Enticing Sounds
Infinity's TSS1200PLT 5.1-channel speaker package will entice you into enjoying your favorite multichannel music and movies over and over again with enveloping, realistic surround sound; deep, powerful bass; and crisp-sounding dialogue. The four TSSSAT1200, 2-way satellite speakers (two front and two surround) each boast dual 3.50" midranges and a 0.75" tweeter while the voiced-matched center channel speaker features dual 3.5" midranges and a 0.75" tweeter for high-impact on-screen effects. TSS tweeters employ an acoustical waveguide to deliver a wider, more even high-frequency response. Bass is handled by a 12" 250-watt powered subwoofer, and every driver in the package incorporates Infinity's exclusive MMD transducer material technology. Satellite and center channel speakers are housed in high-style, brushed, extruded aluminum acoustic suspension enclosures inspired by Infinity's premium Cascade Series. This all-metal enclosure provides an extremely rigid structure, virtually eliminating cabinet resonances. Place the satellites on shelves or mount them on the wall with the included brackets. The center channel speaker, also wall mountable with included brackets, comes with a curved pedestal that allows positioning at the proper angle, either on top of the television or below it. Magnetic shielding on the satellites and center channel speakers lets you place them close to the television without interference. All six speakers work in unison to create a seamless surround sound experience with movies as well as multichannel music, even the demanding high-resolution sources like SACD and DVD-Audio. Should your taste for home theater broaden to 6.1- or 7.1-channel, you can easily expand the TSS1200PLT package by purchasing additional TSSSAT1200 satellite speakers for made-to-order integration into your system.
Exclusive MMD Technology
Infinity's MMD (Metal Matrix Diaphragm) technology permits you to hear recordings and soundtracks--perhaps for the first time--exactly the way the artist or director intended. What can prevent this from happening are resonances, unwanted colorations, or distortions, of the sound reproduced by a speaker; and every transducer has its own unavoidable set of resonances based on its physical characteristics. The trick is to build a transducer where the natural resonances are either above or below its audible range. To get this done, Infinity engineers developed MMD transducer material, a sandwich made up of layers of ceramic alumina (5% of the total thickness top and bottom) anodized to a metallic aluminum core (the remaining 90% of total thickness). Among the stiffest materials known, alumina and aluminum were chosen because sound moves through them faster than through conventional transducer materials and the MMD sandwich responds to electrical signals very rapidly without coloring the sound at all. MMD technology is derivative of a similar patented sandwich material used on Infinity's premium speakers. At Infinity, elimination of resonances is paramount, whether at the top of the line or at the entry level. When other manufacturers claim that their transducers are ceramically coated, it's merely a cosmetic surface treatment. The TSS1200PLT package incorporates MMD transducer material because Infinity knows you'll be able to hear the difference.
Tested For Performance And Quality
Before ever putting a speaker into production, Infinity engineers analyze a number of critical parameters, including frequency response, spatial averages, phase response, and nonlinear distortion. Also analyzed are sound quality (timbre and bandwidth), spatial quality (how well the speakers spread out the sound), stereo imaging, the multichannel soundstage (how strong the sound image is in front, behind, and to the sides), and dynamic capabilities (sound quality for very loud and very quiet inputs). The TSS1200PLT speaker package you bring into your home has been subjected to some of the most rigorous testing and analysis in the industry, all to assure you superb performance and superior quality.
You Be the Judge
In the final analysis only you, the listener, can judge the performance of any speaker. Infinity does all it can to make certain that your verdict will be a good one. They employ listeners with naturally acute hearing and then train them to express what they hear in ways that help engineers identify what's right and wrong about the speaker. Only after the TSS1200PLT was rated best-in-class against other manufacturer's comparable products, was it ready for production. Infinity's dedication to creating good sound in any room, anywhere in the room, is a benchmark in the loudspeaker industry. Invisible, uncolored, unchanged, natural sound, exactly as the musician or director meant for you to hear it--that's Infinity.

Picked this up at a great discount of 275 with the open box clearance. I cannot complain about anything so far. The bass is very responsive and the speakers have very crisp and detailed. I have had other systems before Sony and Yamaha and these speakers are superior to both of the former systems. I run it with a 500 Watt Yahama 5.1 Reciever.

I just received my Infinity TSS-1200 system and it only took 3 business days by Fed-X. Initial hook-up and quality of sound was disappointing and was directed to read the Yamaha receiver manual to fully understand why my sub-woofer was not working. After spending total of 2 ~ 3 hours, I was listening to average sound quality coming from the system. I am totally disappointed with the system and would recommend others to shop around before purchasing the Infinity TSS-1200 5.1 System. The system is weak with average sound quality. I hope this helps others from jumping into purchasing without knowing how we the previous owner feel.

Im in the process of putting together a theater sound system. I seriously considered just purchasing a nice quality HTIB, complete with receiveramp satellites, and sub which in theory matches all the components, and taking all the guess work out of the matching for the best response and performance. After hours and hours of research, I came up with a plan, The Onkyo HT-SP 908 complete with great sounding speakers though Large, up-to-date receiver with the latest 1.3 HDMI for 1080P, and a so-so DVD player. The only thing though, I really wanted smaller and more stylish speakers and a better DVD Player. Well I came across these Infinity TSS-1200 speakers on Slick Deals and impulsively ordered them, having experience with the Infinity brand and owning an awesome Infinity Interlude IL100 Sub which I purchased eight years ago. My thought at the time was, Ill just buy these Infinity TSS-1200 5.1 speakers and Ill just buy the receiver used in the Onkyo HTIB system Onkyo receiver TX-SR605 and wula! ...A custom matched home theater that works! I know, yada...yada...yada... Ill cut to the chase
The Infinity TSS-1200 speakers arrived last week. I ordered the receiver yesterday Onkyo TX-SR705, and impatiently hooked the whole thing up to my old Yamaha RX-V850 surround sound system from 14 years ago thats only pushing 85 watts to the fronts and 25 watts to the rear surround. The sound coming from these satellites is clear and clean but seemed to be lacking depth. Then I powered up the Sub, and slowly cranked up the power powered sub and depth and richness starting coming through, but I found the sub required full power to match the satellites though, maybe due to the old receiver being under powered. The sound at that time was pretty good. I then powered off everything, disconnect the sub, and hooked up my old Infinity interlude IL100 Sub to the system and fired up the stuff and WOW!! ther was a difference! I played music and chose several songs which contained lots of bass. I felt these things came alive when accompanied with my old Infinity IL100 or with full power on the sub supplied in the set.
Really I guess I should wait till I receive the new receiver to give a fair critique. The way the true response of this system in respect to the current breed of surround theater effects is yet to be experienced and tested. I feel based upon my recent tests, I would say the sub doesnt respond to the satellites great, or quite as I good as I would have liked, further would rate this system as a 4 out of 5 stars for that reason. To be clear, the satellites DO NOT sound cheap or tinny by any means but may lack some midrange-depth.
This ensemble, enclosed in a aluminum shell is solid, well built and offers attractive contemporary styling. The sub speaker is large as with most subs, but looks beautiful with the subtle image of the large 12 speaker as is seen through the screen cover.
I did receive a great deal...wont mention the price but I am glad I bought this set and consider it to be a great value.
I will update this review later
By the way, this shopping experience through Vans has been the best shopping experience I have ever had. I did order the Onkyo receiver TX-SR705 through Vanns, and soon a DVD player.
The personal response, professionalism and tracking methods as made this company a place for me to do future business with.
Thank you vans!
