Im in the process of putting together a theater sound system. I seriously considered just purchasing a nice quality HTIB, complete with receiveramp satellites, and sub which in theory matches all the components, and taking all the guess work out of the matching for the best response and performance. After hours and hours of research, I came up with a plan, The Onkyo HT-SP 908 complete with great sounding speakers though Large, up-to-date receiver with the latest 1.3 HDMI for 1080P, and a so-so DVD player. The only thing though, I really wanted smaller and more stylish speakers and a better DVD Player. Well I came across these Infinity TSS-1200 speakers on Slick Deals and impulsively ordered them, having experience with the Infinity brand and owning an awesome Infinity Interlude IL100 Sub which I purchased eight years ago. My thought at the time was, Ill just buy these Infinity TSS-1200 5.1 speakers and Ill just buy the receiver used in the Onkyo HTIB system Onkyo receiver TX-SR605 and wula! ...A custom matched home theater that works! I know, yada...yada...yada... Ill cut to the chase
The Infinity TSS-1200 speakers arrived last week. I ordered the receiver yesterday Onkyo TX-SR705, and impatiently hooked the whole thing up to my old Yamaha RX-V850 surround sound system from 14 years ago thats only pushing 85 watts to the fronts and 25 watts to the rear surround. The sound coming from these satellites is clear and clean but seemed to be lacking depth. Then I powered up the Sub, and slowly cranked up the power powered sub and depth and richness starting coming through, but I found the sub required full power to match the satellites though, maybe due to the old receiver being under powered. The sound at that time was pretty good. I then powered off everything, disconnect the sub, and hooked up my old Infinity interlude IL100 Sub to the system and fired up the stuff and WOW!! ther was a difference! I played music and chose several songs which contained lots of bass. I felt these things came alive when accompanied with my old Infinity IL100 or with full power on the sub supplied in the set.
Really I guess I should wait till I receive the new receiver to give a fair critique. The way the true response of this system in respect to the current breed of surround theater effects is yet to be experienced and tested. I feel based upon my recent tests, I would say the sub doesnt respond to the satellites great, or quite as I good as I would have liked, further would rate this system as a 4 out of 5 stars for that reason. To be clear, the satellites DO NOT sound cheap or tinny by any means but may lack some midrange-depth.
This ensemble, enclosed in a aluminum shell is solid, well built and offers attractive contemporary styling. The sub speaker is large as with most subs, but looks beautiful with the subtle image of the large 12 speaker as is seen through the screen cover.
I did receive a great deal...wont mention the price but I am glad I bought this set and consider it to be a great value.

By the way, this shopping experience through Vans has been the best shopping experience I have ever had. I did order the Onkyo receiver TX-SR705 through Vanns, and soon a DVD player.
The personal response, professionalism and tracking methods as made this company a place for me to do future business with.
