatles Love DVD-audio as I have recently auditioned several high-end speakers $10k and up, listening to the song Because. The soundstage created by these speakers is truly amazing, with wonderful imaging. Close your eyes and you can see where each musician was located during recording. They have a laidback openness that is created by the 360 degree sound dispersion that is addictive. When I listen to speakers without this feature, they sound to forward, or aggressive.
My friend, who spent $2,500 on his bookshelves said, Every time I listen to these I get upset at how good they sound, for what you paid. I cant recommend these highly enough. Make sure you have good speaker cables, and they will really shine. Couple them with a subwoofer and you have an amazing full range system.
Good listening!
