The Classic surround sound experience
When it comes to delivering a powerful, dynamic home theater listening experience, the folks at Boston Acoustics know what they're doing. Take the CS2310, for example. This 5.1-channel surround sound speaker system combines three heavy-hitting Boston Acoustics speaker models into one high-performance package. As a part of the Boston Acoustic's Classic series, the four CS23 bookshelf speakers, single CS223C center-channel speaker, and the CSSUB10 subwoofer have a variety of advanced speaker technologies in common. First, the 1.0" tweeters featured on the CS23 and CS223C models use Boston Acoustic's Kortec soft-dome construction to deliver crisp, detailed high-frequency audio. Second, the 3.5" woofer found on the CS23 and CS223C and the 10" woofer found on the CSSUB10 feature a graphite-injected polymer construction and Deep Channel Design. The result is full, powerful, and controlled mid-range and low-frequency audio reproduction. Complete your home theater with a surround sound experience from Boston Acoustics.
It's right behind you . . . (the CS23)
Surround sound audio lets you experience all your favorite movies just as the characters do. If you're watching a spooky suspense movie, you hear the same creaky door opening behind you, the same rustle of leaves off screen. If action flicks are more to your liking, you hear bombs explode, shrapnel fly, and bullets zip by all around you. But in order to experience surround sound audio, you need a multi-channel speaker system. And to hear those eerie sounds or enveloping battlefield effects, you look to a system's rear-channel speakers. Combining a single 1.0" tweeter and single 3.5" woofer, the CS23 bookshelf speaker from Boston Acoustics serves up full, clear mid-range and high-frequency audio. Pair two of them up for powerful rear-channel audio or dynamic stereo listening.
Take the lead (with the CS223C)
It's funny: the center-channel speaker is probably the most overlooked speaker in a home audio surround sound system, and yet, it's probably the speaker you pay attention to most. That's because while front- and rear-surround speakers and the subwoofer concern themselves with reproducing surround sound effects, it's the center-channel speaker that takes responsibility for movie dialogue and music vocals. And when it comes to these two components of your home listening experience, you don't want to miss a single detail. Pairing a single 1.0" tweeter with dual 3.5" woofers, the CS223C center-channel speaker from Boston Acoustics brings dialogue and vocals into your home theater with clarity and nuance, ensuring that you hear the lead actor's every sigh or whisper, the lead singer's every vibrato. Further, the CS223C delivers a high enough level of performance to serve up some front-channel audio effects, too. Designed to take the lead in your home theater: the CS223C from Boston Acoustics.
Multi-sensory surround sound (thanks to the CSSUB10)
In our opinion, the term "surround sound" is a little misleading. Or, at least, a little narrow. You see, the term focuses your attention on what you hear. You know, the special audio effects served up by rear- and front-channel bookshelf or floorstanding speakers, the movie dialogue or music lyrics provided by the center-channel speaker. But there's a part of surround sound that you can feel, too. That's right, feel. It's no wonder the subwoofer often gets overlooked when discussing multi-channel speaker systems; after all, it's the little "0.1" in phrases like "5.1-channel" or "7.1-channel." But we're here to tell you, the subwoofer plays one of the biggest roles in a true home theater surround sound experience. In fact, most home theater speaker systems are pretty meager without a little support from the subwoofer. Imagine a squadron of tanks caravanning across the desert in your favorite action movie. Without a subwoofer, you hear a low drone of engines. With a subwoofer, however, you hear the deep roar of gears and tracks and internal combustion . . . and a rumbling that you can actually feel. Fueling its 10" graphite-injected polymer woofer with 100W of built-in power amplification, the CSSUB10 from Boston Acoustics is capable of reproducing full, wide-dispersion bass audio that can be hear and felt. Further, BassTrac circuitry virtually eliminates distortion for deep, controlled low-frequency audio.
MagnaGuard
All of the components in your home theater system use electricity. They use it for power and for audio and video signal transmission. Accordingly, they all emit some amount of electromagnetic radiation. Because speakers operate using large magnets and require large amounts of power to reproduce sound, their output of electromagnetic energy can potentially interfere with the signals being used by other components. Ensuring seamless integration in to your home A/V system, the folks at Boston Acoustics have designed all of the components in the CS2310 system with MagnaGuard magnetic shielding, protecting other A/V components from electromagnetic interference.
Going for gold
Ensuring high-conductivity and low-corrosivity for high-performance, enduring audio reproduction, the Boston Acoustics CS23 and CS223C speakers use gold-plating on their five-way binding-post inputs.
The finishing touches — cables
Go one step further in your quest to reach the pinnacle of home audio. High-performance floorstanding speakers like those found in the CS2310 system can only help your home audio system reach its full potential if it is receiving a quality, high-integrity audio signal. Audio cables — chosen specifically for the needs of your system — deliver the ability to maximize your CS2310's potential. View the accessories list attached to the CS2310 at Vanns.com or call a Vann's customer service representative at the 800 number at the top of this page for assistance in selecting the right set of cables.

This Boston Sub Sat system sounds fuller than others Ive listened to, It has a great subwoofer and the sats are large enough to reproduce critical midrange frequencies accurately so that youre getting full-range sound not just good treble and bass. Give a good rap on the enclosures and youll know these are well constructed! Boston makes good subs, sats and of course, sub-sat systems so you can’t go wrong with these at arouud $250set. They don’t sound as good as my Energy RC-bookshelf home theater but both sound good to my ears – smooth response, accurate frequency balance and low distortion. The CS Sub included in the Boston CS-2310 package is very very good for music and movies and in my opinion is one of the best 10” 100 watt subs out there for the money. The CS Sub and CS-23 Sats are now the CS Sub II, and CS-23II respectively so it may be harder to find the older version system. Happy looking and may you find the perfect home theater for your needs!
If you buy them, make sure the dealer double boxes these. The 70 lb box youre getting is just asking to be abused by UPS!

Where do I begin? I was recently back in the market for HI-FI equipment after the last child moved out of the home, and the wife and I decided to break up and go our own ways. Before marriage and kids, I had built quite a system, but this had disappeared over the years as most of our identities do in such conditions. The only remnant left was a pair of Bose 901 speakers...my pride and joy. As I explored and researched my way back into somewhat familiar territory, I came across an old friend... Boston Acoustics. Vanns had a Boston Acoustic sound system for $199. Not A speaker for $199...but four surround speakers, a center channel speaker, and a subwoofer....for $199. Are you kidding me!, I said out loud. I cant even find a half decent sub for half that price. Theres got to be a catch here....so I checked it out. Sure enough, this was the same Boston Acoustics that made top of the line speakers back in the 80s, in my single days, so I knew they were a quality company with knowledgable folks. Maybe theyre clearing the last ones out to make way for a new line.... Ill give them a try. At least Ill get a decent sub at a good price. I can always use the surrounds in the garage. Well, the package came a few days later, and was I ever impressed. Nice, well built, solid, hefty surround speakers, and center channel, and the sub to boot. I immediately plugged it all in to my recently purchased Pioneer SC-55, and began my trip down the yellow brick road. What incredible sound these things produced! I listened to old CDs and heard things I dont recall hearing before. Not just music, but individual voices in space, instrumental clarity and separation, all centered not on a flat stage before me, but in a three dimensional stage. I closed my eyes and almost felt as though I was once again at the concert venue experiencing Zepplin, Joel, Aerosmith, Elton, Genesis, ELP, all over again. WOW. Called in sick to work the next day to continue the experience. I have been exploring and getting reaquainted not only with all the music in my collection since, but also all the movies in my collection, as I now can actually hear the dialogue using the clear center channel. One notoriously difficult movie for me to follow was Pirates of the Carribean, heavy old british accents and Johnny Depps propensity to mumble left me wondering what he said most of the time. I watched it and actually enjoyed the film more after hearing what was being said. The same for the Harry Potter movies too. I was so impressed with this system, that when I updated my bedroom, I bought a second set for that room. There are very few true Deals in this life. This is one of those gems you cannot pass up, and for a price that wont leave you worrying if you can still keep the air conditioner on. If you are looking for a great sound system, this is it ! Period! Believe me... Ive listened to all the B&Ws, Martin Logans, and systems costing tens of thousands of dollars.... They got nothing on these little guys.

This is my first surround system I have bought. It seems to be pretty good so far. There is plenty of bass for the average person, and the speakers have good clear sound. I wouldnt mind the center channel having a little more umph, it seems to be a little overpowered by whats coming through the bass. Overall a good product for a great price.

I bought the Boston Acoustics CS2310b 5.1 system to replace a beat up 10 year old Harmon Kardon 5.1 system using an Onkyo receiver. The satellite speakers on the Harmon Kardon were very small, but I used to think quite good. However, in short the mid-range umph of the BA are much better than the HK, and I am really happy with the sound improvement. This does come with a caveat though... the new BA satellite speakers are at least 50 bigger than the old micro satellite speakers I had from HK. This probably accounts for the sound gain bigger speakers have an easier time providing good mid-range, and is trade-off is one Im happy with, but be forewarned if you like minimalist satellite speakers. My second comparison is the sub. I broke the input ports on the HK sub and havent used it for a few years, but i used to love it. I replaced it with the Polk Audio PSW10 which was boomy and great for the price, but overall not very precise or tight. The new Boston Acoustics sub is back on par with the old HK sub I used to love, and definitely much better than the PSW10 which had great reviews by the way for its price point. Bottom line is the CS2310b is a great system, one that could easily compete with systems twice the price. No, it is not a thousand dollar system, but it is much better than a good $400 Harmon Kardon system from 10 years ago, and at about half the price.

Bought the BA CS2310 series back in August 2011 anticipating a new home theater system. Unexpected hospital bills delayed the subsequent purchase of a receiver to go with it until after X-mas. When it arrived I was so excited to get everything up and running....the only problem was that the sub was non-functional. Right out of the box. I am totally new to the electronics game so I poked around with every iteration possible - even taking it to my buddys house and unplugging his functional sub and replacing it with my new one....no sound. Well, since it was past the 30 day return policy Vanns would do nothing, referring me to BA instead. SURPRISE....BA would do nothing either. Im now stuck shipping it to one of 3 BA service centers....on my dime of course, and the BA customer service rep tried to sell it as a great deal that they would pay to ship it back to me! The speakers that do work sound good. Im not recommending you not purchase these or not purchase from Vanns....but be prepared. My recommendation is WHEN IN DOUBT RETURN THEM....that goes for any purchase not just these speakers. The good news is that Gene at the LeMars, IA service center has been AWESOME to work with....but again, hes a third party repair man!

I have always been impressed with Boston Acoustics products, so I decided it would be worth taking a gamble on these speakers, even though I couldnt listen to them first. This gamble payed off. I dont know that they would be worth the original list price, but they are well worth the asking price. I had a little trouble getting the sub to work properly when first setting them up. I was using the LFE input, and it would only work sometime, and would not turn on by itself when in the auto position I had to turn them on manually. I decided to connect it using one of the full range inputs and everything works properly now. The lows are plenty powerful for my living room with the level control set about half way. The satellites have good highs and decent mids. I notice a little roughness in female vocals when playing music, but they are not at all objectionable. For TV audio, I am hearing things in shows I never noticed before. I havent purchased a blu ray player yet, so I have not really given the tv sound a good test yet. But overall, I am very satisfied.

Got the Item exactly when scheduled and was exactly as ordered. Im using an older dolby PL2 receiver and I have to say I am very impressed with this package. I dont think there are any other speakers that can touch these for the price I paid. The sub is plenty powerful for an average size room. It will distort if you crank it all the way up though but you get more than enough bass before that happens. It goes way deeper than the passive sony 10 it replaced. Mids and highs from the bookshelfs are very crisp and put out plenty of sound before distortion. I cant believe I only paid 200 for these. The walls shake and you can hear these from the street! I cant wait to get a good receiver on these for some true 5.1. Im only giving a 4 for performance because there are better speakers out there. That can be said for almost speakers.

Clean sounding bookshelf speakers, subwoofer is surprisingly potent for the wattage.I would definitely recommend this system for the price i paid which is far less than its retail. Sounds great with movies, music doesnt sound as impressive but still quite good. If you are very particular about your music then you may want to step up to a system with larger bookshelves as this system is very dependent on the subwoofer for midbass. I ended up returning the system because the subwoofer emits a hum even when the power switch is turned off and the variable crossover control did not function at all. Using it as a bedroom system the hum was annoying when i was trying to sleep. I eliminated the possibility of the hum coming from an elecrical ground problem by bringing my Klipsch sub from my living room system and plugging it in place of the Boston Acoustics and there was no humming at all. My buddy ordered the same system after listening to mine and his sub has the same problems. Vanns was very helpful in the returning of the Boston system and after talking with a sales rep for a while I ended up ordering a Definitive Technology system as a replacement. Im very happy with the Def Tech it has brighter highs and sub plays deeper than the Boston. But for half the price the Boston is an excellent value and decent sounding system. You would be hard pressed to find a better sound quality to price ratio.

I ordered the Boston Acoustics CS2310 5.1 channel surround sound speaker set. I was NOT disappointed one bit. I am running them with a Yamaha 525W Receiver that just plain PUMPS! I have to run the Subwoofer at 1 tenth capacity for fear of them breaking things in the house. It reminds me of a THX Movie effects in a large Movie theater. It rumbles in your chest like a true Sub is supposed to do. Well worth the money I spent on them which was about a third of the MSRP. Do yourself a big favor and get these or any other Boston Acous speakers. You will be another happy customer as well.

For the price and the quality of the BA speakers, it worths every pennies! The sound is great and it can compare to the expensive system. The subwoofer is a bit big but it sounds very good with solid and strong bass. I am very happy with the purchase from Vanns!

I debated for some time over the best surround speaker system for my needs and budget and settled on the Boston Acoustics cs2310b speaker system. Based on online review and in person auditioning of similar systems I felt i chose well. Once I received the system and hooked up all the wires, I was not disjointed. For the price I feel you can not go wrong with this system.

This system has been great. They look great. They speakers are plastic but the fake grain finish gives these speakers the look of wood. I have these connected to a Denon 591 and the sound is clean and clear even with the volume cranked. No real lose of sound quality non-audiophile. The center speak does a great job with clear audible vocals, even through loud action sequences. The one very small complaint I have may be a deal breaker for audiophiles. The range of these speakers seems a little small. Both the highs and bass are a little muted. I have only had this system for 10 days but have seen the most notable discrepencies with accuarate gun fire sound war movies and male voices sound hollow kinda like they are talking through a megaphone...the cheerleader kind. It absolutly isnt a deal breaker as I may just need to tweek some settings on my reciever. I would absolutly purchases these speakers again.

The Boston CS2310B is a great system for mid size rooms. Subwoofer has enough power and small speakers also have a bang. I tested this unit with Star Wars Empire Strikes Back….and it was great!!! And besides buying a good Boston product…the dealings with Vanns was great!!!

Really like this set. For the price I got them at, they really cant be beat for a 5.1 system. Decent sized bookshelf speakers and center provide good musicality, and the sub is just right. paired with a denon avr1911 and its perfect. Thanks for the quick shipping too.

This is a very nice set comes with everything you need for a nice 5.1 setup... Sub is plenty powerful enough and center is great with dual 3.5 speakers in the housing. normally would like at least a 5.25 in the centers for deep voice presence but like i said very good set for a beginner without breaking the wallet. Overall sound quality for non audiophiles would rate 7 out of 10.. great great starter package.. just make sure to push them with a nice receiver.
