I owned an all-in-one system and when the recieverdvd player died, I started looking around for a new system. Did a lot of research and going to stores looking at Polk, Boston Acoustic, Klipsch, and many others. Then saw this system rated highly on C-Net. Checked it out and looked like a better buy than anything else I was looking at. Purchased it and within 5 days I had it at the house. Hookup was very simple and the sound it puts out was very noticeably different even to my wife. Probably the best electronics purchase Ive made in the last five years. If youre looking for speakers at a good price, these are definitely worth looking at.

Where do I begin? Well, first off thank you Vanns.com for another smooth transaction! This was my 3rd big purchase from Vanns, and not a problem to report. The items always arrive quickly and without damage to either the box or the equipment inside. So thanks again!
Ok, now for the fun stuff. I purchased a Pioneer 1015 Receiver from Vanns and needed a good set of speakers to abuse. Based primarily from user reviews on this site, and the known quality of HK products, I decided to go with the HKTS14 package. I have read in more than one review that these speakers were very good for the movie experience but lacked in the music department. I dont know what kind of receiver everyone else is using, but I can turn the dial to plus 5 and it sounds phenomenal! The reciever volume goes from negative 75 to positive 12. I can turn it all the way up to positive 12 and it is still crystal clear, but your ears cant take very much of that volume! Keep in mind that I am a 25 year old male, and listen to music that demands to be played LOUD! The Subwoofer can handle just about anything I throw at it. From the punchy bass found in Rock music, to the boomy bass found in Rap, it delivers Clean Powerful Bass that rumbles throughout the entire house! The Movie experience is equally impressive. You know your system is powerful when the kids are jumping out of their seats while watching The Incredibles DVD, Or when your wife screams due to a startling scene in King Kong. Those are the times when you smile and say to yourself Oh Yeah, thats good stuff!
Bottom line I just bought a house and didnt have the money of an Audiophile, but honestly even if I did, I wouldnt change a thing!

I have this system hooked up to a Harman Kardon receiver capable of 7.1 and I opted to purchase two additional HKTS 4 speakers to turn it into a full 7.1 setup. Overall, the sound field is well balanced, the system handles surround sound very well except in instances where a lot of low end bass mixes with the sub level output making it difficult to pinpoint sound directions because the sub is overly loud. This is to be expected due to the sat-sub combination, the sub is handling not just subwoofer level output but bass that would otherwise be handled by full range speakers. For the money, you get an extremely powerful system that can pretty much handle any room size when hooked up to the appropriate receiver. My order from VANNS.com arrived on time and the no tax, free shipping completely knocked the competition out.

This is my first review of any kind, so please read and bare with me.
First off, I am 48, my wife is some years younger. women do not want their ages exposed
My wife and I wanted a Home Theatre system in our new den. approx 17' x 17'. We are using a Sony STRV997 receiver, but needed a speaker system. We didn't want to spend a lot of money on a speaker system, since we have other financial obligations coming up around the house. With that in mind I set out to the major electronics stores in our area, only to be confused with what I heard and saw. Between the background noise and the poor help we recieved from the store staff, we could not pick out a clear cut choice. We saw several Bose systems, but the prices were too much to handle. They sound wonderful, and we saw many different systems for 2-3x more, but we didn't budge on our price bracket. We are not high tech people, only want to hear good quality audio for the system. I did some research on cnet.com and other online guides. My next door neighbor was also a big help in explaining what all the fine print was about ohms, impedance, etc.... Although we did not see or hear the HKTS14 system, we went with our gut feeling.
My neighbor and I wired up the receiver to the system and were immediately impressed with the performance of the HKTS14. The styling of the system is very neat. The 12' subwoofer is big, but it fits on the side of my wall unit and sounds just right, whether watching Independance Day, or listening to an Eagles CD, or watching a WHO dvd. The sound is crisp and clear. My Baseball games sound like I am in the ballpark. My neighbor who swears by his BW speakers, even admitted to me that I made a great choice. To me, that told me alot.
We wanted to wait awhile before making this review, as sometimes problems arise. After 4 months of operation we can happily say we are very happy with the HKTS14. We are enjoying watching TV again. That also says alot .
We chose Vanns because they had it in stock, had a great price, and free shipping. I expected the shipping to take it's time, and was told it would be about a week. The HKTS14 was ordered on a Sunday evening, and the package arrived at my door on Friday morning. That was fast and easy. We will be repeat customers in no time.

I was nervous about spending so much money on 5.1 speakers and then having to buy 2 more to make it 7.1 with out hearing them in action. I paired them up with a Onkyo 720 receiver. But after it was all set up i was so happy to hear how great it sounded. Stereo all channels is awsome for cd. The dolby digital ex is awsome for dvd sound
If you are going to buy 7.1 system these are great speakers for the money

Unbelievable. That is the best adjective I can provide as it relates to the asthetics and sound that comes from this understated set of speakers. To start with, I received the speakers along with the AVR630 in 5 business days. It could of been quicker, but I was out of town on business days 3 and 4, so I can only credit them for a 5 day delivery which is something to brag about. One of the most surprising parts of the system is set up. Out of the box, simple instructions with color coded wire and speaker mounts included! After an easy set up, the first thing apparent is the might of the 200W sub. It has already generated complaints from several neighbors. The HK AVR630 also purchased from Vanns driving sound to the system sure helps, but the bass is awesome. Deep, clear, room shaking effects. The satellites are well constructed and modern looking. They will blend well with any flat panel or plasma monitor. The sound spitting from the speakers when watching movies delivers nuances you never new existed. They also effectively handle music. You do not need towers to have good sound. You will not be settling by purchasing this product. It performs with much higher priced systems. I took four months to make my choice. The little bit extra I paid over the street price is well worth the peace of mind by having the manufacturer's warranty. I highly recommend HK products purchased from Vann's. The next purchase I will make will be for the speaker stands for the sats, when they get in stock. The security of having a name like Vann's back my purchase is comforting. I will definitely be the first stop for my future electronics purchases.

After doing an indepth research on waht speaker system to buy that goes with my new Yamaha RX-V2400 receiver, I settled for Harman Kardon HKTS14. These speakers are the best in the market in terms of quality for value paid. Since I wanted to build a 7-1 channel system, I also decided to add HKS4 to make the HKTS14 7.1
Speaker system Info I am satisfied beyond my expectations. HKTS14 produces the best sound quality that I have heard so far within its price range and among other leading brands. Each speaker can handle 120W with ease. Even the minutest of the sounds are revealed with great accuracy and detail.
Sub What can I say about this one powerful sub perhaps the tallest in the market. The sub is about 12 inches or more. The sub itself has a host of features.
Installation Installing my HKTS14 was abreeze. All I needed was to have ample time and size 8 screws to install these 6 speakers to the wall. HK also offers speaker stands for this in case you are interested.
Performance The first movie I watched was Gladiator. It was one incredible experience watching it. My friends loved it. The HKTS14 handled with great ease the power my receiver was throwing at it. From the sharp-sounding arrow piercing into skin sounds to the tiger roaring in the Colliseum, every little detail was finely presented through HKTS14. As for music, I played Braveheart soundtracks and was impressed with that these little speakers in my living room could do - turn it into 'Munich Concernt Hall'
Now comes the best part- WHERE TO BUY?
After deciding on the speaker system, I did an extensive research on which website to buy. I check on various online sources but the best deal I could get was at Vanns.com. I was surprised to see that Vanns, being an authorized dealer for Harman Kardon, could compete with those anonymous, phone-less, lowest price offering websites in terms of offering the best price. What I was looking for, I found it here at VANNS. Best price-value* not necessarily the lowest, authorized dealer, No taxes, No shipping, and above all my shipment arrived two days earlier than expected.
*My definition of best price-value is determined based on factors such as the dealer being an authorized dealer and the elimination of shipping costs.
I have not found any other website that offered such a great deal.
Secured Shopping? YES. Trust me. One day 1, I bought these HKTS14 and day 2 I came back to order a DVD player, the VANNS security system didnt let me complete the transaction as it forecasted some fraud activity. I called the customer service at VANNS, and the person was very helpful and resolved the issue in less than 3 minutes.
I hope this review was helpful. When I read other reviews before buying it, I wasnt sure if I was to rely on such reviews. But, having experienced such great shopping here, I am writing this to help you people out there to do some wise and secured shopping.

I purchased the Harman kardon HKTS-14 surround sound speaker package from VANN'S. They are wonderfull!!!! They sound great listeng to music or using them in surround sound for a DVD experience you will love. The sub adds great bass. VANN'S is a great company. I compared prices on the internet as well at my local electronic store. VANN'S won hand down. The service is fantastic. Shipping is really great, very fast and informative. VANN'S has earnd my trust and future electronic purchases.

We bought this system sight-unseen, based solely on the recommendation of the contractor pre-wiring our new house for Surround Sound. I only knew what it looked like from website pictures, and was pleasantly surprised when the system arrived. The speakers are very sleek looking and will 'blend' more than white or black. The sub is a little large, but we can work around that. It's simple design tends to fade into the background - until you hear the bass!
The sound quality is fantastic. And the deal we got at Vann's was excellent. The contractor wanted to sell us the Speaker System for more than I spent on the speakers and DPR 1001 receiver together at Vanns! Shipping was a breeze. Everything arrived one day later than originally estimated, but I think that was a UPS issue. It worked out OK, though because my husband was home to receive the shipment. And before I got home from work it was all set up.
Temporarily we have the speakers on shelves in the entertainment center, but intend to wall-mount them in the new house. The fact that wall-brackets were included was a nice bonus.
I would recommend this system to anyone. We looked at several other brands and are VERY pleased with this purchase. I will definitely go with HK again in the future when or if it's ever time to replace these.

I recently bought hkts14 system from vanns. I decided to buy from vanns after the previous online seller that I had ordered from kept me waiting for more than 2 weeks and still did not ship the product. With Vanns, delivery was a breeze. I ordered the item on Monday and it arrived on Friday early morning. This was with the free delivery option. So, I am very impressed with their prompt shipping.
With the hkts14 sytem, I really had no idea what to expect before I got it. The speaker set looks gorgeous. In fact, the subwoofer has attractive styling and looks good too despite its large size. The cables supplied are of good quality and long enough to be used in largest of spaces. The wall mounting brackets are easy to use and look good too. I have hooked up the hkts 14 speakers to my HK AVR 230 receiver and the overall system sounds great. The sub delivers more than enough bass at less than quarter of its potential volume level. The sound is crisp and clear with both dvd's and music cd's. I would highly recommend buying this system, especially from Vanns.com

We recently bought a new house, and it was time to update my surround system. I looked everywhere for a satellite speaker system that not only had great sound for movies, but I also need a system that we could enjoy listening to music on. Evidently a satellite system with good music is hard to find, especially with a limited budget!
I started my search at a local Circuit City, only to be disappointed with what I heard!!! I listened to a set of Polk Audio starting around $800, and that is before you upgrade the 6-inch sub. Music just didn't sound very good with that system. I next went to several specialty shops around town. I fell in love with a $1,500.00 Paradigm speaker system connected to a high end Denon receiver. Then I had a reality check, I just bought a house, and I can?t afford to spend $1,500.00 on speakers. Well let me rephrase that a little. I just bought a house, and if I didn't want to sleep out side in the storage building when my wife found out how much I spent, I better keep looking! My second choice was a set from Definitive Technology, the total there came to about $1,200.00. I started to think that I would have to settle for the Polk Audio set. I was not happy! I made one last stop, and that is where I was introduced to the Harman Kardon HKTS 14. I knew at that point this was the system for me!
My next step was to find the HKTS 14 with the lowest price and that is what brought me to Vanns.com. I saved over $150.00 compared to the local store including shipping. I ordered my speakers late on a Monday night and had them by Friday. It was a funny sight seeing the UPS driver struggling to get the 68lb box up the sidewalk and onto our front porch. When we get it inside I acted just like a kid in a candy store, my wife even stayed out of my way as I ripped into the box. I was very impressed that the speaker system came with all of the wire and mounting brackets that you need. You have two options to mount the speakers. It comes ready to set the speakers on a shelf, but it also comes with the much-needed wall mounting brackets, you know the ones everyone else wants you to pay for. My dad ended up paying over $50.00 to mount his speakers to the wall.
I hooked the HKTS 14 up to a Kenwood VR-7080 that my wife bought me for Christmas it is a very nice match! I didn't know if I should use the included wires or the set of monster cables that I previously used, so I tried both. I guess Harman Kardon knew what they were doing when they included the wires in the set, I could not tell a difference so I am using the wires they sent! Setup was a breeze the wires are color coded so all you have to do is match the colors and your ready to go. The only tools needed were a tape measure for speaker placement, a cordless drill to mount them, and about 10 minutes. I could hardly wait to turn the system on. Wow, when I did, it was even better than I had remembered. I could not believe the difference from my old system, movies seem to come alive. The first movie I put into the DVD player was the Matrix, the lobby shootout scene blew me away. The 200-watt powered subwoofer is the icing on the cake. The bass thumped so hard, I almost felt like I got shot. The sub really impresses me, it has such a deep rich sound, and it has to be my favorite part of the system. I have nicknamed my HKTS 14 'The Theater of Doom'. Music seems to just come alive, live concerts make you feel like you are standing center stage. The sound quality is incredible. And if I leave my blinds open, the neighbors can enjoy my Theater of Doom as well.
The HKTS 14 looks and sounds like a HIGH-END surround sound speaker system, but at a fraction of the cost. Out of the 8 different systems that I listened to, I would rate this one at the top. I would even put my HKTS 14 system head to head with a Paradigm system any day! In fact my dad bought one of the Paradigm systems last year, we both like my Harman Kardon system better. The HKTS 14 speakers are smaller and less obtrusive with the sound quality to boot, and best part is they were less than a third of the price of his Paradigm speaker system. If you are in the market for a surround sound system look no further, I would highly recommend the awesome Harman Kardon HKTS 14. It is truly a great buy!

I put this HK speaker set into use with the HK AVR 430. They are clear sounding with a very nice response. The only complaint that I have is that the 200W subwoofer seems to peek at some relatively higher frequencies and at higher music volumes you can hear the port. I solved that by re connecting my 15' passive subwoofer to another amp using the pre-amp out on the AVR 430 and lowering the volume on the HK sub. The phase switch on the sub comes in very handy to optimize bass response. With the passive sub and the HK sub the sound is awesome! This speaker system really shines with Movies. LFE's are very realistic and the overall sound is clear. Compairing cost\sound with the Bose systems out there, this wins hands down. It also looks better!

To begin with, my new HKTS 14 speakers are hooked up to my HarmanKardon AVR 230 receiver which I also purchased from Vann's. The sound of the speakers are terrific. For what you pay, you do get quality speakers for a good price. The sonic range and clarity of these speakers are much greater than my old Kenwood '550 watt' home theater system.
I can turn my receiver all the way up and the HKTS 14 speakers will not distort. The bass module is much larger than I expected, but the sound of the bass is tight and more than enough to shake my entire house. I can say that all the speakers blend together to create a high quality rich seamless sound.
The look, feel, and design of these speakers are very attractive and I have received positive comments from all my friends on the looks and sound quality. The wall-mount brackets themselves look good and allow you to swivel the speakers. With this and other products I have ordered from Vann's, I choose the free ground shipping that usually arrives within five days if not less.
If you are thinking about buying a 5.1 system for under $500 go with the HKTS 14's.

Due to limited space in my living room and due to my 3 children threatening the lives of my tower speakers, I decided to sell my complete 5.1 set of JBL Studio Series speakers. I was very hesitant on purchasing a SubSat system after being used to having full range, full sized speakers and I was very concerned with loosing overall sound quality and sheer power delivered by my JBL?s. But that concern is now gone. I can?t describe my amazement of the HTKS14 speaker system. The subwoofer is just as good if not better than my former JBL PB12-250W Sub. The sound quality from all of the speakers blend very well with the Sub and I barely noticed the change from my full sized speakers to the much smaller HKS4?s that come with the HKTS14 system. I also recently purchased a HarmanKardon AVR-230 Home theater receiver as well and it really makes this system shine. If you?re worried about these speakers sounding tinny, or small, don?t. They really, truly deliver a very full, rich, warm sound that works perfectly with music and movies. This speaker system cost?s less than a third of my former JBL system and sound just as good if not better when it comes to true fidelity. They truly are the David Banner of the speaker industry they look small, but when they get angry, stand back.

Great set of speakers that go well with HK AVR525 receiver. I received the speakers one earlier than what the UPS tracking estimated. I went with free ground shipping. The speakers are in brand new condition out of the box. Overall, the sound quality is excellent even when I turned up the volume 75. The subwoofer is powerfull enough to shake many adjacent rooms. For under $1000, the HK receiver and speakers are great for home of room any size.
A couple of things that I did not like about HK products. First, I noticed the label indicated made in China. Second, the HKTS14 came with only silver color. When looking for speaker stands with mounting brakets, it was a challenge. I end up bending the mouting brakets that came with speaker stands I purchase separately so they could work the HKTS14.
