The ProCinema 800 System is a six-piece home theater system incorporating four identical, easy-to-place satellite speakers for front and surround channels, a matching center-channel loudspeaker, and a robust powered subwoofer. But don't let this system's small size fool you — the ProCinema 800 serves up a remarkably immersive and sophisticated surround sound experience. The system's components incorporate many of the same technologies for which Definitive's top-of-the-line models are renowned, including: BDSS drivers, pure aluminum dome tweeters, planar pressure coupled mid/bass radiators, and a 300W powered subwoofer. The secret to their big sound

Competing satellite speakers similar to those offered by the ProCinema 800 usually have weak lower-midrange response. That is, when it comes to that part of the audio range that contains the "warmth" and "body" of voices and musical instruments, these other speakers tend to under perform. Listen to a male vocal on typical small satellite speakers and you will instantly hear what we mean. The ProCinema 800's satellites avoid this critical problem by pressure-coupling their exclusive BDSS-technology driver to an equal-sized mid/bass radiator cleverly placed on the top of the satellite. This technique doubles the lower-midrange radiating area of the speaker without increasing the size of the enclosure. You'll enjoy the kind of rich, warm and life-like sound quality that you thought was only possible with big, hard-to-place speakers.

A note on BDSS

You may have noticed that we've been throwing around the term BDSS when taking about the midrange/bass drivers featured on the ProCinema 800's center-channel and satellite speakers. It's high time for a little clarification, don't you think. Well, here it is. Definitive Technology's Balanced Double Surround System, or BDSS, is a driver-surround design that supports the speaker cone at two points, providing improved mechanical stability. The result is nothing less than longer, more linear excursion and improved damping and suppression of parasitic cone resonance. The result is nothing less than the high performance of ProCinema audio.

Center-channel muscle

As much as 75% of a movie's soundtrack is played by the center-channel loudspeaker, making it arguably the most important speaker in a home theater system. It is the key to getting intelligible dialogue and true-to-life sound effects. So the folks at Definitive Technology lavished a little extra attention on the ProCinema 800's center speaker. It features two of the same BDSS drivers as the satellites, along with two mid/bass radiators on the sides of the enclosure, allowing it to play loud and clear with high tonal accuracy.

Big, beefy bass

The Low Frequency Effects of a movie's soundtrack bring excitement, realism, and just plain fun to action, adventure, and sci-fi movies. Worry not, Definitive has bass down pat. The ProCinema 800's subwoofer features a 300W amplifier driving a high excursion 8â€� woofer that is pressure-coupled to an 8" low-bass radiator on the bottom of the enclosure. The net radiating area of the 600 sub is 27% greater than that of a single 10" woofer, and offers enhanced speed, pitch definition, and control for a big beefy bass audio experience.

Easy to use, easy to place

Small enough to disappear in a room but beautiful when in plain view, the ProCinema 800's satellites can be shelf-mounted with their unique tri-lobed base, wall-mounted using the built-in keyhole mount or optional ProMount 80 pivot mount, or stand mounted with their optional floor stands. The center-channel speaker features an adjustable foot for shelf mounting or can be wall-mounted using two optional ProMount 80 articulating brackets. Further, to make adjusting the subwoofer's output as easy as possible, Definitive Technology placed the volume control on the side of the subwoofer's enclosure.

These speakers sound amazing! When I opened the box, I thought wow those speakers seem really small. When I hooked everything up, What amazing sound! Im very impressed with the overall sound from my system. These speakers sound great I highly recommend them you will be impressed with the great sound.
