So Versatile It's Ambidextrous
Don't feel obligated to relegate the i6W to a particular place in your speaker system. This multipurpose in-wall speaker can be used as either a right, left, or center speaker in your surround setup. It features a 1-inch Pure Titanium Hybrid Tweeter and a 6.5-inch polypropylene woofer with butyl surrounds in a 2-way configuration. With a power handling capability of 100 Watts, and a frequency response of 55 Hz to 20 kHz, this speaker guarantees great performance. A unique moutning bezel is already attached to the i6W, allowing simple installation. The bezel and speaker can be separated to further ease the installation process. The grille is finished in white and can be painted to match virtually any decor. The versatility offered by the incognita i-series i6W makes it an amazing addition to your audio system.
The Tweeter Is Sweeter
The i6W boasts a PTH tweeter for reproduction of higher frequencies. The famous Mirage Pure Titanium Hybrid (PTH) tweeter made its first appearance in the legendary Mirage M1si, the world's first Bipolar loudspeaker. It earned its fame due to its crystal clear and lifelike high frequency reproduction, low distortion, high power handling, and wide dispersion. The PTH tweeter is mated to a compliant cloth suspension, a design that provides a low fundamental resonance that allows it to extend lower, without distorting, into a range where dispersion is widest. Winding the coil directly onto the dome, as well as its low mass and close tolerance shape, ensure instant response to signals with a perfect piston motion. Ferrofluid in the gap surrounding the voice coil keeps the tweeter cool and provides unbelievable power handling capabilities.
The Woofer Is . . . Tougher?
Okay, so it isn't an exact rhyme. Still, quality materials and construction are part of the package with Mirage's drivers, including the woofer in the i6W. Mirage uses an advanced composite technogloy called injection molding. The injection molded polypropylene cones are impregnated with carbon graphite and mica to produce drivers possessing excellent waveform properties with tight tolerances. The excellent waveform properties result in improved midrange and low frequency accuracy, with perfect consistency. The woofer in the i6W speaker is a larger hybrid polypropylene, which means it can cover a wider range of frequencies.

I have always been a believer in bigger is better and you get what you pay for. My audiophile experience dates to the mid 70s. 4 of these Mirage in-walls went into a master bedroom and are currently powered by an older Onkyo TX prologic reciever. During construction I had a pair of Pioneer CS-905s 15 woofers hooked up and they literally rattle your bones..
Now to compare some big sound out of a small package. As instructed in the owners manual, I kept the volume down to a minimum for about 100 hours to break-in the i6Ws. I did this by just letting the radio play continuously. The day came to turn it up and as I walked into the room, Billy Thorpes - Children of the Sun was being announced to play next. Perfect!! This song has a lot of sound movement around the channels. Well, I cranked it up and can tell you there are no complaints, no reqrets!!! You would have to hear it to believe it, but these in-walls delivered a clean, crisp sound that exceeded my expectations since I am used to big sound that you can feel all the way to the bone.
How about price? I found these on sale at Vanns. I have a budget today, unlike the 70s-early 80s when all my income went to stereo. I checked thoughout this remodel to see if something I thought would satisfy my critical ear was on sale. I subscribed to an e-mail from Vanns just for the purpose of catching a good deal. My wait paid off!!! When I saw the price on these, and knowing that Klipsch is the parent company for Mirage now, I jumped on 2 pair the same day.
Im not supposed to mention price in this review, but I just checked and they are still on sale with free speaker wire, PLUS they ship em to you for FREE!! I just dont see how you could be disappointed.
I have a pair of Klipsch 10 floor subs that I bought some time back from Vanns which will eventually be added and still need to buy a center channel to fulfill the theater effect. Until then, I am totally impressed with the bass and spectrum of sound coming from the i6W Mirage in-wall speakers.
Thank you VANNS!!!
ps Installation was a breeze.

Love these inwalls. I have larger inwalls in my home theater, but these have exceeded my expectation in a MBR install. Would be great in a kitchen, study, foyer as well.
I could see these as good surrounds in a theater, but not mains.

I am in the process of finishing my basement and am creating a home theater area with a basic 5.1 surround. I was looking for four 6.5 two way in walls with aimable tweeters to go with my m-audio powered sub and infinity center channel. LR Front and Rear.
I shopped around and most of the products I liked were $200 or more a pair..... Somehow I stumbled across glowing reviews for Mirage owned by klipsch and their higher end products...so when i got to their web site I saw the i-6w which they describe as a multi-purpose in wall speaker.
They arrived today, I took a pair out of the box and tested them side by side with my more expensive bookshelf speakers upstairs and they sound great. Crystal clear no coloring added to the sound. They seem reasonably efficient too...I didnt turn them up loud, but my 50 watt receiver powered them nicely.
I was nervous that this deal was too good to be true....it seems I found a great value. Thanks Vanns.
